I'm thinking about killing the general Bazaar forum since we have a bazaar thread on each of the server specific forums. (If we're missing one, tell me.) Thoughts? Concerns?
I would have a look a redoing the whole bazaar thing. Heres some things i think would work better
First thing i would say is - Keep it Simple
1: I would remove the thread on the each server. It is just one thread and imo i dont think this works well.
2: Think about keeping the Bazaar bit, but put a server section in there, so after you go into bazaar you can choose your server and into the Marketplace there. This would work much better than the current, all in one thing and easy on the eyes and brain.
3: What about a current(ish) price guide on the each of the severs. It would be a fair amount of work, but if you get people reply with the prices and join in, it should work and would be usefull to new players and to all. OFcourse it would only be a rough guide.
________
Consider using a ruleset around this:
1. BUMP can only be used by the thread creator.
The thread creator is allowed to bump his/her post once per hour, with an absolute maximum of 15. More bumping is not allowed, and will result in the post being locked.
Any other user bumping the topic will have his post deleted.
2. Pointless conversation is not allowed.
Any post that doesnt directly make a bid for buying/trading ingame items, or asks/reponds on item details is not allowed. Offending posts will be deleted.
3. No hijacking of other posts to Buy/Sell/Trade your own items.
Posting on someone elses thread for the purpose of selling/trading/buying your own items is not allowed. Make a separate thread for that.
4. No Buying/Selling/Trading of characters.
This is forbidden in any form.
5. No Real Money or other non-ingame items involve in a trade.
This is forbidden in any form.
6. No Buying/Selling/Trading of any non-ingame items.
These forums are solely meant for trading ingame items.
I will think up more, as i do think a usefull marketplace is needed :).
I think if you're going to keep a bazaar section here for each server, you should make "Trading" a separate category and then put a server specific forum for each server under that category.
Heh, it is pretty sweet. We're limited here by the software we're using, so the options are pretty much either one general forum, individual server forums, or individual server threads. Given the very low volume of all the current locations combined, I'm not wildly in favor of individual server forums. However, I can occasionally be convinced.

Yeah but if you think about it - the low volume could be caused because the current setup hurts the head.
Can we have a vote? :)
1: General Forums
2: Individual Server Forums
3: Individual Server Theads
Im not saying it is going to work though lol :P. The problem being most people playing the game will just walk around Giran to find the items they are after as there is alot of people selling overnight etc etc - I
Maybe once word gets about that the prices are fair and there is the items to find it would work...
My first choice would be individual forums for each server. This would the easiest to browse. You know all the items listed are available on your server. So it doesn't matter whether the person remembered to include the server name in the title. And, you don't have to check all the posts that have no server in the title.
Having one forum for all the servers would be my second choice.
A single thread in each server forum is just too much of a pain to search through. I wouldn't mind seeing these go away.

You could have one forum as long as you had a way to distinguish between servers. It does noone any good to have to look through all posts just to find something on their particular server. There would also have to be a way to manage the content. As it is now, unless you read the entire thread you might miss something way down at the bottom after wading through piles of unrelated comments.
Maybe by forcing posters to put in the subject line three qualifiers ... Server Name ... Action (i.e. Buy/Sell/Trade) ... Item Name. Establish time limits on each thread, maybe two weeks, then automatically delete the thread.
I vote we just point to the stratics system.
Why reinvent the wheel?
And maybe it'll help the stratics fansite.
It would be really nice to have at least one fansite that doesn't suck.
Um, think I'll second Wyzeguy here. I don't think we really need a bazaar forum or thread here on the offical boards. Granted, that's just my personal opinion.
Well from MMORPG to MMORPG the way people set up how they trade is usually definded early on and people get into that trend and rarely change.
However...
The BEST experience I have EVER had with trade was with Star Wars Galaxies. They had a trade forum set for each server. Basicly when you posted a thread in that forum it was only to start an auction. The title of the thread was what you were selling, or letting them know you were sellimg lots of stuff. The body gave an auction end date, 15 minute snipe rule if you want, minimum bid, bid inciments, stats and info on what your selling and and end date usually 3-7 days from orriginal post.
Then people came in with replies and bid on it. The original poster was allowed edit options so he could update who was winning and at what price on his initial post. It was a great system. If you have the opportunity you should swing by their forums and check out what they have going on there. Anything that was worth selling for a descent amount of money was handled there.
But would the L2 community change to using this system. I can't think of a better system other than a 3rd party web site, but those never go over well.
It would help if the latest post on the bazaar columns start with the newest posts at the top instead of the back. Maybe someone can do the code just for the bazaar section.
I can't stand the name bazzaar.. good God name it "the market" or someting more identifible!!
bazzaar what the hell is that!
I also think that to take the ones out of the cerrent server form is a good idea, and make it so there is a "maket place" then in it you choose your server, then you go to your "maket place" and get the post you want.
That will make things easier to understand for new players and old ones!

Dont kill the general bazaar (unless you replace it with individual trade forums) just lose the sticky from each world forum.
Godeyes pretty much had it right. Its the set-up that makes selling anything on the official forums a bit awkward - one page for multi-sales, short edit life of posts etc.

How about fixing the crashes and "disconnected" at login bugs in the game, along with banning the 1000+ farmer botters on every server instead???

Yeah.. I don't think its the community Manager that is responsible for handling server stability.
then its organized. every1 knows what number their server is. keep it simple, and something like a template of how ppl should be posting. posts should only be made by OP and all comments should be via PM. bumping, like some1 said, should be just once. its not like the bazaar gets flooded with things ne ways.
- Expire threads on the general bazaar forum
- Lose the server-specific stickies
- Change the name of the trade forum
- Create seperate forums for each server
- Kill our trade forums, just link to stratics
The first three are the work of but a moment, the last two contradict each other. Right now I'm still more in favor of just improving the general trade forum than adding a bunch of new ones - what does everyone thing about doing those top three things and seeing how it pans out?
If you go ahead with the top 3, The threads will need some structure. Just looking though it, it is very hard to read with everyone using different methods to sell, i mean its like this at the moment:
[WTS] <Teon>
<Barz> WTB Manticore Set
SELLING Teon
Buying Dagger (Bartz)
WTB on Teon
Do you see what i mean? I dont know how you could setup a structure that couldnt be used in another way, im not sure what tools you have access to or can do maybe using colours or something aswell, i mean like :
[Bartz] (Selling) Manticore Set
[Teon] (Buying) Dagger
[Teon] (Buying) Drake Armour
[Hinde] (Selling) My Body q/s 1mil.
Color would be more of a pain to enforce, because AFAIK there's no way to do it automatically for a forum, but I will cheerfully enforce a [server] [wtb/wts] [item] format. Without that, a general trade forum is not useful.

OK, the aging has been implemented (however, it will not actually happen until server maintenance, I believe) and the new title policy has been posted. The in-server threads will be locked and unstickied, but I'm not going to delete them.
