I have tested this one serveral machines now.. all EXACT SAME SYMPTOMS..
Using a Microsoft Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000 (USB connected)
Lineage2 is the ONLY game that does this. the minute i load lineage2 up, it disables my keyboard. It doesn't shut it off (lights still light up) but hitting ANY key, even the special function keys such as caculator, or the windows key doesn't work. When i exit the game, it doesn't work still, FORCING me to reboot the computer in order to do anything more on the machine. Every other game i've tried. never ran into an issue. If anything, i've noticed major improvements with everything else i've done. But lineage2 i've yet to even get to sit down and play due to this error that i've been trying to solve myself.
This has been tested on multiple configurations, with different computers and the same keyboard.
It's Brand new, so there is no WAY IN HELL i'm going to replace it with another.
I am having similar problems with my Microsoft Natural Ergonomic 4000 as well. My problem is slightly different where L2 just holds up/freezes before it gets to the login screen. In order for L2 to get to the login screen I have to hit the space key or some other generic key and then 10-15 secs later the screen appears.
Problem, i'm in an E-mail a thon.... i gotta be at 15 e-mails or better now and they are finding half a million other things to look at to blame me or someone else. Ironically, after admitting a problem, they quickly turned around and said i was loading something... (keeping emails for history, submitting to there supervisors or higher up there chain of command)
In any case, With 2 services disabled (system restore and firewall) and only ATI's CLI.EXE in startup and a complete check of all running programs with a fresh format and CLEAN retail installation of Windows XP Pro SP2. It still disables my keyboard soon as it gets into the screen.
Lineage2: Disables
39 other games: No problems at all, works like a dream.
15 other programs, both proffesional and not: Flawless yet again.
Any other problems with keyboard so far noticed after a month of use now? NONE.
Lineage 2 falls appart the moment the Gameguard.DES in the task manger appears, this is the precise moment that my keyboard completely shuts off...
MAJOR PROBLEM, i use a PS/2 less setup for my main machine. Yes you heard me, Motherboard manufacturers are phasing out the Old Printer Ports/ and Ps/2 ports along with serial/com ports and anything else the uses an old standard. Nothing but USB/Firewall now.
Advantage? yes, keyboard in which doesn't share any resources, doesn't hog any, doesn't have a key press limit (the best PS/2 keyboards limit you to a maximum of 4 keys being pressed at the same time)
Anyways.... i'll report back when NCSOFT support techs get the foot out of the mouths.... at which point, doesn't seem anytime soon...
I'm haveing the same problems..i can get on the game for a few minutes then wham..keyboard does nothing..and as far as the adapter goes..new comps (at least my dell xps) does not have the ps2 or whatever slots..only usb.. Plz fix this problem it's extremely annoying!!!!
My USB keyboard still has alot of troubles loading L2... PTS however it's fine....
I've got a nasty workaround for myself fixed up.... and i've reported it.. but there isn't any way they can support it... and i cannot really assist anyone on it.
I still have to reboot occasionally if something didn't load correctly with my wacked workaround....
PTS however works perfectly fine yet.
Please.... SEND a Tech report email to NCSOFT about your issue, THEY refused to beleive me that new machines would be coming out with NO PS/2 PORTS or Serial ports.... USB keyboards and mice are going to be the only things available on the market soon. (Motherboard manufacturers are removing all latency ports.... ps/2, parrelel, serial, IDE even, it's all getting thrown away....
Abit if i recall correctly was the first to attempt to completely throw the serial/ps-2 and the rest of the ports out the window... but the motherboard flopped.... wasn't enough supply of products that would work. But it's seriously taking on for the last year.... my guess is within the next year, all prebuilts will be true USB everything.... zero ports.
NCSoft, you've got tops, a year before there is a mass amount of complaints pouring in.
I seem to be having the exact same problem after the new chronicle. I enter my user name and password, click login and then bam no keyboard and it just hangs on me. I guess I'll try sending in a trouble ticket but I don't know if I'm the mood for some tech support person to try starting me from scratch and treating me like I'm a noob computer user that doesnt know my CDROM drive from a cup holder.
