This week's question covers the monthly newsletter. What do y'all think of it? What do you like? Dislike? What would you like to see in it?

I think the only one I paid any attention to was the one with the free keys. Most of what is in them is already known to us forum trolls anyway. They're probably great to those that don't frequent the forums.
I haven'f found the newsletters very timely or useful. As a forum regular, and a regular visitor to the website, I get all the information I need. By the time the newsletter roles around it's dated.
If there was an improvement I could suggest it would be to use the newsletters to announce things that will be coming for the month, before say an actual official event date and details are provided. That way we know something interestingis coming, but have to wait for details until a later time.
The newsletter would be most helpful as a communication tool between NCSoft and the community. Instead of telling us news we already know (siege info, etc) why not use it to discuss policies, enhancements, or perhaps answer player questions each month? That would be extremely helpful to me.

I would have to second this. I also need to point out that every time I get a newsletter it is already old news.
I scan down it, laugh to myself that it is already known information and delete.
The newsletter should be a bit of everything... perhaps even have a link to an interview with some of the developers, artists, designers of the game.
That would be very interesting. Or give us a better heads up about what is about to happen.
I never read it either. It's got to have some content that's unique from the main website for most forum users to read it. I don't know how well in advance you know what events you'll be running or website/game updates are coming, but it would gain my interest if it had 'teasers' of what will be posted on the website soon. You know, like some cryptic reference to the nature of a new unposted event, or a 'C4 update coming soon, check lineage2.com soon!' [edit - L2Girl beat me to this one, so I second it]
How about a series of 'event quests' that you have to get the finishing information from the newsletter? Just a few things like this would at least get me reading it so I can be exposed to the rest of the marketing that I know you want to assimilate into my brain :)
Wotasku, 5x Phantom Summoner
Valor, Imperium
Devianne
Anyway, it was pretty much summed up then- too little, too late, and too uninformative to people who come to the main boards anyway.
I can say though, that I would actually read it if it had stuff like drop info, upcoming patch info, upcoming event info, important people interviews, in game pics captured by GM's!! Stuff like that would have me anticipating the next newsletter.
Ditto on what previous posters said. The newsletter is too short and it contains pretty dated news.
I'd rather see the equivalent of the LetterZine produced by NCKorea. And when they have a big Chronicle coming out, the LetterZine follows the launch of the Chronicle within a few days because they coordinate the LetterZine production (to contain the brand spanking new Chronicle news) with the Chronicle launch.
I like the design of the newsletter all in all and I usually read a good part of it.
It mostly contains only warmed up news which were already brought up discussed and buried on these boards... but in some cases like some event reviews a nice summary.
Imho the newsletter needs to be spiced up with some unique content to make it interesting for the forum trolls... well actually most L2 players troll one or another forum. And the rest probably play so casually to ignore the newsletter as well.
Well I think Newsletters are suppose to be covered with news. I mean everything in that news latter are things that we already know so can't be called news anymore. Maybe some don't but most do i guess.
To be honest i never read the news letter until i saw this topic.
Maybe adding some infos into the news letter that the site doesn't already have then it might increse more readers.
Infos about korean updates or stuffs like that maybe?
or infos about EULA and how many people were banned last month for breaking EULA rules and such.
For me, personally, because I check the official site regularly, it just serves as a reminder for events and such. I think they're well done, although maybe too graphics file dependent. Microsoft email programs like Outlook block out graphics now with default security settings so ..
But I think newsletters are very useful in interesting past players back into the game. It might remind them what they're missing.
I played SoR way back when, and I still get their news letters once in a while.. the game just isn't to my taste so I haven't gone back but the newsletters do make me consider it.
Like other already mentioned, we should recive informations about events etc. some time before everyone will know this from forum. Also IMO you should give us other informations like: 'what are your plan for the future development of L2 and L2 community', maybe you can inform us about some topic you discuss as NC NA department, some bio informations of GM's/Developer/Community Managers etc. will be nice too.
Sometimes we don't need to get strict game informations, but we need some which are related to it. Community and relations on level custorer / NC are the weakest point, so this kind of informations can help change this. Just share with us - we need this. Also Q&A it's really good idea in my opinion.

More advance notice of future events or upcoming news would be nice.
