I don't think I'd go that far. The 2nd and 3rd are gorgeous (and the not-placed ones I've seen too). But the first place is a better wallpaper for me (the left side needs be open for icons), and conveys a sense of story. Plus you gotta know that NCS would favor manga-ish style.
But none of them has a calendar :p
It's nice to see the talent and interest went apparently pretty deep.
I think that the Players of Lineage 2 should vote on the entries next time or the top 10 bc that pic of atheras the guy summited like beats all 3 of those to a bloody plub just my 2 cents :p
Its funny how the first wallpaper shows an Abyss Walker owning a Hawkeye because it never happens in-game ... it is inspiring though for those of us that play melee toons
In defence of the winner i think that anime art is more in theme with Lineage, since Lineage was originally based from Korean comics.
More traditional fantasy art is associated with paper RPGs and dungeon masters who live in their mom's basement. The Lineage demographic differs in that we're mainly PvP fantasy thrill seekers.
We're much cooler cats then our more traditional predecessors, we've even got healthy levels of female gamers, and I think thats what NCSoft are trying to convey with their wallpaper winners. Its less about PvE and exploration, its more about PvP and ownage.

WRONG!! HE's are probably my least feared opponents after the support classes :p Gotta love the sound of arrows missing their mark and whizzing by :D

Heh..I think they are all gorgeous and I appreciate how hard the decision was for the judges. Like I said they will all earn a place on my desktop which is more than can be said for some of those put out by the company :p
As for the first placer, I think it is well deserved. The picture has a lot of humour and **** undertones - a refreshing change from the overt and very (imo) unsexy "here is a Dark Elf, here are her bouncing boobs".
Though I dont expect some men to agree..especially that LordChaos ;)
