Anyway... on ts I've heard a lot of things said a lot of ways... it would be nice to know how they are officially pronounced, and how the community pronounces them.... so anyway here are some examples...

Giran:
Guy - ren
Here - on

Aden:
Aye - den
Ahh - den

Dion
Dee - on
Die - on

TOI
Tee - Oh - Eye
Toy

There are more... I just can't think of them... so anyway.... how do you pronounce them?!?!?!?!?!??!?!1

Giran
Varies between Je-ran and Gee-ran

Aden
Aye-den

Dion
Dee-on

TOI
When I speak to danish people, I say "toy", but in english, I say Tee Oh Eye. But sometimes I slip up, and say "toy" when speaking english.

what about "adena" though? I say "adeena".

edit: LOL @ "Sove-wrath (rhymes with stove)"
The "official" pronunciations would be:

Giran: gee-rahn

Aden: ah-den

Dion: dee-on

And adena is similarly "ah-den-ah", although I still mess up and say "a-dee-nah". :)
ah-den like when the dentist says "say ah"?
That's a good description, yep. :D

Hey that's pretty much the german pronounciation for the written words... at least for once that accent is useful. :)

So is Ancient Adena "ahn-chee-ant a-dee-nah"?

I can back this up 100%. I lived in Korea for 4 years, and all of my Korean friends would come over and make fun of our servers and such. :( But yeah, that's how they said everything.
I believe that gee is a dschi not a ghi.

But yay, I've been saying them correctly. :D

:O Looks like you are talking about towns in eastern Europe!

Dschi is lovely in the spring!
Heh, I'm only talking about pronunciation. Now you'll make me go on a wiki frenzy just to check if such a town really exists.

Eastern Europe? Had F in geography (http://btm.homeip.net/hirsch/usworld.gif) tests very often? :)

Cal

PS: No offense intended... :)

:O

Well, dschi made me think eastern europe becasue of all not enough vowels, but then it turns up in Africa.

Besides, everybody knows that Americans are the worst at geography. I went to high school with several people that couldn't even point to America, much less Armenia. Mississippi public schools ftw!
Gear-an
Ay-den

I know there is a dup thread on this very topic, but I thought I'd reply to the one with the GM response. Mainly because I have a question on your reply about how you say these. Where do you place the stress on the words you have shown us how to pronounce? Which syllable?
