I've seen some interest on this build floating around the board. Being that the game really doesn't have "builds", this is technically defined by a playing style.
A battle prophet is a melee prophet, and is ideally accompanied by a pet, or acts as support for a small group. The effectiveness of a Battle Prophet, like all melee classes, is heavily dependant on gear.
As a general tip, always use armor that gives extra p.def and HP bonuses. This is to offset the damage by your -8 CON. Ideally, the two SAs ye should look for are Health (again to offset the damage of low CON), and focus (when primary hunting targets are green and very quick to kill)
Obviously, a pet would be a great addition, especially with soul shots coming in C4. Wolves in particular benefit from the Prophet by the HP, P.def, and M.def buffs - which increases it's chances of surviving a few solid hits.
Definitely not for the faint of heart. Kids, don't try this at home. ;)
EDIT: To answer a few private PMs...
1. the 549 p.atk is highly unusual for a mystic. I can understand how some people would think the stats were "faked". However, the number is accurate. The score is a result of strength dyes, might and zerk (which both provide a % increase to p.atk), and +7 B grade duals (focus).
2. No, I do not recommend making a battle prophet as yer first character. As mentioned, it is a gear dependant class. If ye don't have the gear, and don't know how to make money efficiently... this class will irritate ye more then entertain ye.
3. Yes - the armor I'm wearing is heavy. Unfortunately, Zubei heavy textures don't exist for female mystics... and won't exist either in C4.
Just to let you know when I put my BoP +5 on my prophet for either solo or pvp her P atack is well over 600 so its not uncommon to see a prophet with a p atck over 500 if they are to be considereed a battle prophet, (note) i know of higher lvl prophets then me with higher P acks
I prefer the BW Heavy (partially because its easy to switch back to my robes for party) and a plused Damascaus with focus. I can't recall what my tats are on my 68 prophet but her patk is over 600 when buffed and I have a 500+ patk on my 60 prophet when buffed. My wolf is not any where near Mana yet but I am working on him.
I started soloing my 68 prophet due to lack of parties and my duo partners work schedule. I was suprised at how well she did, and undead mobs with Holy Weapon :) Though +6 BoP with root...umm yeah :D ;)
I probably should have left out the p.atk thing. Now everyone's gonna miss the point of this thread and start up a p.atk contest with their bows. ;)
As stated, a battle prophet is a coined term for a prophet in melee (most likely in heavy). That p.atk score comes from a melee weapon, and is only achievable if ye've +4 str, full buffs including zerk, and a melee weapon equal to, or better then a +7 Tsu*Sls. Not everyone has access to a weapon of that calibur, or is willing to cut back on CON the way I did, that's why I call it unusual.
I repeat, battle prophet is melee. Of COURSE yer bows will push higher p.atk scores because those bows have like 2-billion times base p.atk then other weapons of the same grade. ;) I suppose we could always call ye an archer prophet - since ye root/bow types seem to be jumping in on this thread. ;)
Awesome Kiranya, I've always been interested in magic/melee hybrids (consequently my main is a summoner), and although L2 is more flexible than other games, they are still intolerant in most cases. Good to see someone trying something new :D
InnerConflict. I would have at least expected ye to call me a noob or something. ;)
Yes - I'm strictly PvE. That's how I play me game with this character. However, for sake of arguement, I do have another character that I deal death with - but I have to keep "his" identity secret - less any sour apples come looking for retribution on me wolves. :D
Heavy armor textures are in C4... I could have sworn I've seen a Human Sorc main, sub SwS in BW have a cool looking texture to it - and it looked heavy.
Battle Buffers are very very efficent. I've tested out WC on the PTS and have equiiped it in tallum heavy & duel kesh. With my self buffs i can easily gain better stats then any other melee class which uses its self buffs. My WC has superior p atk / p def & atk speed then my gladiator o.O.
I feel the age of the melee mages is on the way...
Actually, melee mages are easier to play (in terms of player challenge) than just about any other fighter class (except archers) - they only attack and then heal when their HP drops. :p
However, melee mages are an invention as ancient as ... oh, C1? It's just that the buffers are finally catching on to the fact that the summoners who DD alongside their servitors must be on to something. ;)

My SE with full buffs at lvl 69 and no tatoos affecting str or con or dex using a PL light armor set had 1100+ patk with a +3 carnage bow. I was critting angels on toi 10 and 11f for 2k damage with bd dances.
as per the original post, yeah duals are the way to go if you want to be a DD proph/se/ee/wc. I have toyed with makingmy SE as a battle SE many times. when I was around 67 I used to solo in FG off green mobs very effectively, getting the same expI would get from a group over time. My weapon of choice was Dual Damascus, I had around 650 patk with them when i was buffed. I used BW leather Armor and after 3 or 4 mobs I would have to throw myself a heal. So I had absolutely no down time except to rebuff. With me approaching LVL 76 I am going to try and do another setup again with my SE with DC light armor and S grade duals in early c4. I'll change my tattoo setup again and see what I come up with. With the SA bonus on the S grade duals I am attempted to lower my con a bit. :) It's gonna be fun.
I never thought about using a pet to help me though.
Here is a link to my old experiment without BD buffs. this is with carnage bow, I will have to look onmy other computer for pictures with dual damascus.

Again with the bow posts - keep it in yer pants. I explained later in the thread that it was melee weapon and at level 55. :p If I could edit it out, I would - but unfortunately, it's past the time limit.
lol i got melee pics on my non work machine, but I dont have much time while not at work to look at forums, so this weekend i'll show some screenies of my carzy SE with dual damascus.
what's intyerestinmgis our guilds lvl 75prophet is classedto be a dd/tank prophet. She has -10 to her str when sporting doom hvy and uses either a kris with focus or DemonSword with Crit Damage. With he bonus to her dex (+5 dex) with the kris she crits nearly every hit and with the DS she crits every other for damage comparable to a lvl 75 TH using same gear,
Duals without dualmasteries has lower dmg/sec than dagger and same as one handed sword. So I prefer dagger with crit dmg or onehnaded sword with either health or focus. I will make ss of my prophet with my soulsep and maj heavy. But still my TH+healing pots is much faster soloer than proph :(

The trick is, mystics have masteris for every weapon. They do more damage per two swings and attack slightly slower. My brother, a warcryer, has +str, +6 focus duals, and BW heavy. He has nearly 1k patk buffed up, 1200ish after Soulcry is toggled on. Only problem is extremely low hp (and carry weight, the bastard), so its very much a pve setup.
PS: Kiryana, you may remember Mayalen. ;) He had both robes and heavy, aoba and valhala back in c1. (Lucky punk...60% crafting for the win) It's because of C2 that the idea of the MP maxed prophet came about, because they needed to have robes to be able to rebuf 9 melee classes. With the introduction of C3 and the small xp party, things are much simpler and easier, giving prophets more options. Unfortunately, so many have quit already... :(
I've been developing my Prophet to be battle worthy from a time when the only response I was dealt was either mild interest, amusement or complete disdain.
So far I've accomplished a p.atk of 616, p.def of 879 self buffed without Zerk.
With zerk, my p.atk is 666, p.def of 760ish. I use tattoos, +4 SLS*SLS (Blew up my meteor shower going +4) and BW Heavy (All +4). Currently, I am level 67.
Keep in mind, I have not sacrificed my ability to be a buffer for an entire party of 9 with no assistance provided I can sit down the majority of the buff round to regen mp.
Well I have changed my setup again So here it is....
My Stats (http://img79.imageshack.us/img79/6051/shot000644jm.jpg)
I didnt have a SWS avail to show song of hunter and earth
With those buffs my Pdef is 738, and my Crit rate is 284
Gear: +4 Soul Seperator w/Crit Damage SA, Majestic Robes
NOTE: MY HP is messed up because i just removed my +5 con tattoo,so 3370 was my old HP total and 2917 is my new HP total, i gained about 85 patk by removing the +5 con -5 str.
Glav, i am playing prophet really long time. Weapon mastery adds to every weapon, but it doesnt add Weapon mastery bonus to swing of each sword of dualsword. It adds absolute (not %) amount of patk to your patk. 2 swings of dualswords is just graphics effect. Just multiply your patk*attack speed and its your DPS, and try both duals/dagger/whatever and you wills ee difference.
The two swings of dual swords are not only graphic; you hit two times; this swings, in the other hand, is only one attack ingame (kinda hard to explain - you hit two times, you have two chances of making a caster fail for example; But you hit for only half of your patck each swing, and if click to attack only once, you will always attack twice - and you crit for only a half of your patck.)
Right now, I only have a Battle Cleric myself, she is in her early 20s but I have lot of fun playing with her.
When I started her I used her to heal a friend that just started playing L2. Just healing, lots of downtime, boring. But when she hit 20 I gave her a full Manticore Set and a set of Duals 107. Now I deal damage as much as my friend (who has not a lot of money, so he have cheaper gear), the mobs drop fast, I don't have to heal a lot, and there is almost no downtime!
But since I was playing with a friend, I didn't play with my wolf much, he's still only level 16. But the couple of time I used him, I liked it a lot, so I'll level him in the futur.
i got a strider that will lvl with me... im 55 hes 50 and with top wep and armor. :) So it'll be Tsurgi*SLS (Price check plz... on lionna) and BW Heavy. What tatoos? i was thinkin +Str - Con
Prophet is capable of fast heals and fast kills without the 5 second pause between each heal or DOT cast. In smaller parties, or even solo, there is enough mp to go around after buffs for heals and other spells.
Great solo character, especially with return 2 and fast and cheap self heals. Got a long range pull spell that costs only 3mp.
More efficient at pet raising. If the pet dies, the prophet just raises and rebuffs it. A warcryer may experience downtime because the mp cost of rebuffing a pet may be extreme.
The orcs are a fantastic class - but they're "slow and steady", where their killing speed is limited by their casting speed. Battle Prophets are for those who want to dumb down the situation and just wreck things up in melee with no pause between each mob.
Pick and choose - if yer having fun - it doesn't matter which way ye go. :D
Meh...the thing is that while those are big numbers, you're looking at a lvl 78 and comparing it to a lvl 55 AND his increased dmg spells are a constant mana drain where the proph has consistent numbers for 20 minute stints...
I'm not saying by any means that a WC isn't a mean mammer jammer....but I'd take my proph for soloing above any other class I've played.
I did the SR thing in C1....wee! Did the TH in early C2....wee! But in C3 I went with a proph and I'll never go with anything else...Kat is correct when she says they are a very gear-dependent class but at 53 she's using +10 dual spirits so her HP is at about 3k, and the BW heavy works as a perfect complement.
She hits harder and has more life than most BD's or SwS...can heal quickly and can sleep/root to get out of harms way...and best of all her mana regens fast enough that she never sits...not that sitting is as grueling as it was back in the OB days....but never sitting, the string of buffs, the random spell, the high surviability (I can run, and battle heal on the fly, through AB and not worry about sprinting from the Outlaw Forest to Aden without bothering to dodge groups all that much at the cost of a few BSpS-C) make her a blast to play, and regardless of how versatile a WC is, most groups will have an SE anyway...so prophets are still in as much demand as they always were if I get bored keeping myself company. :)
It was an Over Lord BTW. & the only problem i have with battle prophets are their low dex, even with guidence 3 means they miss alot, where as bd & sws who you claimed were weaker actually dont miss much have damage skills (BD anyway) and have a better suited melee play style. Heavy armour prophets are good for pve tho, but wouldnt use for large parties/sieges/raids/pvp situations.
I disagree. I've played a Prophet since Day 1 of Teon's existence, and let me tell you, sieging as a heavy armor 'battle prophet' build, I was trully amazed. I can consistantly beat any equal level Gladiator or BD, and I'm about dead even with the nukers out there.
Trust me, Kiranya has it right, and I can tell you from experience, it's nothing to be triffled with ;)
Theres no way im going to believe you when you say you can go toe-2-toe with a gladiator and beat it. Not possible, even if the glad had no buffs, tried and tested.

Hehe its good to see that you love your class :) I really think a battle prophet is a very nice class and also a fun to play class. But... your comments about "the orcs" isnt really accurate. I play a WC myself.
Let me explain you why:
Sure we cast a bit slower, but this really doesnt make us PVE slower (solo). First of all we get chant of vampire (same as vampiric rage buff) so we do not need to heal as often as a prophet. So after a few mobs we'll have to get some hp back. To do this we use our nuke. First of all this nuke takes away arround 1/3 (variable :P) of the mobs HP and heals you for 80% of the damage. A second advantage of this nuke is that it gets updated every time you get new skills, unlike the prophets heal. So in the end a prophet will have to heal more often.
The orc has better melee base stats so with a same setup, orcs will always have an advantage.
The real advantage a Prophet has over a WC is the WW and zerk buff, so the time running between mobs will take a lot less time, especially helpfull when soloing out in the open :P
Take in account that I'm comparing 60+ chars, at lower lvls the difference is smaller because a prophets gets the usefull buffs earlier.
Nerf only happening on polearms and bows, *not* on dual swords, read the official korea patch notes.
Im wearing tallum heavy right now, I think that +8% att speed is much more beneficial than a slight Pattack increase I would get from maj heavy.
My main is a PW so I have tried daggers, the problem with them is a prophet has very little accuracy, so end up missing a lot even on greens. I found duals work perfectly for me.

oh, the text is changed. dual sword were in before, my fault
btw, my only points goes to a sword focus and a dagger (more on swords).
I'v tried with dagger and the missrate was not that bad, but when I tried with a sword, I was able to take the last hit on ppl ;)
I had only and sls, and I did that with high lvl mobs and high lvl pgs..
I wish I never stopped playing and tryed with something like damascus or dle :)
Wee, I said Maj heavy OR Drac leather :)
I was poiting for leather armor, as I used bw light and found it so much perfect, both with p.def and casting speed.
I wasn't so much rich, so I never thought of buying something higher than that :/
Doing some reflections, Draconic leather would be very good.
And for A grade, DC leather is nice as well ;)
The duals swords will not be affected to the Prophet. Only Bows & Polearms will be nerfed for mages, but Prophets can use duals swords! *WOOT* just got my BG Duals. So excited to use them on my Prophet :)
I just thought Id post of screen sot of my battle Prophet.
Non buffed 511 p.atck
Full Prophet Buffs 623 p.actk
Buff as I would go hunting 692 p.atck (melee)
Now before people start mentionning that she has an extra non-prophet buff I know. My screen shot is in an example of my p.atck while Im in a group for pve. I always hunt with the same 3 people and we always have a BD.
My objective here is to prove that Prophets can have a pretty decent melee p.actk considering they are a mystic, further proving that a 2 box prophet is a waste of potential.
Maj or DC robe Set imo with an acumen/health weapon (i prefer acumen), battle healing, root, block shield ww, fast cast speed, fast rez, not that bad pdef, fast rebuffing. I always played my porphet like this and i saved a lots of ppl with that, my root pretty much ownz and really good at high lvl. But everyone got his own play style
Your not suppsed to be healing your a prophet = pure buffer >< get a SE in your groups!
fast rebuffing.
Okay, fine you rebuff faster. There are ways to get around that even if your in heavy most of time.
fast rez,
LMAO!
THAT IS THE FUNNIEST THING I HAVE EVER HERD!!!!!
That is just too funny. "Pick me! Pick me! Im the fester rezer out there!" LOL.
What kinda people do you play with???? They expect the prophet to heal and you rez alot!?!?!
Nvm.... expecting a prophet to heal explains the rezing part :D
I agree that people should play the clas sthey enjoy playing and everyone has different playstyles....
But dont mind me, Im just laughing my *** off trying to figure out why youve got healing/rezing duty..... they might as well get a lvl 35 Cleric since they as good as you for healing/rezing. LOL

Im sure in PvP situtaions especially small encounters every heal is helping and a rez at the correct time can usually secure victory
In PvP rezzing and battle healing is very useful even from prophet.
And in PvE I was manytimes the main healer in group. Even in LRoom/DN/Ketra groups. 400 hp heals are not that bad and with 5200max mp and good mp regen you can heal enough. And rezzing during antharas raid etc is good too.
Bah fine :(
Rezing in pvp and raids is fine.
But saying that you res fast in normal pve is just depressing.
I still think prophets shouldnt get healing duty.
As I said, you might as well take a lvl 35 cleric instead, they will do as good a job and everyone else gets more xp. I do use Battle heal time to time, but thats just in situations were our main healer is stunned.
I hate healing, I hate being in a group where they expect my Prophet to be main healer. I'm not a healer & I haven't had any updated healing skills since level 35. Our rez isn't really the greatest either, we give back 20% till at least 56 when we might get another skill increase to it. My clan uses my Prophet as a fighter. grouped with a sorc, SE & Prophet I'm the main tank, add in a destroyer & I'm a back up damage dealer & I LOVE IT :D *I don't want to heal, cry's* :p
