"Ah, 15% of my duo partner's 6500hp, that's gonna be a sweet heal. Lemme drop one on myself just to see what 15% of my own hp are...What the HECK? A 3 minute reuse timer? @#$%! I just got pwnd by NCSoft!"
Seriously, I spent 100Ka on a SB and 41K sp to get this thing. What's its use? The only thing I can see it being used for is some kind of chain heal with like...a million other bishops in a castle siege, and even then, the reuse timer is seriously long.
Some bad-[censored] bishop needs to write up a guide for us so future generations can avoid the pains of bishop skill buying. (Ellebelly? You out there?)
It's one of those when-the-poo-hits-the-fan type skills, like party recall. It's not a heal you would use all the time, but on a tank, in an emergency, it's a great skill.
At higher levels it goes up to 30% from what I can see. And its great at the beginning of a raid. Outside a raid, no, I'm not sure what you'd use it for.
I have made good use of that spell when in the catacombs with a full party. My poor little bishop is only lvl 48 and the group was 60+. We had an overlord with us to do most of the healing, but the main tank was getting hit hard and lost hp over time (no downtime in that group), so every now and then I was using the restore life on them to heal for about 4x the hp that a single greater heal would have done. When there was an emergency in between, I was just spamming battle heal.
Let me dig up the bloody colours and pictures... <growls>
EDIT: Alas, it appears that my coloured post fell off the edge of the boards. :( I'll see if I have the screenshots somwhere to reproduce it, but I doubt it - either way, any increase in cast time also increases reuse delay - if you think about it, how else does cast speed actually increase burst damage?

I think you are right. It seems like when Im with WCs my UD reuse regens faster since i have acumen chant from WC.
I love Restore Life... as was said, it's great on a tank in emergency... yes, a long time regen, but to use Restore Life then regular greater heal as a one-two shot can get a tank back almost to full hp when he's down to 25%. 1/3 of the HP is a lot on a 60+ DA..
Acumen and Zerk decrease magic skill recharge time. This is totally obvious and beyond any doubt. Use a skill with slow recharge (like group heal, recharge, or even better an aoe skill like blazing circle) and just check how many seconds it takes from clicking the skill (the recharge animation on the button starts) to the "ding" sound which signals "skill is good to go again". Then give the caster acumen3 and check it again. I just checked it on my subbed sorc - blazing circle has a 9s recharge timer (lol had dusk debuff on me, **** divine guys ninja'd the festivals :) ), and with an acumen2 pot this went down to a bit less than 8s, with acumen3 pot it was 7s. Just check it yourself. As somebody said up there - if increasing casting speed would not also decrease skill recharge time, there would be no increase in damage/s for nukers when they put on acumen weapons. Because they still would only be able to do the same number of nukes per time.
Now something else is that many people claim giving a nuker HASTE would decrease skill recharge time, too. Could not notice any difference with haste2 on me, though.
I am! Oh , you're taking this spell all wrong! ^ ^
It is NOT an emergency heal. It is NOT a siege heal. Not even close, not even with a million other bishops. It doesn't cast fast! Look at my site (http://www.elliebelly.net) if you're bored sometime, I don't keep it on my F6 key on my main bar because it's a stupid heal.
It is however a tank and orc heal. At 30% at any rate.
It is most definitely a raid boss heal, especially chained with another bishop. What we use to do is have two of us in with the tank and take turns using it, calling out "restore life" in TS. If needed we throw a regular heal out until restore life recharges, then resume. It saves so much mp it's crazy. And the reason for letting the other bishop or other healers know when you are using it is the timing. It's pointless to cast restore life if the tank has more than 60% of their health.
Nothing sours your day worse than hitting restore life and having two other healers heal the target up to 90% hp before it lands.
With a HP tank (DA for instance, don't bother on a SK) we use to use it with massive AOE parties even with me as the only healer. (I don't advise it, makes your hair turn white) Tank takes a massive beating, final fortress kicks in, regular heal once, restore life, kill mobs, regular heals. Recharges before next pull. (you need a recharger but that's besides the point). My old clan leader was really the only one that knew to put that heal to use.
Ah, haven't visited this thread in quite a while. Elly is completely correct as usual. This isn't an emergency heal. Good points have been made.
I'd also like to take the time to apologize. Yes, spell reuse timers are effected by acumen. Up to this point I haven't had a long enough spell reuse timer to verify.
Anyway, the reason I dredge this old thread up is because I have a question. Is the % healed based on BASE hp, or BUFFED hp? Because I have been grouping with a dorf who has 5K hp buffed, yet the spell looks like it isn't doing the 20% (1K) heals that it should be based on the description. It seems to be closer to 700+, which is about 20% of his base hp of 3500+.
Just eyeballing his HP bar seems to bare this out, but then again, maybe he can't count. I haven't been the one looking directly at his hp numbers.
Hmm I'm not sure if you can even tell, last time I checked restore life didn't show how much it actually healed. Like if I cast greater heal on myself it will say "healed 1000 hp" or whatever. I thought restore life just says "use restore life".
Take your before hp and after hp. You can come close. Yes, it's very annoying that it doesn't tell you the amount. But if it did, bishops would realize that blessed has no affect on it and be angry about that too. (Well, it does make it faster casting I guess, so that's a plus.)
