So I tried to tune in yesterday to the castle sieges that were suppose to take place. I believe 2 were cancelled and the other 2 seemed to not happen anyway. Did I miss something? I was watching Aden and GoA was standing in front for almost 2 hours doing nothing at all ... I figured maybe this was a gathering period that takes place before a large raid but the number of people peaked around 22 and then slowly fell off to maybe 12 or so. Where was the actual castle seige?
At the other location it seemed like Ao1 was just hanging out front, possibly defending, killing the random 1 or 2 guys that would wander over there ...
So how exactly are these castles seiges suppose to happen and why exactly does it seem like they didnt. Is the system not working correctly or did I just have to sit around longer for something to actually happen?

castle sieges startet when c1 came and allmost none haven't tryed em so it's not like they are a big event, only a few times they do matter. La2 is politics and power. Which are shown in castle sieges and daily pvp(alliance vs alliance, clan vs clan). Some clans just sign up to either make their enemy use money on castle defenses(and they don't show up) or just to get some cheap pvp(1/4 exp loss in castle sieges). But sometimes it's big if u look 1 month back there was 20+ clans vs covernant(3 clans). As for this siege then there was no treat but covernant gonna show up at any enemy that wanna fight em, small enemys aswell as big enemys.
Castle seiges need some tweaking to keep people from just signing up then not showing up.
Maybe take a line from Lineage 1 where the loosers from the seige are KOS to the town guards for a day (or longer in l2)
One thing to remember though. If your clan signs up to seige then you and the castle defending clans are at war for those 2 hours. Yes if you die on a seige ground you lose 1%, but while at war you can be killed anywhere. If you die off seige ground you lose the common 4%
i dont know about aden but at gludio we had a good fight.
in the first 10min of the siege the attackers AoW and EternalFlame blew a big hole into our west wall so there wasnt really much going on at the front gate :)
ao1 had a lot of help from friends so we outnumbered the attackers a bit
it was at least 90min of fighting at that breach in the wall against very brave and good attackers. sadly u could not see that from the broadcast tower :(
imho that siege had all a good siege needs:
a wyvern, a golem, a cannon, good attackers, good defenders, not much outside (unregistered) interfearance.
so i personally felt it was a good siege.
my feeling about sieges in general would:
yes: signing up and not showing really sucks. especially for the europeans that have to get up at 4am on a sunday to take part. i would agree with any game mechanics that would force clans to come to a siege when they signed (maybe some kind of siege fee that must be payed in advance or as suggested a prolonged after siege war period). imho its no big deal if u give up after 2 to 3 rushes when u se u have no chance there but if u sign be there.

countess if u killed by a defender off siege grounds as an attacker its 1% at least anytime i was every killed off siege grounds it was 1%. If your flagged its a different story thats 4% loss but otherwise its just like a clan war for those 2 hours.
Thanks for the answers everyone, I was starting to think politics actually stopped castle seiges from taking place. I did notice the people in Gludio running around to the side but I could not figure out why, I didnt know castle walls could be breached in such a manner. I was under the impression you had to go through the front door. Perhaps they should give more options for the broadcast towers then.
according to the offical l2 notes from c1 i think it was thats the case.
If you lose 4% to someone of the opposite color *you blue them red* then you should petition for xp refunded.
Now if you both the same color and kill each other off siege grounds im not sure how that works because well i never fought anyone on the same side as me but like when aden fell we were all on the same side as covenant so it might of happened then but i wasnt involved in any pvp off siege grounds at that siege.
while a castle seige is going on if there is a clan/allience that isnt regestered there should be something preventing them from messing with whats going on, on the seige grounds for say if they wanted to fight they should have regestered instead of messing with someone elses fight
Leave it open but make it so that you have to pay for your base camp at the time of sign up. This would stop the constant no shows that occur on every server.
