I have been playing 24 hours...yesterday was okay although a little boring in elven noobtown. In any case I was not discouraged, as most of these games are 1 ability deals to start.
Then I log in today, I am level seven still in elven noobtown. I sit down on the road to go grab some dinner, so I am effectively afk. Some guy named popalatop kills me while I am gone. Then I respawn in noobtown, walk out to kill some wolves, and a guy named Bastig starts hitting me for half my health per shot while I am in battle.
Is this the community I am playing with? When I ran back into the town he then claimed he wasnt going to kill me, then proceeds to start hitting me again.
Seriously folks, I have no problem with pvp, but this is stupid. If this game is about cl plus 20s killing single digits than I have made a mistake, and the community of this game is nothing but a bunch of griefers. I had hoped for better since my last game screwed us.
Hey don't let it get you down. When I first started playing somebody was trying to heal my mobs...at first I wasn't sure what he was doing...but then I figured it out...and ran away as fast as I could...lol!
This isn't the majority of the L2 community though. This is like 5% of it...and 2% of that likes to go to noob towns. At least when I played there were other noobs around and we would ban togeather to try to stop these ********...but I know how the noob towns are now.
I also realize that many people from rival servers like to make noob PKers on other servers.
Anyway I am not gonna make this post longer than needs be...so...if you wan't to give me your ingame name...I can try to contact you in game and I can put you on my friend list. If you keep getting killed by these people in noob land...tell me and I will help out. Good luck!
Me too :) Angel and I actually teamed up in AC once to catch one of the more notorious perma red PKers. Too bad he force logged with my sleep and root on ><
It sucks that you are having a hard time on Kain. Lineage seems to have a lot of things in commen with real life. Just like there are a lot of good people on Kain, it also has it's share of bad people. There are people on this server I can trust with my gear and others I wouldn't leave antidotes with.
Don't get discouraged. Noob Pkers are scum and have nothing better to do but rack up pvp points on NOOBS!
But do expect PvP. That's what it is all about. Yes it's fun to get your levels, skills and gear. But ultimately it's all for is PvP. That's why people work so hard to get the best they can.
But you can't categorize Kain as a bunch of greifers. You have your carebears, greifers and then there's everyone else.
Well I am in the process of reinstalling now. Last night was a bit frustrating. The prices of items as well as the "pks" had me down. The truth is I want to like this game, overall it is beautifully done, and the coverage of c4 on mmorpg has been very positive. I guess I need to hit 10 as soon as possible and move into a group. Thank you all for the encouragement!
Pking will always happen. I know it's hard to grasp...but it IS part of the game. I've been a noob before and it was pretty frustrating. Things get more expensive the higher you get. The leveling slows down as well. But you have more fun the higher you are.
Make friends and have some fun. It gets better trust me.

i have only had one char not encounter griefers. and i was just lucky that time. but once you get outta the newbie towns it is easier. you will still encounter reds. and alot of higher level people are willing to help out. alot of times if they are in town they will go out and grief the griefer. which is always heartwarming to see. :D this is a good game, and lord knows i'm no good at pvp. (my main is a healer...so double whammy) but i still have lots of fun here. so basically don't give up.

Thanks for the support. I was quite angry when I wrote this, but I hope you will also understand I was (and still am) quite new to the game, and I wasn't up on the complete open pvp of it all.
As for now, I am level 14 (6 then), and actually having a bit of fun now that I see people walking around. For the first few days I thought the murderer and I were the only two people on the server.

You should be seeing some protection around the Noob Elftown tonight.. I'm up for a bit of PK'er hunting.. Some shmuck try'd to train me and my wolf in Partisan Hideaway so my anti PK'er PK'er is close by.. :D
Man it has gotten a lot worse than when I started. I have a newer char (24) who has been hunting around Dion/EG. The PKers are thick as thieves these days! Holy crap. My noob has been pk'd at least 4 times in the past 2 days, all by different players. Scabies, Sharx, Chamber, Shinoka.
No wonder new people are getting upset. To me it doesn't matter much to die but if you were just starting out I can see saying "screw this" pretty easily.
I am one mp regen away from cl 20 now, and I am looking forward to the profession quest tonight :). This isn't galaxies (old galaxies)(where I come from) for sure, but I am having a blast at the moment. I havent had any problems since that day. In fact, I have met so many people who have helped out it makes me :o. I underestimated the community in this game I think. SWG had a great community, you have no idea how much different the commmunity here is making for me at the moment.

The ones screwing around with you are the loosers of this game. They either cannot make it past level 40 or they have higher level charaters and cannot cut playing high levels around other high levels.
When you get away from the stater towns you'll do better.
LOL! Scabies is a well known [Censored] Pk'er. He has been killed many times by Uniki and now force logs when he sees him. He has even logged out after I've ran after him. Which I think is extreamly amusing being that I'm ONLY a EE.
Pm me in game if you encounter Scabies. We love to kill him! It's a hobby of ours when we're not leveling with the clan. Sharx is also a sad Pk'er. Spends a lot of his time at the arena. Totally perma red! I've heard about his karma count. Can you say YIKES!
Griefers are just lame sad little kids who don't have any friends. And crave to have some type of contact with other players. Most likely they have low self esteem just like bullies and get their jollies only when picking on others. Maybe their daddy beat them. ROFL! O maybe I shouldn't laugh.
It's one thing to PvP with peeps your level, and get the score for it. But pretty pathetic to get your PvP count up on peeps who don't have a fighting chance.

Well if anyone cares...seems he is trying to work off some red. LOL! He was spotted by a clan mate running to Blazing Swamp. Around 8-9 pm PST. So if he's still working on it...feel free to possibly get some drops. Have to kill him quick tho...he likes to force log and Bsoe.
Well, on one hand, it does suck having people coming up to PK you... but if they're just lower lvl players coming up and hitting you just hit them back. No harm in a little PvP. You lose, takes a whole 5min to get the xp back, no biggie... plus, it'll help you early on to learn the PvP mechanics of L2.
But the griefing is lame, no doubt. Working on my dwarf in EG I couldn't believe how many PKers/trainers I had seen just in a few hours time. I can't (completely) say it's a bad thing though, as the thought of a possible PK maybe popping up made the grind a little more fun, as you never knew what might happen. And if you die, well... that much is definitely a big part of the game. But hey, we all need SP, just look at what those 76+ skills require. ;)

Sorry to tell you this but this is the game and community you got yourself into.
I would of quit the game long ago if i wasn't 75/75 arleady spent too much time already might as well checking out the new highest lv area.
But there are many botters scammers also kids that afk bot their char up then comes to kill random people. Since all they do is afk botting so they don't care about dying. Which making the game and communinty very back. You will see more bad people and botter like that once you in higher lv town where most people is.

I don't agree with that statement totally, just because a toon is red doesn't mean its a afk botter..alot of toons kill those. Bots are annoying, but theres areas you won't see them because of the aggro or the mobs take too long to kill. this isn't a locus plaque of bots. I've not had bots attack me just annoy me if I'm working the same area. If I'm annoyed enough PKPKPKPKPKPK!!! ooops hehehee
Scabies smokes me on a bi weekly basis...begging/bartering doesnt work. For me I usually just go back tot own and !shout the issue and some nice high levels usually go run protection, although from what they tell me Scab is a coward when someone who can take him is running his way.
Try to get leveling spots that are out of the way (off the beaten path, so to speak) the lil bit of extra time getting there is worth the effort as most (in my experience) pkers/griefers are L A Z Y and won't work (travel a great distance looking for) people to work over.
Stick to it and make friends as quickly as possible...think about your class change and possible gears and ask for advice, most of all be patient. The game has its rewards, you just gotta get kicked in the face a few hundred times to be able to see em :)

Lately in Giran some people keep shouting that they are looking for Scabies. Is Scabies out and about again? PvP on Kain is nowhere near as exciting as it was in c1/c2. It would be nice to see some predators around again.
Yes Scabies is back. Heard some lowbies crying the other day. I hope it encourages others like Brawd (sp?) to return. Perma Reds are used to be the heart and soul of Kain...

psh, griefing of any kind always drives a man wild..but sadly this is an MMO based on pvp and so "Techniqually" they aren't doing anything wrong...but no most of us aren't like that
They quit when they couldnt pk toons 30+ lvls lower than them anymore and as they suck so much at killing there own lvl they quit. There the worse "PVP'ers ive ever seen in this game, funny to watch them force log/BSOE tho then cry in PM's.
