Ok for now I'm putting the topic of PVP aisde. I'd like to post about simple ideas and additions to the game. I feel some could make life in LineageII more enjoyable. Many of my ideas are very simple and I do believe that NCSoft could pull them off.
Now in my opinion, besides that balance of pvp we all long for... ( well not all but the melee classes )... what this game needs is more life, casual fun and simple events. C4 is introducing things like fishing and even monsters than help your characters, these and many other things are a great addition to the game. Besides the pvp I see NCSoft improving the world itself. Now simple things could make this growing game much better in my eyes. I've got a long list of ideas and they keep coming so bare with me.
1. Ambient life such as wild animals. Such as deer that galop away if you attack them. I'd welcome the sight of birds in the sky and fish in the water. You see many random buildings and homes if you roam the world of LineageII, sadly they have no purpose. Mearly adding NPC's to these buildings could add a more life-like feeling to the world. Also some of these you just don't see moving between towns, perhaps special features could be added to the ones that are more remote. Such as party with music and dancing. You all remember the C2 trailer, in it there was a party/festival with players dancing and music playing. Perhaps NPC's dancing 24/7 would seem to unreal so have these NPC's spawn at night like some of the new monsters in C4! I'd also like to see more life with monsters. Random Orc or lizardmen camps in the middle of nowhere. The idea just hit me, perhaps orcs could spawn sitting around a campfire telling stories, or speaking to each other. I'd like to see special or even normal NPC's move around, perhaps on paths set through towns. How about battles between other monsters? Perhaps in large feilds you could have a random small skirmish between waring monsters such as Orcs, Lizardmen, undead etc... Maybe like C4 ( with the orcs and goat things ) you could pick a side. A spawning npc would appear your speak with, ask to help and fight along with a side of your choice, and gain rewards if you win! These are some of my ideas for ambient life in LineageII
2. Small events are very possible and would add so much to this game in my eyes. For starters monster raids on towns and castles, would be great. For towns there is of course many people of different level ranges so smaller raids with some what weak monsters would be the way to go. The purpose is not to make it a callenge but to add excitment and cooperation. A group of Monsters spawn by the gate of a town and rush in and start attacking PC's. Such a thing would make towns more lively and interesting with that "us vs mobs" feel, instead of a sea of shops and afk's. Of course I can see people saying that people afk dying from these raids is unfair. I have an idea for that whitch I'll mention later. Monster raids on castles would be awsome, just think about it for a secound there. Try this idea out in your head, just picture it. An army of Orc's spawning outside the castle gates and the world is alerted that an army of monsters is attacking "such and such" castle! Sertin monsters would spawn and attack the gate while other such as archer or mages attack PC's on the walls. In a normal castle siege you have the tug of war effect with pvp. Archers on the ground will run up to the wall shoot then run away so not to die. Very lame to watch IMO. Now your archer/mage character shooting down waves of orcs with no fear of death as they swarm your castle walls! I'd like to see that for **** sure! With the idea there could be a leader monster sort of like a weak raid boss, that'd add the need of more effort and teamwork to take down. This monster would not attack the gate but hang back and just watch from the rear. However the siege would not end until this monster is killed. Thus a clan has to either pull together whatever member it can or ask for help from ally clans. Thou to be fair this monster would not be nearly as powerful as a raid boss because it's likely that clans may not be able to conjur up the forces needed so quickly. Another idea is that our of pure luck of randomness you could stumble upon a small group of monsters protecting a treasure! Such as a large sum of adena of scrolls of enchants or bsoe's depending on the level of the area you are in. The rewards would need to be worthy of the work, but not huge rewards like full b-a grade drops. Pherhaps mats for crafting like 4-5 dark crystal boots lining or 2-3 b grade armor enchants. Well those are just some thoughts on smaller in-game events.
3. Casual fun is totaly need for this game. There is nothing to do but grind, grind, grind, die get mad then grind to get the exp you lost grinding back! More mini-games MUST be added. Fishing in C4 is a great idea and is totaly welcome for me. Now I know NCSoft could make many more casual things like this for us to enjoy! One idea I've had for a very long time is Stryder races! These would be alot of fun and a great boost for stryder popularity. Players with stryders pay a fee that's acceptible, so if you lose your not hurt for your adena, but enough to make winning appealing. Running around in the open world of LineageII can have a nasty effect on some players computer so perhaps there could be a special course that's enclosed from the rest of the world ( like the lair of Antharas ) to minimize computer and connection lag. If different characters on styrders have different speeds whitch I don't know myself, make them equal in the race. Players could race through cave tunnles or mazes to make it so players can't just click on the horizon and keep a steady pace. Remember the pumpkin growing event? I'd love to see a Large farm building where players can grow their own pumpkins or other such things and like in the event break them open to get prizes. Make this part of a quest, to go out and gain nectars from surtin monsters. Also make it take a little more effort to grow these pumpkins and the rewards smaller so that it's not the event all over again. Things like that though could be called in-game hobbies and make playing much more enjoyable. I mentioned before about parties and festivals, why not add one every month in Aden castle town for example. It could be held in the castle courtyard, with music playing. Can you say fireworks, special party wear like hats and coustumes. This could be a monthly event where people could purchase outfits that are simular to the wedding outfits of C4. Only you can only wear these items in the castle courtyard during the event. Free gifts for everyone who attends such as echo crystals and fireworks could be given by party NPC's. Thus giving people a reason to come. I know there may be flaws in my ideas like this one but I'm sure people would find such things fun and they could be worked out.
4. Other ideas to make the game a little better. I mentioned before I had an idea for shops that are afk. Now the idea of a auction house has been posted over and over, and I will admit I was one of those all for it. Now on the occasion that there never is an auction house I have an idea for shops that may make things work out a little better. Now how about a Market for players to set up shop in. I played a game long ago that had a large special area would people would set up shops in an organized manner. My idea is players who wish to open a shop can talk to a market NPC and choose from different options. First off there could be a selling area, a buying area and a crafting area. The game I played before had shops set up in rows to make it easy to view and move about when shopping. Players could port to the market place from the NPC and move about the different areas. This could make shopping much easier and overpricing would take a hard hit as prices could be compared so much easier, people would have to lower prices to beat the person a few spots down from them! If you see some flaw in this idea let me know, there's many ways an idea could go but I'm just trying to bring my thought's to the table as I've said. Going along with the idea shops I'd like to see what the shops are selling laid out around the character, perhaps on a mat or carpet. Just like those old third-world markets you see in the movies. I don't think this would cause lag, people seem to load hundereds of people just fine so I don't see this to be an issue. If there is thou maybe the market could have more branches that are inclosed from another. Now everyones said it before MORE character customization! How hard can it be to come up with a few more hairstyles! The new head-gear they are adding in C4 is a step in the right Direction but there is still not enough. Also more Emotes would be great. I'd like to see a toggle emote for "at ease" or " casual" something like people crossing their arms or putting a hand on their waist. Pointing, shocked/suprised, afraid, funny, shake fist or whatever! There's just so many more we could have! I'd like to see the weapon put away thing happen as well. I'd kill to have my Duals crossed on my back as I ran about in towns!
Well then I'm gunna stop here. ( eyes startin to hurt lol )
I think some of these ideas would be great, but others may think different. That's how it is, if you see a problem with one of my ideas or anything you'd like to add lemme know!
Ok, I'll read more later, but so far I've gotten through 1.
I agree that alot of the buildings seem to go to waste, but as far as animlas running away when attacked how can you forget the elpy?? :)
The suggestion about mobs fighting each other is a pretty cool one. I used to play DAoC and there were various mobs that didn't like each other and would fight. On more than one quest the best way to complete it would be to get your target to be ambushed by some wolves or something and then swoop in for the last hit. It certainly did makes things feel more alive and vibrant.
I will read more later, but I just woke up and am still feeling cranky.
I was just picturing the mob against mob war and I just couldn't stop laughing at the posibility to train a mob. I would be a cool way to get a powerfull mob a little more easily.
I'm with you on the minigame part. Not with the wild animals that run when they see you because it would cause a lot of lag. But the idea of the marketplace is a really good one. And the raids too, as long as they don't get in town, mainly because there would be a lot of people (like some people we know from my server ¬¬) that would use that on their advantage to cause trouble for the rest of the players, something I don't like a bit.
A number of these things are things players can do. Clans I have been in have had meetings, hunts, pet hunts, games of tag, cookie selling campaigns....lots of stuff. I'm still trying to organize a dance, my lil dwarf girl has a dress in her wh for it, if she can find a date.
number 1: i like the fauna idea. just one thing i thinku might have neglected, ol mahums and orc barracks.
orc mobs outside of a barrack do occasionally run in to get aid. now granted it isnt a deer or elk that takes little effort to kill or was just there for the scenery, but nevertheless it does exist already in a small form. and we need more. /signed.
2: you werent around when "The Great Evil Approaches" happened back in middle of c1? it was a type of prelude to C2 and the introduction of quite a few things including the background to the Catacombs and necropolises. there was a hoarde of undead mobs that attcked starter villages through to Giran itself. and drops galore. that was a heck of a time to be a good tank in a good clan, you could really have fun. it wasnt much but it happened for like 2 weeks straight. then i think it got a little cumbersome. players moved to Oren and Aden where there werent so many atacks as frequent. not to mention the Gludio that ceased to be. /signed.
I would like weather changes, even if it is just random rainfall once in awhile that has no real game effect. A world that is always sunny doesn't feel right.
I wholeheartedly agree with this post! Definitely a collection of good ideas that many players over the months and years have suggested before. But nicely summed up! They should definitely put most of these ideas in the game.
While some of these ideas are pretty good, alot of them I don't think would work. Sure it may be nice to see a deer jumping away, but in reality, are there deer in Aden??? If you want to see wildlife, go to starter towns and watch the wolves and foxes run around for a while. Personally I don't think many people ever do go back just to see a fox or wolf, and am sure while semi cool would get old really fast, expecially when you are already in areas where mobs take a bit of time to load into system, I would hate to die due to aggro'ing a bunch of mobs I didn't see so I could watch a deer jump past my corpse.
As far as mobs randomly attacking towns/castles. They do occasionally during events. As far as having them actually go into towns and start killing every PC in site. There would be such an outcry if they implemented this. A bunch of hi lvl healers could wipe out a town by healing these mobs, and drops would be eerywhere. Getting rid of the NPC shops, and not having another way to sell your equipment, except via NPC would really mess the economy up. Heck the people training Imperial GK's into towns and having them teleport NPC shops outside town is causing enough of an outcry. As far as them attacking a castle, this wouldn't really be that realistic at all. It would mean requiring castle holding clans having a variety of people on watch of castle at all times. Maybe if they took the out of rotation weekend where there is no seige, and made a 2-3 hour window where mobs may attack your castle, sure, but not at any random time. Might be nice to see a couple hundred orcs and ol mahums show up to a seige, but there would be an outcry either from the attackers, as they would be weakened so much from the mobs that they wouldn't have much chance to take the castle, or if the mobs went straight to the castle, the castle owners would be so tied up that they couldn't defend their castle.

I don't believe I said that monsters attacked during normal sieges did I?
No, but read post above, if mobs could attack castles at any time, either the clan holding the castle would have to post a few of their people as sentries, on watch incase of an attack, which really isn't something realistic, as you can't demand people be playing 24 hours a day, or the mobs would have to be set so they do absolutley nothing, in which case the question would be why?
First off this isn't mobs banging on castle walls a few times a day. I also stated that they wouldn't be very powerful mobs. From what I can tell your just lazy and "don't wanna deal with it." If you think it's unfair to have mobs attacking a castle suddenly then by all means have an announcment then a time period before the attack happens. If you think everyone has to be on 24/7 to fight it off then your thinking worst case senerio. My idea was not to make it a challenge but to add excitment. Your opinion is your own but I believe this idea can be done.
Instead of people shooting down ideas and flaming them they should be discussing changes that could make things work. Everyone whines about the lack of content but no one ever agress with anyone else.

Amen.
but they cant really help it if they are 13yo little kids.
just ignore them they go away sooner or later.
as for the ideas, man you got some good ones.
just as for most of the ideas people post, they could use a little bit of polishing, but thats about it. sad thing is NC softs devs. will never read this, forum or your suggestions, i posted one recently just for the hell of it. but even the simplest of things you have post will go unread and un thought about.
this section of the forum is kinda a false hope section.
It wasn't meant as a flame. I am just trying to see where you are going with this idea.
If it was something funny like a bunch of Elpies declaring the castle to be their own, and having to wipe them out, sure would be funny. However, if a person gets into trouble, SOE's to castle and then gets ambushed by 30 Doom Knights, well I don't think many would like that idea.
Not shooting your idea down, just trying to figure out exactly what the idea is.
Ah well ok no harm done, I'm not going to explain how it'll all work here and now because I don't know sadly! I just think that something along the line of the idea would be great!

correct, instead of people saying it wont work for this or that reason it would help them explain how they think that it could work, constructive critism goes a lot farther than saying , umm your idea wont work.
what people could do is say, this is why it wont work, BUT
heres what you could add that would get it to work.
when you work in a team at your job, you cant shoot down peoples ideas this quick you help them build appon them or strengthen the idea.

A similar idea I heard a while back. Whenever a castle seige comes up but no attackers are scheduled, the original NPC owners should show back up and try to take it. That way there's a seige every week, plus if the NPCs win...that would be neat once in a while.
Or even just have organized NPC clans/alliances that can randomly sign up to seige and operate just like a PC clan/ally would in a seige. If they win a castle it just reverts to NPC control.

now this thread is movin, hell yea, thats a **** good idea, i would like to see that.
Lots of good ideas, the one i like the most is the npcs attacking the castle. I think when a clan has held a castle for a fixed period of time, the npc's should attack.
When, especially in lower levels, i was doing quests the npc's in town always talked about the war with the oel mahums and orcs and stuff, but all this is [censored]! There is no war!
If the orc's and other races of monsters attacked the castles, the war would become a reality and add more fun to the game.
