Its been about a year since I last played Lineage 2. I really did like the Artwork and the Crafting was one of the best systems that I have seen in a game yet. I gave it up do to certain mechanics and individuals on the servers that I thought were literally killing the game. Well, after a year I thought I would check back in to see how the world had progressed and see what changes befell. So I renew my lvl 45 dwarf crafter account and I log in last night. And I find....nothing. I ran around hunters village and where there used to be tons of mobs there was only space... and from the boards it seems like the same things are happening with the farmers/bots. So my question is, Is it even worth it to try and play again or am I going to get just as frustrated as I did before? Are there any good groups of people who just want to play the game for the game and not for farming adena? Are the castles controlling the mob spawn rates these days and are they owned by legions of farmers? Just trying to find out whats going on and determine whether its worth giving a try again. Any honest feedback would be appreciated.
Hey welcome back to L2, I came back after 6 months absent and a lot has changed since C2. Most notably the number of mobs. There aren't as many mobs in one area as it use to be, but spawn rate helps. I noticed some farmers and bots, but overall pretty mild. I don't know about everyone else but I enjoy playing it now, especially during my free time in college.
Mobs have been moved around a lot, so the area's you used to go to might not be there now. They did reduce the amount of mobs in some places but have also increased the spawn rate. C3 is the chronicle of the small partys and solo'ers. Keep looking im sure you will find a new home in no time.
Kind of hard to say if your going to give up again. The people you didn't like, What didn't you like about them? And what mechanics did you not like. Play wise the game hasn't changed much.
There are lots of new players to the game. You will see clans and alliances pop'ing up everywhere. I'm sure one of them will fit your idea of the ideal clan. Just hunt around.
Castles do not control spawn rates. It was a rumored feature that never made it to the game. And farmers have never controlled a castle on Devianne server.
If you are going to give it a honest shot. Find a group of people to hang out with. Those that play the times you do, the style that you play, and have things in common with. Soon the game is just a distraction and the logging in part is to hang out with some long distance friends and catch up :)
Actually I am pleasantly surprised. So far things have been great. As far as the mechanics, there used to be ALOT of people on and there were several instances where you were almost waiting in line for mobs to kill. I have noticed atleast in my ranges that isn't so anymore. But also in the guild I was in that there was quite abit of competition for hunting locations and also for boss raids. There was more than one instance where two or three guilds were racing to mobs as soon as the server spawned them. Don't get me wrong I am a former EQ junkie and I played on a PVP server, so I absolutely love pvp. But it just got very messy very quickly. Again, maybe its because my highest char right now is only lvl 46 but I don't see the crowding issues that I used to. Thanks for the feedback!
Its pretty open in the lower end for hunting mobs and all that. Now with C4 coming out and the new areas opening up it will get even better for grinding. Unless you happen to be 1 of the high lvl people heading to the new areas.
I have noticed over the last couple weeks that the farmers have consentrated in certain areas for the drops. Like around Dev Castle. Use to be 1 maybe 2 farmers parties killing mobs there. But last couple weeks it has been over run. I counted 8 parties all on auto follow/heal/buff/sit/repeat killing mobs for SOV blades since it get acumen in C4.
welcome back to L2, good to have more people playing with us :P lots of places have been emptied as far as field hunting... most players group in the catacombs/necropolises recently, so if your looking for sardine-like hunting arrangements sign up for 7 signs hurrah, watch out for trainers particularly in lower end dungeons!
