Sooo I get done with my DA and im all excited and relieved the quest was a (censored) and then i here DA's suck! I was all bummed...i thought they were great PVPers and PVEers as well but all i here is allt hey can do is tank so forget about a weapon just concetrate on armour. Is there anyways i can balance this out and make mine a kick-*** toon or am i destined to re-roll? I've spent a lot on him...Need help or just sum sypmathy lol. thanks.

First, they do not suck. Palladins suck ( no offense to my Pally friends out there =D )
You are a Pvp Tank. Mostly tanking for now. But in C4 when pets get to use soulshots. Your Pvp edge will rise. Just take the time now to learn how to coordinate well with you pet. You should even go to the Private test server and practice a bit while you can. So it comes as second hand when C4 hits.
All Tank type classes need to focus on Gear and Weapons. Good gear for taking hits, and a good weapon for dishing them out the best that you can

Dark Avengers eat Destroyers for lunch. well... I do w or w/o Dark Panther.
I still need to learn to use DP properly lol, I've gone so long without it sometimes I forget to make it attack and it just sits there till it dissappears (and I don't notice till it says "no servitor available" lmao).
If you're all about PVP, Paladin is the way to go, PvE then you're fine with DA.

yes yes....paly are not for pvp..but paly are the truest form of tank besides the TK...
but ezekial...saireth made a good point.. in c4 all summons/pets will/can use ss/sps/bsps.... this makes those little buggers hit real hard... also i would recommend.. getting a bow for pvp.. but i guess thats my opinion

Spik3 just nerfed himself into being a PvE tank by taking all his STR away. Con and Dex are gear for PvE, but I think a different tatt setup for PvP would be in order.

a Pally with sacrifice provides more benefit in mass PvP than a DA with a panther EVER would. The only PvP situations where a DA > Pally is in 1v1 situations. Otherwise, Pallys ar better to have around, can save your life in a pinch and can save healers' mana too. a DA can do none of that except stay alive longer. In C4 with pet SS, perhaps the panther can do more damage, but a mage or archer targetting the thing will kill it before it gets to the target.

+4 WIT -4 INT,
+4 CON -4 STR,

DAs sure rock, what they mean by that it sucks is that you'll have trouble reaching your target, but in mass pvp that usually isn't a problem, and you can take quite a few hits. There is a high level DA in my clan, he rocks, and he is completely nuts! He will run right into a big group of enemies and survive for a long time throw stuns around and actually do some damage. One time he ran from Pythan pit all the way from the traders RED with 32 PK's and red with 5-6 enemies on his *** popping pots and survive! Very funny!
So now I'm confused! (lol) I'm only a mid-20 lvl knight and was thinking paladin and gladiator (based on what I could read). I know it's a long way off for me--but these comments say "pallys suck"---"no, DA's suck"--"no, DA's don't suck"--"no pally rule".........jeeeesh!
I like pve best. Having been pk'd about 10 times while grinding--I'd like to not only survive sniping, I'd like to be able to defend myself. That being said--the quests and accomplishing things and having a goal is what I like best about the game so far (I realize from comments of others that partying is still in front of me in lvl's 30-50).
Straight question (for those who play human fighters, plz): if a player really likes pve (but wants to survive a pk once in awhile), is the palladin route the way to go or not? Once u get there--would u focus on DA or glad if you wanted pve?
If you want a Gladiator, reroll. Knights can only become Paladin or Dark Avenger, either one is fine for surviving a pk.
The Paladin is on the defensive side while the Dark Avenger is more offensive.

"worried" isn't the right word! Even at my lvl I GET the pvp aspect of the game--I've been killed enough that it's not that big of a deal anymore! I want to play the game my way--I like pve. I would like to choose the path that gets that done best. Recognizing pking occurs--I'm curious if the paladin is able to hold his own.
Hey--we went through a period in newbie Island a couple weeks back where marauding couples of higher lvl mystics pk'd EVERYBODY (me 3 times in one day!). I'm looking forward to a lvl and a time when I can at least deal back some pain in those situations!!!! (lmao).

I say if you like party style go paladin, if youre lone fighter choose Dark Avenger - that was always it ! And both of them can really defend themselves from anyone except each other and necro LOL !
P.S. About that DYE +4MEN my mistake bad expierence from free shards then :(
Paladin gets Aegis Stance which means when you are attacked by multiple mobs at once you can defend well against all of them not just the one in front of you, the slight downside is the slightly lower shield rate. This was very nice in AOE in places like AB in C3.
In C4 you could have a similar role in pole parties but not so much mage AOE due to the AOE nerfs.
Reality is though paladins do suit grouping more than DA's, DA's are faster to solo, paladins get the sacrifice skill which makes them useful crisis healers, I'm still happy with the choice of paladin over DA.
Just to prove what everyone has been saying and it really proved it to myself, last night I beat a lvl 53 destroyer with my lvl 44 DA w/o panther he had doom set and Aoba+3 and i had FP and +10SLS. The fight ended, me with 1k of hp left and him laying on the ground...of course a big past of it was the fact that orc's have no magic def. soooo my hp drian was awesome. but anyways yes i agree with everyone. DA kicks ***! Not every ***, but they can hold there own! :)
not to burst your bubble, but if you were killing the orc with life drain, he must have had no magic on, a destroyer should work a 44 c grade tank w/o his best PvP weapon... IMO it should have been hands down the orc...
Well i dunno if he did or not but considering my life drain only did 400dmg ima guess heprolly didnt. he dropped a ring but i think it was top c-grade. not b so i dunno...
Tank classes and Melee are for people who truly enjoy the style imo. L2 is totally geared towards ranged DD'ers in both pve and pvp, sad but true. Some of the best XP groups are archer groups, casters tend to solo for their awesome XP and tanks tend to not get groups a lot when you reach the higher lvls, all the more sad when you invested that much time in your character.
Raid Bosses are about the only thing that strictly requires a real tank and well, the farmers tend to do them on the clock anyway so you might never get to tank one.
I dont want to discourage you, but you'll never be first in line for groups of anything as a tank, as long as you are aware, its definetely possible to play and advance in higher lvls if you have a good clan.
Maybe C4 will change this, I hope so. For all the support classes that nobody wants to play.
Its not a discouragement at all. I knew there wouldnt be much use for me in grps hence the reason i chose DA (one of best solo meeler in game) soo i guess the few times i get groups itll be fun but im used to soloing and i have a great clan (Brokenarrow) soo i mean when we have boss raids that'll be awesome.
