Ok, so apparently there is an incompatibility with C4 and the event items from Pumpkin event and Special Holiday trees. (I still have both, I kept pumpkin seeds around to pop one up when players come back and have missed the pumpkin event so they can get to see it too because it was pretty cool).
I can acccept that, but what about before C4 having a simple script go through everyones inventory/warehouses and replace special christmas trees and pumpkins with compensating gifts instead? While they may not be much I have a ton of special christmas trees which I was saving for leveling in certain confined places, but probably won't have time to use them now (also spent money on them).
Could replace them with other nice stackable items, or better yet, simply replace them with adena outright, like 50-100K for special christmas tree, 100K for small pumpkins and 500K for large pumpkins.
Please don't just screw over those who actually played the events :(

I agree, no adena. Maybe something that is already in the game. Squeeky shoes, a mask, a bless rez or blesses soe scroll or a special cat that you can trade the special event stuff in with before c4 arrives. Not something real special, just something out of the ordinary - like the pumpkins and trees were/are. Though I was gonna use my special trees in the cats/necros on Monday but . . . there are not any mobs in there.
I don't have any special trees, but I do have 4 ordinary ones, I keep for special occasions. I'll gladly take 4 Christmas Echo Crystals #7 instead (it looks like the music chrystals will stay in game).
No blessed scrolls either, please; I got 12 brez, and 25bsoe from dark lord.
Please, nothing that has huge adena value, xmas frees were ment to be fun not just oohh they got me... bye. Please no masks too everyone can afford and masks are ugly.. not stylish and not unique in any way.
i will be very happy when all of the christmas stuff is purged from the searver... but that's just me... as for pumpkins... there is no reason to have any of them....
As always, I appreciate everyone's feedback regarding events. Unfortunately, as mentioned before, there is an issue with the event items previously handed out during the Hit the Jackpot and Deck the Halls events that forces us to remove them before we launch Chronicle 4.
I hope you have enjoyed these items during the previous event period. There are currently no plans to replace these items with other items when they are removed next week. I can assure everyone that there is a full lineup of events scheduled for 2006, starting with the launch of Chronicle 4. I will also not rule out the possibility of pumpkins and trees reappearing in events sometime later in the year.
The event rewards other than the large/small pumpkin seeds and regular/special trees should not have any problems and there is no plan to remove them at this time.
Could you at least consider something, doesn't have to be overly much or anything but I know many who have actually gathered these things and kept them (its not like this is something we'd know back then, this is afaik the first time in L2 history actual usuable rewards/items are removed)
There's very little way (especially with the PTS and stratics) I can reach using up that many trees and pumpkins in one single week without wasting them, and hell some of them I paid money for. :(
Please consider it more closely, its shouldn't take long to do to replace with something.
i said a lot of things are rescriped gave animations as a example.
Graphics might have been change or the what they do is change could be a whole lot of changes that didnt fit what they were orginally intended for.

I think we all understand why they may have to be removed to go from C3 to C4. What doesn't make sense is why they can't replace them with the items that DO work in C4 (see KR event).

If they just remove them without some good compensation, its poor form on NCSofts part.
And remember whomever is against it simply because you don't really have any, next time something is removed it could be something you like alot, use and have many of.
Even an adena compensation would be nice if they can't figure something else stackable out.
Although I came in at the end of the Christmas tree event and don't really have anything to lose, it would be nice if there were some way to compensate people.
At this point, they should just stick with the plan. They gave 2+ weeks notice, plenty of time to pop your pumpkins and plant your trees. Or give em away so others could plant them is what I did with mine.
The pumpkins have obvious value (scrolls, pots, & crystals) that you can still recover. The trees are worth, what, maybe a regen? Aside from that, you can use them to trap people in the warehouse for a chuckle.
The compensation is we're getting that chrono darbhuka thingy. Ain't that a treat?
They've not "compensated" for any of the other items that lost their usefulness. "Because that's the way we've always done it" isn't a great logical rule, but why switch horses this far into the stream?

They haven't taken items away, except for the Olympiad medals, but they've removed the usefulness of items, regularly.
I don't get about the dice either, what on earth they changed there, maybe its because of the number generater and the servers going 64 Bit.
But you know, it would be nice if they'd at least replace them. I could spam them left and right, but then wouldn't have any use really, they need to be for specific parties and that was what they were gathered/bought for.

I still have a lot of world maps too. Managed to sell one to some cheating noob in DEV for a million. He happened to have quite a bit of adena. Hmmmm :p
I have officially used up all of my special Christmas tress as of last night. I was able to obtain a room for myself in a Catacomb and plant a tree. It helped I'm sure but with up to five 4x mobs beating on my toon at once I really am glad that I had my Orc Shaman in there instead of any of my other toons lol. Crowd crontrol and drains ftw - the tree helped too.
