Two days ago I discovered a D grade mate selling his gloves for 4.5mil. And then another dwarf selling one for 4mil.
What has happened here? A month ago the things cost only 450k to buy, and people would haggle desperately to reduce that price to 400k. Now I see prices as high as these on Gustin, yet no controversy. Is this a chain, or have I completely isolated myself from influences in the market because of inflation?
I also sold my Brig helmut on my alt after I took this shot, for 3mil. I was ignorant of Brig prices although I knew they were extremely expensive for top D, but I was surprised when 3 people recommended 3mil. I had expected 1.5-2.1mil. 2 Hours later I checked my shop and it was gone. The message that it had been bought by a player was also past the chat-memory limit, meaning that it had been bought a considerable amount of time before I re-checked my dwarf.
Edit: Just looked at the shot again and forgot to include my little conversation with Seja. I asked him how much he would sell his mithril gloves for :p ...he was astounded that I could possibly suggest that it was ever 450k.
Its that quest on AI, the treasure chest one. But its a low chance you'll get them in the end, the chests have never been too dependable for me >.<...
I'll replace "they" with anyone. I'll rephrase my question-- how is a new player coming in on C grade expected to get a set? Or are they not?
Buy/farm the mats and craft? I know there's a quest that gives elven mithril gloves. Although it's probably too high for them...
CAN give. The treasure quest can give you them, as well as several other things. However its unlikely, I did it about 10 times and the best I ever got was an ELS blade...
As for the OP yeah the price for those sort of things has become crazy, brig helm elven mithril gloves, knowledge gloves, plated leather boots.
Elven mith gloves haven't shown up in private stores for less than a million in forever. Well, at least last summer. Thank Uncle IGE and low drop rates on crucial crafting bits.
How do they expect a new player coming in on C grade to even afford top D? :p
******The reason for that price is most crafters are selling it for thoses that are making an alt and want to level fast no matter what the cost or rerolling to another class. so by that they are saying "either ebay or keep using none top or set armor, game wasnt design to be using top everything to level we dont care about new guys".
*******how would you know hes new to the game?.
Ya the problem is people with too much money and not enough time on their hands who are willing to spend a lot of money for their quick gear.
The other side of the problem is that the items don't lose value, so there is no problem with buying at a high price if you can afford it, since you will most likely be able to sell it for the same or even a higher price.
Simple solution, just skip top D grade... you will be fine with second best until level 40, after that you can get very cheap low C grade. Problem solved.
Actually I think the main reason is that because there's fewer people that level these days than there used to be, there's less supply of the key mats for EM Gloves, Brig Helm, Manti Boots etc (all the set completers). Hence crafting them becomes harder and the price goes up. Combined with the fact that most ppl who want the items are rerollers with enough cash to afford em, and can always resell em for the same amount.
Hint to new dwarfs: there's an absolute FORTUNE to be made crafting brig helms, manti boots and EM gloves...seriously they cost next to nothing to craft (maybe 100k) and can net you 2 or 3 mil profit per item.
For fun I was collecting mats for top D rare boots, assault and plate boots. These things spoil in Sea of Spores. I made a couple pairs of each, priced them at 300k each (easily 200k more than they are worth) and they sold within 5 mins. All of them, it's crazy.
I have been trying to make the set completer pieces but it's hard to get the main bits.
It also doesn't help that at least for C3, the best chance of getting EMG parts to drop is 1/208 and that's down on Pirate Island. The mob is level 40, so for top D at least your only option is to buy at level 30, unless you have some clan support that wants to go hunt like 1600 of these mobs and hope to get the 8 parts that you'll need to craft the item. Would be nice if there were a level 40 spoil mob for this item, which would give BHs something to do.
Anyway the prices are really wacked for some top D items, almost like Brig Helms used to be over 2 mill in C1.
I had heard manticore boot parts, elven mithril gloves and some other interesting things dropped under IT but I was there for at least an hour and didn't get one. And that's DROP, not even spoil if I remember right. I would have liked to get some of those items into the economy but game design apparently wants nothing to do with that.
on hinde its about 2,4M for elven mithril gloves, i bought 3 designs for 15k each and now i m sitting for 4 days to buy the rest, craft em and buy brigadine+SoR, its actualy quite good source of money for luckers like me :)
Yeah you know something is screwed when you can get C grade cheaper than D grade! The sad thing is, people sell for this high because people actually buy that crap!
For a mage, you might as well just stay in Devotional robes. Buy a goathead staff from Giran or something. For fighters just go mithril and use the shield for extra HP.
Lol. I'm amazed at those prices-- and I'm PMed monthly by friends or friends of friends who are in low D when still at 30 :p ...suppose its best to keep them at mid D grade :p

Completing a set really isn't that important, especially for lower grades. The base stats are a bigger factor, I'd take the Mithril Robes with or without the gloves over the Devotion set anyday.
Set-completing items are that expensive because they're hard-to-obtain reroll toys.
I agree-- I would still buy some D grade robes. 15% Casting speed isn't a bonus that's worth it if you die so much more from a lower pdef. Also less mana with a devo set...
I got 2 EMG's from the Treasure Chest quest, this was before they all shot up in price. Wish i hadn't let my friend borrow the extra pair im not using :(
Think i got 2 Sages Worn Gloves out of there too, but maybe just 1. Keep in mind that I did this quest like 50 times lol.
It is pretty bad that Main Mats for D grade are so hard to obtain. I used to farm to create Brig. Shields and Helmets. I would make like 8 shields in the time it would take me to get enough pieces for one helm.
well 4 mil seems to be normal price on Gustin.. i hate going for armor sets!! and if i do i hope some one in my clan got the expensive stuff to loan me, til the next grade i hope u guys got that in mind before selling u'r stuff that maybe one of u'r clanies got an alt how need's the gloves/ helmet ore what ever makes the set "a set" cos i see what u meen when u says the prices are to high (the way to got the price to fall is "dot buy")
at 40 you CAN wear C grade but its not like you have to. my main was in D till 48, then in low c, and i didnt have those overpriced pretty much useless set items. big helmet ? come on.. its crap that bonus will not cut down any downtime, and the game at this point is so easy you shouldnt need the small boost
Hehe ya, I only upgraded my main armor when I lvl from ng to B-grade, then I switched to BW heavy at 52. 1-20 Wooden set. 20-40 Brig armors, ng helmet, ng gloves, ng boots. 40-52 comp armor, same ng helmet, gloves and boots. And I poled the whole way from 20 to 52 :) Low lvl set bonuses aint that great, I would never pay that much for any of the top D set items. Altho, Brig helm is like 1,2mil and EMG was around 800k on Teon last I checked >.>
