I just wonder who's bright idea this was? If you fail 2 attempts at name creation you get disconnected from the server. Someone give those people some light bulbs because theirs are blown out. Anyway, a friend wanting to try the game QUIT after not being able to make a name afte 20 connections to the server and getting disconnected 20 times after trying 40 different names. I tried it also, yuck. Seriously, after being online two years most of the good names would already be taken. Please change this to at least give more than just 2 tries. When he said he gave up, I just lolled because he hasn't even started yet. I'm sure he'll try again later but I just hope it's before his 14 day trial ends.
I found this out a few weeks ago when i went to a friends house to get on my account(my gaming comp is broken) I was goign to make a new alt healer and i failed two names and it booted me i tried this 3 times jsut to see if his comp sucked but nope its L2 and it is a big pain for new players.
actually you only need to fail once, and you get disconnected - even if you fail one, and click previous, you get dc. it's very annoying. and i don't think it's a feature :)

Good thing he didn't actually get in game and try to kill monsters.
The reason it might make new players stop right in their tracks is cause they get the impression "OMG if this company has so ridiculous bugs/"features" in their client before even getting INTO the game, what will wait for me when I finally play it ?
It does the same for me, sooooo very annoying when you're trying to make actual character names. (of course, powerplayers aren't really affected by it, since they're mostly making gji5j38u1jr farmer characters anyway)
If the first name you choose is taken, just as Champa stated it will disconnect you no matter what. It will look as if you can create a character, choose a new name and everything but you can't.
Just a couple weeks ago my daughter bugged me about creating a new dwarf for her. She was pretty picky about getting just the right look for her (she's 6 years old and is into pink and princesses). After 10 minutes of looking at all the options multiple times and finally choosing a set, we put in the name and walla! The name is already being used and I get taken back to the Character Selection screen. Have to start all over again. I wasn't disconnected, but how hard would it be to just tell me to choose a new name without forcing me to redo all that?
