Am very happy with Return 2. Geezes, it feels almost like blessed scroll of escape. Had a few cases when lag glitches or poor decisions threatened to kill Mana and meself, but I found I was able to survive by just running away and casting return 2. No more BSOE scrolls for me. :D
What I would like to see is a prophet exclusive haste 3. :D
Faster heal, or stronger heals. (But not both)
And of course - wolf skills. ;)
Anyway, looking forward to C4 and pet shots. Download yer PTS client today if ye wanna avoid the lines. :D
They cost a lot of money in food, gear and in c4 with soulshots.
They die fast, they have to do all the damage by themselves to level. Most people can't stand the little beasts as they are totally a waste of time and resources.
Thats why I have the utmost respect for the likes of kiranya who manage to make it work in a fashion and level their pets up.
The c4 pets though will be much more usable. Although more for melee classes then for the SE.
I'm FAR FAR from a wolf expert, but they certainly don't cost alot of adena for food. My little level 15 toons can afford all the food the buggers want with no problem. The main trouble I've found with wolves is the odd aggro habbits of mobs towards them. Mobs love to munch on wolves period.
On what woodsman said - wolves do not help ye level, unless they're 5 or more levels over yerself.
And yes - they're big money pits for those who don't know how to work with them. For those who do - they actually help make money. Ye gotta kill more mobs per level (which means more spoils/crops/materials/raw adena drops per level), and ye get to save money on shots.
Once ye get yer wolf past 30 - their ability to survive gets better, and the damage they deal becomes more pronounced. However, by then - most people would have already given up on them.
Take a stroll on the level 30 wolf thread in the screenshot section. Ye'd noticed that once any pet owner hits this critical number - wolves are now their permanent hunting partners on either their mains, or their farming alts.
In C4 - pets will get soul shots, and now that they will match yer damage output - I forsee people starting wolves in C4 for their farming alts at least.
Ugh... and here I am hoping there was a fun alternative to duoing with another one of your characters ( despite what everyone says... including my brother and his friends... using two clients on the same pc is hard... even in windowed mode ).
If they don't share exp in a fixed ratio... I don't see how it will work out for me.
I personally believe what toon you have will also have a huge bearing upon whether a wolf helps of not. I've finally got Paegan about 50% to lvl 29. Food costs very little (especially as compared to a hatchling), and I have only invested in a weapon (Crystalised Cainine - not top, but close).
Now, the fact that my main is a pally with 27 lvls of Aggro and 15 lvls of hate aura really makes a BIG difference. I can sit there and take a pounding without having to worry about the wolfie. His 130 extra p.atk also comes in very handy when I'm doing my own leveling in say, EV. Of course, I always have to take precautions, but I think the whole activity has been very much worth it.
And I say a very big thanks to Kiranya for giving me the gumption to go out and do this (all your posts made me a convert!). I've enjoyed having my wolf now, and would't have it any other way!
Inch.
EDIT: Oh, and sorry Kiranya, congratz on hitting 56 :D
We frequently get posts in the forums about people feeling poor/hard time making adena. There is something to be said for leveling slower and richer, and a wolf works for that.
The food costs increase as the wolf levels, but never amounts to a whole lot. And unlike de-leveling, the exp your wolf takes isn't wasted. But it can get hard to find hunting locations where the mobs don't use stuns or area special-attacks.

Agree 100%. That does get to be a tough one. I really have to pick and choose my hunting style/location if Paegan comes out to play. Small price to pay though. Helps to mix it up a bit, eh :)
I mean, it only costs some 5m to fully outfit a wolf... while a second account costs $15 a month, and millions of adena to outfit them. :D
My brother's old SE has been in devo set and gladius for over a year... and it works out just fine XD.
I used it to pl me for a while... but then it got redundant when my spells started failing..... so now I have to either convince him to reroll and duo with me, or make another character to duo with myself. Companions are too rare pre 40, so I need a consistant partner. I was just hoping a wolf would have been it.
I've told this story before but we used to have this not-so-bright support tech. She sent an email to our email administrator asking him if email was broken. He sent her back an email saying "yes, it was". She replied saying "okay, please email me back when it's working again".

It hasn't been so bad for me...when game guard or odd errors aren't crashing one or both clients that is. What I do is have my main character in a larger window mode, and the buffer/secondary character on smaller windowed mode. I put the smaller window in the top corner..just a bit above the other window...click for rebuffs/heals otherwise I leave em on follow. Works decent for me, but as soon as I can start working again probably get a second PC...seems tons easier that way :P
Maline: I am still a lowbie (and an idiot) to some people. So no worries. ;) Stroll on the L2Blah boards - there isn't a single thread I post in where someone doesn't call me a ******. ;) Fortunately, the number of cool people outnumber the dingleberries - and the mods are pretty cool too. ;)
As for yerself DM - I say only 5m because that's the cost of the lowest C grade weapon. Me wolf is hitting as hard as top C right now, and will hit with B grade damage in C4. That's a **** cheap investment if ye ask me. ;) And anyone who kills their wolves so much that they spend like 10m on rez scrolls / potions / food -- then perhaps pet raising is out of the question. ;)
Champa: Yes - gold wyverns are a fantastic source of income. The holy weapon buff I have gives me bonuses against them too. Dragon Valley is a fantastic place to go if ye can't get a true healer to go with ye into the catacombs to manor. (If ye can't manor... look for coins! :D )
Bhodosativa: Is that yer pic? Just curious. :D
EllieBelly: I've linked me site to yer own btw. Just occured to me that ye had one too. :D
Wyzeguy:

I've said something like this for ages now... but now I have a simple sentance to sum up what I used to say in paragraphs. :D
Incheiri: I'm flattered I played a role in convincing ye to raise a wolf. :D I'm only saddened by the fact ye aren't on Seighardt when we get the "pet clan" started up. :D

it could happen . for example user can sent to internal(intranet) user but can't sent to external(internet) user.
so, your tech support emailed to the mail-admin . since both are internal(intranet) user. the mails can go through.
