I can assure you, its no joke. When I played L2, I always dualboxed new characters with a high level Shillien Elder, so this is rough for me.
And from playing the other white meat, I think I might have become spoiled by the quests.
My only hope is the new account bonuses, I got my free soulshots, but have been saving them until that attack DOES come.
I've clicked about 2k adena in those 6 levels which in my opinion isn't too shabby. And of course the weapon tradeup will be my saving grace, until level 25 of course, when it ends.
Yeah, you haven't started getting the free noobie buffs yet either. Those will help ALOT!!
They've made the game way way easier to start than it was back in the day. Make sure you take advantage of those quests, the buffs, and all the free SS!
Yeah, and even if you could do it, I don't think you'd want too, because your gear would suck *** when you got into your 20's. It's better to slow the xp down a bit and make some cash if you aren't going to twink yourself or get some money from a friend.
you get something liek 2 or 3k sps or ss from the guard dude in ti after killing a few orcs or werewolves.(as logn as you get the quest first). hence the lack of need for money, since you get all the ss/sps you'll need to spam from 1-20. and leftovers too.
try it sometime. as long as you use the best mobs for hunting for your level, it's super fast and super easy.
that being said, no matter how frugal you are, i doubt you'll be in decent d grade until about 25.
I tend to agree with the Duke, just because you CAN get to level 20 quickly, doesn't necessarily mean you should. The extra time spend grinding is all money for gear, not wasted on SS, after the 1 - 20 NG SS wear out.
I will never make a Shillien Oracle again, healing for a living was the worst.
Nah, I'm going with the C2 FOTM, Treasure Hunter, hehe. I know the special never land, and a Hawkeye would be easier to level, but I've never levelled an archer without shots, so I'm not going that route.

I was thinking of taking advantage of the full XP from greens. thats why I'm still on level 1 imps at level 6, hehe. I think they are actually still green to me

Well i started to play this game in may 2005. Was butt naked, didn't know anyone... I just picked this server because it had the lowest ping... 137 if i recall. I wanna say that i got my top NG staff by myself... then i got some help from a few friends that i made here... but only for d grades... from C and up i worked myself... so it's possible.

I have to disagree man.
Example (made up numbers):
You kill 100 mobs in 3 hours to gain 200exp and 300 adena without SS.
Then you kill the same 100 mobs in 2 hours to gain the same 200 exp and 300 adena with SS.
You will not lose adena using free SS. Now paying for SS is another story. You do not get any more or less adena for taking more time to gain exp.
There are a few quests at the lower levels that give worth while rewards. Just be sure to hit those while you can.
Stop crying like a baby, when i started playing I did nt knew anything about the game. I did nt even know how to use ss to lev 10, did nt try newbie buffs at all and did nt use weapons upgrade.
Also if you level a mage, it's really cheap in gear, you don't need top weapons to deal decent damage.
So: go go exp, insteag of crying on the board how poor you are :p

This is about a clean account, and to see whether the game is enjoyable when played as they meant it to be played. Instead of what I generally do, twinking out my character.
I've decided if I can't make it work on 15 dollars a month, its simply not something I want to invest time in. So I started fresh and shiny.
At the lower levels like you are now is one of those times you can actually make alot of extra money by spamming SS.
You do what you said.. hunt greens.. the lowest level one's you can find, and spam that free SS. You can maximize the number you kill per hour, which maximizes your gold intake per hour. It's worth noting that a top NG weapon spamming free NG SS will actually get you pretty far into your 20's.
If the Oren and Gludio manors are up, you can take advantage of the low level seeds too.. some of them make crazy cash.
Don't forget that you can use the traders to trade up weapons and armor at a pretty decent rate!

Nothing wrong with that man. The game has changed so much between lvl 1 and 30 from when most of us did it that it's not anything like what we originally played!
on my first toon, i only used ss in "emergencies" or like "specials"... wasn't until 25ish i discovered i could spam ss, and after a short time i realized it was most efficent way to exp. i did borrow some adena from a friend to get started in d grade, buying low d grade weapon and set cost me about a million adena. later thanks to the catacombs and the prodcuts avilable through the priest and the general ignorance of his wares, i was able to make a 20 fold profit.
as far as fun goes.. i think there's an expectation that alot of it is going to be boring.
on that note, the first 6 months of playing cs, and getting owned 30 seconds in to ever round and spending the next minute and a half in teh spectator lounge wasn't exactly fun either... but definitely worth the time in the end.
ofc, that game doesn't come with a monthly fee either.

I honestly don't think so, I played from 1 - 6 on TI, just grinding those imps, I honestly thought I might cry.
Let me just say it's vastly easier now than it was in C1/2
First: Newbie Buffs.
Only good until you reach L24. Once you hit 24 there is no return. You will never get the newbie buffs again.
Second: Free Shots
Use em or conserve em, they are free...just take into account how long you plan to abuse the Free newbie buffs. Also know that you can 'automate' shots now instead of clicking the shot button a billion times over if your going to spam em.
Third: Newbie Exchange.
Like buffs this disappears when you hit L24. Abuse the hell out of it before then. Upgrade your NG equipment (ALL OF IT) and even go so far as to buy and upgrade one set of each if you want to maximise your farming alts early on. (Cheaper than paying taxes, and you are sure to get some mid-level drops of each type in NG, especially if you delevel a few times.)
Fourth: The Manor.
Hopefully it's not maxxed out (watch the buybacks!) or overloaded too much, and you can make good money off it.
Fifth: Plan on getting enough cash for your C grade stuff by the time you reach L40. Levels go pretty fast now, and B grade comes too fast to in comparison. Also D/C grade is price spiking compared to B grade on most servers right now, due to so many people being in the A/B range and comparatively fewer in D/C range. (More so in terms of key part drops than actual levels.) I'd suggest getting your D grade with the main/newbie buffs and level a farming/grinding alt(s) to pay for your C grade to break up any monotony and boredom. Pass on the expensive set completers if money is tight.
In all ways you can make a ton of cash Between L15 and L30 compared to Pre-C3 L2. (I strongly suggest not going below L15 as the drops below that level really are not worth the time. Plus you lose skills if you drop more than 10 levels below the skill level. In particular I have found L20-L30 a good grind for D grade if you want money or to farm.)
seriously even if you don't upgrade weapons at all until d grade, you won't run out of ngss/sps that you get free from teh quest.
ya.. ones gustin was down i made a elven wiz on kain, he is lvl 25 now and i still got a lot of neewbie sps left.. just use then and do some quest, when u run out u wil be lvl 20+ :)
