Ok dumb question I'm sure. I would like to convert my Public Test Files to the "regular game".
The read me text indicates that I should copy the public test client to my hard drive (which is confusing becuase it is already on my hard drive. I assume that means make another copy in another folder).
Do I just copy the program of the public test folder or ALL the files that are in that folder?
Sorry for the questions but I find myself lost in "terminology".
edit: Ok.. I think I answered my own question: "everything".
You have to copy the whole folder that contains the PTS-Client Unless you want to get rid of the PTS at the same time, then you can just overwrite the linegae2.exe in the PTS-folder, but i think a copy would be wiser decision in case you make a mistake..

Does anyone have any idea how much you need to patch for the conversion between PTS to Live? I have started it now and it looks like its downloading everything again :(
PS: Yes, I am running it from my PTS folder.
Same here-if i just start up the game it says all files are checked and goes till the server selection(this is AFTER i apply the new Lineage2.exe) where i find only barts(z) and upon clicking it disconnects me.
When i run full check however it patches to no end :(
I copied the pts to a new folder. Replaced the pts application with the patcher and now I'm just patching away as if I never did any of this to make it quicker.
Ok, so it looks like if you do it now, I will repatch your C4 PTS to C3 live.
I just compared a few of the files and they are the same as my live C3.
Same here. It changed the Lineagenpc.uks from about 64K to the 69K it is on the C3. I guess the update server for Live doesnt have the C4 information yet.
When i start the C3 client, it doesnt download anything.
I am stopping the update for now, until the C4 content is on the Live-Updater.

Wow. I'm very impressed! Putting it on FilePlanet was a VERY smart move! They have enough servers and enough bandwidth to seriously help out in the distribution department. This Chronicle should be much smoother than the last couple.
Why is it taking so long then? It is taking just as long as it did to d/l the pts. I realize lots of people are trying to also, but we have the files already. It is re-d/l'ing everything over again which is wrong.
Can anyone, like maybe NCsoft, please explain what is going on with this? I didnt the C4 pts -> C4 Live conversion. It has been d/l'ing stuff for over 2 hours now and the progress is at 25%.

I think the confusion is that they say "c4 is available for download" and tell where to download the FULL c4 client and where to download the pts->live conversion. but the LIVE servers are still C3, so if you actually USE the instructions to convert pts->live right now, you will get patched back to C3. Many probably thought that even though the live servers are C3 still, you could already patch to C4 by following the instructions.
So:
- you can download the full C4 client right now
- you cannot use the pts->live conversion to create a C4 client for the live servers yet
At least they appear to have pulled the conversion file - I downloaded it (through a link on the homepage, because I wouldn't go poking around on the PTS), but cancelled patching.
Still, sheesh.
I'm also a bit confused about the times. :( Stupid time zones.
Because the C4 Conversion didnt seem to work right last night, i just decided to download the full C4 client fresh while i was sleeping, but this morning it would crash my system when i tried to run the setup.exe file to uncompress and install the full new version of L2. Think having my old L2 version on the same hard drive is the problem?
Well I just updated from C4 PTS -> C4 and it went very quickly. I then redid it as a full check and that took less than 10 minutes and worked fine also.
I cant get past the login screen now but thats understandable.
Now to sleep for 6 hours until the servers are back up.
So far the C4 PTS -> C4 Live method seems to work fine :)
The servers are NOT C4 yet!!! Your patching back to C3, this was already talked about. Didn't you get the memo?
for crying out loud! why did NCSoft have the directions to tell us to run a full check? It took 3 days to download C 4 and now because of following the directions I'm patching my C4 to C3! Just as others have done appearently. So, I hope I'm not going to waste another 3 days trying to get C4 back to where it was before I followed NCSoft's directions; if so, I'm not going to baby sit the conenction this time (18 hours at the computer babysitting C4 PTS).
Does anyone know if NCSoft disconnected all downloads going on before their maintaince started? if so that's good - if not and I have to download C4 again becuase I've patched to C3 I'ma call NCSoft on the telephone tonight while I babysit the C4 download again.
I am totally confused right now. I want to use pts to live conversion kit but from what I read here and what the reame text files say. The one you download from the official ncsoft download site will patch my c4 to c3.
So where can I get the certified NCSoft patch (I am sorry but I am not going to run a non official lineageII.exe file. I want to be 100% sure it is the correct one and not on full with all kinda hacking tools)

This is another file then the one I following the official like on the website I tried earlier.

Sorry, but the client worked fine for me, most be a problem with your computer or your internet connection.
It's sounding like a 50/50 shot because half of the people are having zip file corruptions and the other half is not. So, I'm not convinced it's my computer however there may be in issue with some packets getting jumbled due to a crap server in the chain. I do have a 6meg Broadband connection and it did seem to download rather quickly maybe 1.5 hours.
I tried to connect to the game, and while something weird happened. I had to restart pc and then when i got it back up. the convertion update started again but i have not loost any files. What happenned did we just downloaded files to get back to c3 to then convert to c4 live?
my question is: can i just start the game as i usually do, and update the new C4 files from there, or is it necessary to download full C4 client from web-site and install it?
I spent at least 2 hours downloading and it ended up being corrupt.
Make sure you are using the latest WinZip (version 10), and don't use WinRar. I got a corrupt file when I used WinRar but it was fine when I used the latest WinZip.

I got the PTS thing going right now at home, but now im back at work. Making my sister watch it for me lol

You can start the game and patch normally as well -- you don't have to use an installer from the web site.
ok i am doing this, but the connection keeps falling down tho: i make half bar's updated files and then i receive the message "connection to the server has been terminated".
The conversion for PTS went very quick. The kit is less than 1Mb, and to patch it took a few minutes.
I'm on lame-o verizon dsl, too.
But be sure you're not downloading the PTS client if you already have it. The first link I clicked was the big thing, not the <400k zip file.
good to hear ^^ unfortunately, I had tried to update last night and early this morning. So, when I restarted the update from C4 PTS to C4 at lunch time I had to leave as it started to update the animations/monsters file (!bah).
hope that I can play tonight instead of download and serf the web and say stuff on the boards that don't mean crap :p (bah, bah, bah) lol
