I bought the CDs and have installed them on my computer. when launching the update screen the file downloads started... and the overall progress bar is like not showing any progress at all and it's been half hour. Was I ignorant to think that the CD install would be the cleanest way to get onto L2 after conversion? Does it have to update all the files again? Or did I do it wrong?
Yes why is this happinig. Your advertisement said to avoid downloading the client again . I bought the disc for this reason also and had a 5 hour DL after last night. Today when I start up Im in the DL mode again. Is something wrong.
Nowthing is wrong, unless they are selling scions of destiny discs (which i havent seen) you are installing to just the prelude, now that we have 1-4 chronicles on top of that it will take hours to auto update, you can download the client then the scions download (i think) but that is quite a few gigs.
FOr me to do the update (i played yesterday) it took about 1.5 hours or so ( i went for a walk to kill time so i dont know exactly)
If you got the C4 disks, then you have the core files for the update. However, any last minute changes made prior to release will have to be patched, so you will have to go through that process.
I bought the disks at the plaync site (https://store.plaync.com/product.php?productid=16161&cat=249&page=1) and got them in 3 days. I uninstalled my old version, installed the old version and patched the changes. I also ran a file check just to make sure. The whole process took approx. one hour from start to finish. I have a cable modem 756k connection, don't know if that makes any difference.
I'm now in the game and playing. You've probably just hit a heavy use period for the update server that patches the files. Good luck! :)
