52k for one summon of my not-even-top level panther...bull. 2 C crystals to summon, 16 more over the period of the summoning. Great for PVP, worthless for XP. Even not using shots (mine or pet) there's no way I could break even xping with him. Before, it was tight, but possible. Now? Yeah. I don't even *gross* 150k an hour xping. Anywhere.
Traditional summoners used to pay 9/5/5/5/5 before. I'm certain they're in the same boat, costs wise.
It wouldn't have been that difficult to bring the prices in line with what they were before. Even cutting the price in half would still cost more than it did before.
Well, thanks for clarifying what summons are for: PVP only. I understand now.
OOPS!
Now, summoning takes so much time, a fight will 2/3 over by the time you finish summoning...IF you finish summoning. One lucky sleep, one stun, or (heaven forbid) silence, and you have to wait until the fight is over to try again.
Guess I'll just have to take advantage of this, and only use my summon for planned ganks and sieges. :D
I think the problem is with the rounding off for D->C.
On summoning...
D: 9*650=5850
C: 2*3000=6000
...so it looks fine at first.
Continuously...
5*650=3250
1*3000=3000
...oops! Since D is more than C (by pocket change), we have to increase the cost!
5*650=3250
2*3000=6000
...aaaand I think that's where you're having a problem.
Hmm...double the continous cost...have to try that out when I get home, I guess.
On a related topic, I wish they'd just had the time interval between crystal consumption decrease rather than having the cost increase. No roundoff errors and it's more intuitive. *shrug*
I feel your pain. I was taking a look at my Unicorn Merrow (which is level 50 at the moment) and it said 1 C crystal. So I thought, "Well, that's not so bad," and then looked at the consumption rate-- 4 crystals per full bar. That's like 18k a summon *eye twitches*...
But I understand its much worse for DAs. I remember back in C3 your summons cost something like 20 D crystals, I forget at what level. It was way too much money to begin with, now in C4 its crazy. Only the ES is saved-- hopefully with my AOEing summon I can make up for the money I lost summoning Merrow in the first place...
wow you could actually break even in c3?
you DA's are overpowered i swear lol
my ws was spending millions a day running the golem, come c4...
what really sucks is i've bought thousands of d crys at 500a- i think ive got maybe a hundred c crys less than 2900
most ws's know the mechanic golem is just for pvp anyway doesnt really matter that it takes less xp and uses ss now
as for +con da's, well frankly you are screwed man
hope you are a clan leader that requires his clan to deposit c crys every week
In c3, A fully buffed panther in with a fully buffed me could almost break even. Not quite, but close.

Exactly. If the continuous part of the cost was only 2 per 20%, it would still be more expensive, but useable. Maybe if we had a farming summon, this wouldn't be so bad, but we don't.
The main reason I picked Dark Avenger was so that I would be able to xp with a summon, but still be tough. I was prepared for an increase in price to use my summon, but this just breaks the bank. I would probably need outside bufs, heals, dances, songs, and my own room in a dungeon to even attempt breaking even, before we even factored in pet shots.
