I have been playing this game over 2 years now
I have yet to reach lvl 70 on my main and I play almost every day
I have never botted, ebayed, powerleveled, used [removed], etc etc
I don't know how many times I have heard people ask for a better reward system in this game eg: better drops, better xp, better adena drops, better quest rewards, yet NCSoft continuously turns a deaf ear
I have gone weeks without playing due to login/update server issues. I have not been playing since early December as I decided to upgrade my pc only to find out NCSoft and L2 doesn't support new technology.
Finally C4 arrives and I am unable to download a clean copy from Fileplanet or the official site as the files are corrupted, yet they will sell you the C4 disc set for another $10.00 on top of the $14.00 I have been spending each and every month for 2 years and the $52.00 I originally spent to purchase the game.
Obviously my patience is running very slim.
I would suggest to NCSoft that instead of making the game more glitzy, you spend some time making the game more playable/enjoyable, less of a grind to honest players and reimburse players instead of trying to milk them for every last cent.
I also imagine this post will be quickly removed as any true critisism of the game seems intolerable to the esteemed administrators of this forum
critisism posts are acceptable
you make some good points but some of your info is wrong (i beleave the download isnt corrupt try defragging hard drive or freeing space)
I got the corrupted file thing too. Only way I was able to play was by DLing it with the patcher and 'check file' option. Seems to be about 50/50 on the corruption issue. Some are "Oh, it's all dandy, downloaded great for me", and others are cursing the computer 'cause it was corrupt. Doesn't seem to be a straightforward solution to it yet. Hand in there, I'm sure some bugs'll get fixed.
Attempting to decompress with winrar gave a "corrupt file" message. I simply downloaded winzip and it was no problem. Unzipped, installed, easy breezy.

funny i have 3 different zip utilities (winzip not one of them)
first one i pick is always winrar, never failed yet (well sorta .tar is always funny)
you sure you guys are up to date?
A while ago Nc asked us on this forum, how many of us would be interested in buying a CD, instead of downloading the patch. I see it as an added service from NCSoft, and not a way to squeeze more money out of us. After all, it's free to download, if you want to do it that way.
But I do agree, that they should keep their technology up to date, so people with newer computers can play too. It's absurd that they don't support new technology.
I don't get how you can still be below 70, if you've been playing every day for 2 years. I guess you don't play for that long every day. I rerolled in July, and have passed 70 a while ago. (No, I don't have a life :p).
Very glad to see a criticism post that's not 99% whining, well written.
That said - I'm sure that playing the game continuously for the whole time might have not let you notice some things. The game developed - there are indeed now quest rewards that anyone could only dream of in C1, the adena drops are better (they can finance SS spam), in exchange for lowered item drop rates (which should not have made it from Korea to NA, but that's out of NCNA's hands).
I've never had issues with the update or login servers that were not on my end of the line, and I'm curious to know whether you contacted support or posted about it here - generally both support and the boards offer quick, concise help.
The 'files corrupted' problem is wide spread, but as someone said, the files are not actually corrupt, they are only compressed curiously.
Try to lean back and think what you like, or liked, about the game, what really has changed, and all that basic stuff. It's very easy to get caught up in the game and start playing it like a chore, and that would indeed make suffering the ever-jaggy edges it has impossible.
That said: I completely agree that NCSoft needs to take the time out to dedicate one chronicle to careful balancing, smoothing, pruning and generally improving the foundation on which the game stands.
ETA: You might want to give your post a descriptive title line, if changing those is possible without administrator help. =)

Playing 4 hours per day will not get you there that quickly. It is also highly dependant upon the class that you choose. Some classes find groups/duos far easier then others. Some can solo most of the way and don't even need help.

If I'd continued my tyrant, I'd probably be around the same level as I am on my SE now. I realise that SEs level faster than many, many other classes. But I'm also judging this from a fighter's point of view.
It's a matter of pace and priority - levelling fast isn't on everyone's mind. Grinding isn't the only thing to do in game, and play time per day matters a lot.
It took me less than two months to raise Faelir to level 49.9 with [censored] gear. It's taken me the better part of four to get Mielle to 48.7, as I've taken up classes and played the market more - and she was twinked and had OOP buffs for the better part of her playing.

Where it sounds to me like the OP is unhappy with the leveling speed for legit players. I'm hinting at, you need to put in the time and make an effort. I guess I failed. I would never look down my nose at someone else's leveling speed unprovoked.

I have been playing a little over a year. I started on Teon (was new server) and got to 62 on a glad tell I got so frustrated with the game I quit. Some rl friends talked me into coming back on another server now have a lvl 60+ Sps. If I would have stayed with the same toon I might be lvl 75 by now.
I quit because of the drop rate change in C3. At lvl 62 was in B grade and had 400k to my name I didn't see any future in the character besides being destroyed in pvp 98% of the time realy was frustrating.
I love the toon I have now. Even though he is still in C grade (demon) I can still grind very affectivley. I have all parts for A grade robes except helm. Hope helm prices go down in C4.
The xp rate isnt really bad tell u get into the 60's. The adena is much better than C2 but with using B bsps, Soul ore and magic haste pots while hunting xp comes faster but eats up 90% of adena dropped from mobs. Item drop rate is horrible I haven't had a full item drop since lvl 36. If it wasn't for events I wouldnt have what I have now.
Oh ya OE'ing weps past +3 was most of my profit down fall. Lets just say I will never go past +3 ever again LOL.
Its worth noteing that the chronicles are supposed to be addons, if you like, for the game, not something that goes back and edits the origional 'base game'. If you think the origional 'base game', is unbalanced and needs improvement it might be worth checking out another game. NC havent done too much to change the 'base game' majorly that will effect leveling legit and its my personal opinion that they will continue along these lines with future chronicles.
But then im a hypocrit because i'm still playing. Living in hope.
