since L2 start til C3, the game and my window screen is all fine.
until now, i update from C3 to C4, then lanuch the game, the game work fine, very good, but after i exit the game, it changed my window screen/color to very bright, no matter what i do it still cant change it back to normal window color/brightness, and it seem the in-game Gamma option affect it. It was never had this happen anytime before.
so anyone know how to change my window back to normal? the game all good, just dunno why i alt+tab or exit game, then it has this happen forever :(
It is your "Gamma" setting which by default is set to "Very High" turn it down to "Average" which is what most people did and its like C3, you can go lower as you see fit though.

that is what i did, the in-game Gamma is average now, the game color/brightness is very good and fine, but just it changed my window scree/display screen to very bright too, even i exit the game, it remain that super bright for my window/display screen. at C3 i never had this happen
I'm having the same problem. For some reason, no matter what i have the gamma, monitor brightness, video card brightness, etc. set at, certain things, like characters, appear to be drowned in light, even if they arent standing in a well lit area. Cant even think of what would be causing it.
EDIT: and it makes my desktop be drowned in light as well
But as soon as I close Lineage 2 brightness on Windows Desktop changes to normal. So it seems that the game temporarily changes the gamma... I hope that can be fixed, as L2 is always running in the backgroun at my pc and its much too bright then on the desktop!
I am getting this too. Some areas in the game are now so bright it's painful to look at. There seems to be some sort of glow effect on, that persists even when tabbed out. I've tried playing with the new shader/glow options, but all they do is make things even brighter. Setting them to "none", it is still obvious there is a glow on. The white glow seems uneffected by changing the gamma settings as well.
I dont remember it being like this on PTS before launch, yes desktop was very bright when tabbing out, but ingame was perfectly normal. Ingame now it seems like an ultra-powerful spotlight is being shone on everything. Not only is it ugly, but very difficult to actualy look at the screen it brightly lit areas, especially during daylight.
As for drivers, Splat, I'm using the newest 81.98 forceware drivers for my GF 6600.
Im having the same problems, the sky is bleached out and bright that i can barely look at it, and its making the colours sorta lurid, and painful to look at.
Any chance to the ones having issues being able to post any screenshots of what your talking about for the rest of us? And have any of you a open support ticket with support about this?
I'm having the same problem. It seems areas where there is bright sunlight it bounces off white objects suchs as clothing, walkways and creates an awful glare. I haven't been able to remedy the problem no matter what I do. Really tough on the eyes.
I put in a service report to PlayNC Support. So far all they've done is have me update my vid drivers and suggested I turn off "Shader". Duh... that was already off. I'm going to get some screenies in a bit to send them. Heine is a particularly bad area.
Well I dont have issues within the game there everything is fine but the game itself turns up the gamma, so when I tab out of L2 to my Desktop then everything is brighter, which is very annoying and wasnt before c4 :(

Thats your issue? That was way back in C3, it happened to me all the time...
When you tab out your forcing the game to be displayed using your desktop gama settings. To reset your ingame gama back just set it to something low then back to where you had it.
I am having brightness issues as well.
I waited two days to dl c4 to my puter, to let the rush get by. This is the first time I signed in, I crashed out, but when I come online to report the crash, all of a sudden the brightness on my computer is insane, I can't see my buttons on my toolbar online anymore...I have a very white background on my desktop, so don't notice it there as much, though my shortcuts seem to be washed out...I have been resetting my brightness and contrast like crazy and can't find a way to fix this. I didn't think it was connected to the game until I came across this thread....
Any ideas on how to fix that?
wow, I just noticed, the problem persists on my start menu too...can't see a thing ><
Experimented some more...having major issues at this point...when I go to my mailbox I can't see anything...I don't understand how lineage would be able to affect thigns other than the game itself on my computer...sending in a report to support....anybody else having such extensive issues?
Yes, yes, I tried setting my gamma all the way down but why in the world would I wanna run around in the dark. And yep, I reset my video card settings back to default.
When alt tab or minimize the L2, the entire graphic of the screen gets burned by light, incluyed the desktop and the windows bar. The entire windows interface gets his bright to the limit. That is out game not only in game. Navegator, and other aplications incluyed. All interface of windows get burned.
It hurts to the eyes badly. It isn´t like the C3 off-contrast ingame, this acts out game too, in the opossite way in this case.
Well, apparently a lot of us do have this issue and it's driving us nuts. It's VERY distracting. I was a participant in the Innandriel siege last night and could barely see when I was on the bridge it was so bright. It was blinding.
I have reset my video settings to default. I've updated my drivers. I've gone into system config and closed everything down there. I've done everything in the book.
MistrylPlayers are still able to discuss problems on the official message board in the Technical Discussion forums, but we will not gather bug reports from the forums.
So...
MistrylPlease submit all out-of-game bug reports through the Support web site. The Support web site provides a better tracking system than the message board, and it gives the QA team more information about your character and the problem you may be experiencing.
I DID submit a report through the support web site and mentioned that I did further up in this thread. They responded until they ran out of ideas and then left it open after me emailing them several times.
It a c4 issue for shure, i noticed it right away when i alt-tab out. It should not brighten up the screen at all. What i see is it raises the gamma/brightness value on the video cards.
It does it both ingame and on my desktop when I tab out. Something's gotta be done about this. The glare I get on white areas is awful! Never did hear anything back from support, even after me sending FOUR follow-up emails. Why am I not surprised. They could've at least sent me something to the effect that they were working on a solution to the problem.
Same problem here... with the current client version: ALT + TAB out of the game => everything is brigth
Another feature: If i start explorer I get a program crash
If I exit lineage2 client: Normal colors, starting explorer is ok...
System: Win 2000, NVidia GT6600GT with the newest available Driver Version
Cheers,
Blue
It is my believe it has to do with our beloved add-on protection system. As we all know by now it modifies all running processes of you computer. I did notice that if I have a game crash the LCD-screens I have will have a brightness to them that is higher then what I normallly have. I allso noticed that when I stop the game in a regular manor the brightness will be there up till the time that the GameMon.des is unloaded from the system. After that the screen pops back into it's normal brightness.
Allso norticed the locking of Explorer.exe on my computer. Again I have a feeling it is connected to said add-on. The only way to get the computer to work properly again is to close the explorer.exe in your taskmanager. Then in that same taskmanager you can restart explorer.exe using file-> run->browse for explorer.exe and restart it.
Note all of this happens much more often on my Win32 Windows version (Windows XP Home/Prof or Media Center Edition 2005). However on my Windows XP Pro x64 Edition (the version of Windows that demands EMT64 support for Intel or AMDx64 for AMD-processors/Mainboards) these locking problems are far less.
As for now I am starting to make dual-boot systems running Windows XP Pro x64 Edition to be able to play Lineage2.
I run my Lineage2 of these configurations:
Computer1:
Dualboot Windows XP/Windows XP x64
Intel 915/Pentium 4 3.6Ghz (core 660, HT-enabled)
Club3D Ati x1800XL 256MB
Computer2:
Dualboot Windows XPMCE2005/Windows XP x64
Intel 945/Pentium 4 D 3.2Ghz (Core 940)
Club3D Ati x1800XL 512MB
I've been having the same problem since C4 Launch too. Im using windowed mode, and everything around my L2 window is since C4 really bright (well, too much gamma on it). As said before, it would be nice with some official response *pokes Mistryl ;)* seeing as we are many having these problems. I didnt bother to say anything until now (and Im sure many more with me havent bothered either), even tho its been like this since C4 Launch, but nothing seems to be happening to fix it. And if there is something happning, it would sure make me happier to know what :)
Bumpity bump, because this is still an issue for me as well. Glad (in some way) that more are reporting on it. Maybe one day we'll actually get a response.
I opened up a support ticket immediately following the C4 launch about this problem. They had me do the usual "stuff" which of course didn't help. I've emailed them at least 4 times trying to follow-up on this and never got a response back.
BTW, is anyone out there that DON'T have this brightness problem?
because i want to know if it is affecting all players, or some palyers won't affect by this.
Yeah i can conferm that since C4, noticed l2 would jack the gamma up high when it launches and if you crash it stays. This been an issue since c4. It was never bright on my screen from C3 -
LOL and the funest then this is not 1 single GM or any from tech. support answer on this :).
i still have this issue :) but i reset brightness to default every time and i play game in DARK setting
