The Baby cougar starts at lvl 26, does indeed take roughly 10% of my exp, gaining own exp fast.
Different to Wolf and Hatchling, the baby pets are leveling like a group member. They do not need to do anything and still gain exp.
At 26 the cutey heals for 26hp and he does so without me doing anything for it. He does not need mana for it, so he will never run out of heals. Just the recast is not to fast, so he is not usefull for emergency healing, but rather for contiuous enhanced HP-regeneration. It keeps my Bounty Hunter going much better than solo, but I still have minor downtime from HP, but that is, cause I am 58 and he is 26. In the time, when Tigey-Wigey gained 50% for lvl 27 he was eating only 14 baby spince, which cost 130a each. Needless to say, that I made a lot more money than that in the meantime.
They do not get anything higher other than slightly better heals. There are two types of pets. The kind you get from the quests I listed above who are permanent (unless they die without rezzing) and the kind you get from the Beast Farm by taming.
The Beast Farm ones have buffs they can give you but the pets are not permanent and may leave at any time.
Also, you can get the quested pets at level 25 (if you have the adena) and the others are in a much higher level area (60).
I have a question that may be a bit more difficult. I heard from alliance members that a fighter tamed a pet buffalo and got a heal/buffer, but a healer tamed a kookabura and got mana regen and healer buffs.
Is this because the birds are mage buffers and the buffalo are fighter buffers? Or do they buff each person with what they need most?
Also, are all quested pets healers, or is there a chance a kookabura would give mana regen instead? Any mages try a kookabura yet? I know my baby cougar gives heals.
That's good news. I like my baby cougar and I was hoping not to have to trade it in for a birdie on the off chance that the bird might give me recharge later on. lol
i hunted alot with the tamed pets on pts, they randomly give buffs that go with your class, the type of tamed pet dosnt matter, they all always heal fighters and they all always regen mages.
whats nice is if you get one that buffs you they always rebuff as soon as the 20 min is up, they also cast greater heal(fighters) i noticed cougar heals for the most and for mages the regen is 120mp.
they are kinda dumb far as AI goes compaired to the new baby pets, they heal at random sometimes when your full or just a sliver of hp gone. the baby's always start healing when your at bout 25% hp gone.
To get any of the new pets, you need a pet exchange ticket for that pet (there is a different ticket for the each of the 3 pets). You can get them from your clan hall, but production is very limited, for 550k. You can also do a quest at the following towns:
1) 2-headed bird: Gludio, talk to pet manager, you have to buy a weapon for around 500k, and get 30 quest items from the lizardmen just outside town.
2) Buffalo: Dion pet manager - again buy a specific weapon from the shop, and get 30 quest items from the eye-balls just outside town.
3) Cougar: Giran pet manager: 500k weapon, 30 harpies
The quested pets only heal. This is very similar to hatchlings in Chronicle 1, they have no real function in this Chronicle.
The tamed pets act differently based on what you feed them. But it seems that mages get different feed than melee. You can trade the feed with other players to get the buffs you want (SK trades with mage to get feed for empower, etc.) You really don't have any direct control of these pets either... they have a mind of their own...
