Fishing

Fishing, I love it. Took me about 50 tries with the beginner stuff to get the hang of it, most people will probably learn faster than I did.

Its relaxing, its fun, reds will love it cause they can run up behind and PK you, the monsters' spells made me LOL, the shots are easy to get, and I cleaned up on stuff quickly.

Best of all, the stuff I got....I don't think that the <expletives go here> illegal program users are gonna be selling this stuff, messing up the market on it. It looks to me like fishing is designed with so many variables in the process that only a human paying attention will be successful at it.

Well done NCS.
hey..i'm hooked on the fishing bug too...
when you catch treasure chests....
do you just double click them, or can you bring them somewhere to have opened?
Double click them, good stuff.

Speaking of stuff, got a batch of Greater Fish Oil Common Craft 100% recipes. They turn fish oil into greater fish oil at an improved rate, thus increasing the Proof of Fishing that you earn from your oils. Craft cost is 75 mana.

So how much should I sell the extras for?
I just open them myself, by right clicking (faster than double clicking). Sometimes they break, sometimes they give premium fish oil (probably greater fish oil and normal fish oil or recipes for x type fish oil, if you fish with lower grade rods -mine is b grade).

So how much should I sell the extras for?

Got 34 of those recipes last evening and sold a bunch of them overnight for 1000a each (shop value is 25a).

Unfortunately (for you two ladies) I'm too poor to be too lazy...
so there ins't a bot program for fishing? thats very cool that will eliminate 80% of my server....

I'm just too lazy to explain it all to you folks, but I will say this :

Your fishing skills determines what you will catch (color of fish, and recipes or rewards). Rewards increase in "proof of catch" as your skill advances.

Chests are hard to open, I'd hoard the chests, and open them with a higher level player. Not sure it will give better results.

The spot you fish at has no incidence on what you catch. It will influence how often and fast the fish bite tho. A nice spot is from the bridge East just outside of Gludio. Lots of fish there. Also lots of treasure chests occurences.

Have Fun ! ™

Re: Treasure chests. I never had any difficulty opening, but now I realize I was using a TH with the unlock skill. Perhaps this is relevant?

They are refering to fish related item not the chest located at the feelds. PS Treasure chest's = mimic's Treasure box = :P not mimics
Yes, I was referring also to the chests that we get when fishing, not the ones in the fields.
I hate to be sour grapes. Cuz I love everything so far, and I'm having a blast with fishing. But it kills me that more than half my fish say "attempt for item conversion failed" after they are double clicked. Why does NC soft do this? They could give me a a low grade fish oil or low grade something, instead most of what I catch gives me nothing at all.

I farm fish shots for an hour, I buy lures, I go out and fish and most of them are wasted on dud fish. Heck even most of my treasure chests fail to item convert. THEY ARE TREASURE CHESTS FOR CRYING OUT LOUD.

I wish L2 would make things a low % chance of getting something good, lesser % chance of getting something okay, and high % chance of getting something lame.

Instead of a 50/50 chance of getting anything at all, and a super low % chance of getting something good.

Because as I said I love the fishing, I love how it works, Its very fun. But failing item conversion on 5 fish in a row, and 3 chests in a row, really spoil the fun.
Hey Ecro,

I think the chances of successful "conversion" of fish is fixed at 60% (doesn't depend on levels or anything), treasure chests are probably lower. I think I'm only successful on 10% of those. :(
fun? ... grrr ... what is fun about a lvl 74 SE pulling an aggro level 74 mob that is resistant to root? ... how exactly will i kill it with my soes? ... same old lame -.- from NC Soft ........

oh and as for bots ... saw one on the pier inside giran ... mob just beat on bot till mob vanished then bot went back to fishing
I know what you mean. Untill I get my subclass done (expensive bish, that quest) and earned some more money for A or S grade rod, I'm fishing on a lvl 60 WS. After that, I'm going to be fishing ONLY when I have someone with me that can deal some damage, if I haven't aquired a pair of duals by that time.
I saw a lvl 76 SE pull out a mob on PTS in Heine. I think it was the first time her or any of her party had seen a mob come from fishing because she kinda ran around a bit until she finally just gave up. Sadly, I didn't think she needed help (she had several friends there). She died >.<

Fishing should be a social activity anyway. Who fishes alone ? Are you there to ponder the great mysteries of life ? Hell no. You're there because your tired of grinding and want to try something new. What better way to enjoy something new and exciting than in the company of friends ?

:)
Noob question here, where is the Learner NPC for the fishing?

I read some guides, however excelent they were, they either don't mention, or else I failed to see where you go to get this thing started, learned and get rod/shots.

Thanks.
The fishing trainers are always in the grocery store in all the towns/villages.
