Real quick, I think it is a huge expansion the amount of spots to go, but they will quickly dwindle down into key grind areas and key solo areas as did C3, I really like the fact that tanks are more needed melee glads etc are more needed in parties, howver havent tested PVP skills yet really. The war system is double sided, basically same pvp with almost no loss if you die, therefore taking out the drive to go gank people (imo) Goddard is pretty impressive some of the screens made is seem HUGEEE but its not that big im comparision to the other castles. Goddard town looks nice setup nice a ring. All in all I dunno to be honest, whether it will be something worth while or just some new armor/weapons to appease us for another 5 months.
I think this new war system sucks. If anything it makes it not worth the time to hunt down the enemy at the 1% chance they will not bsoe/party recall. Because even if they do niether of those, you only take 1% max from them.
Yeah, the new war system seems like the cowards way out to me. So a clan can be like, "oh, BBW keeps ganking us and PKing our members, we'll just declare war on them" and then they only loose 1% if they die, whether you accept the war or not. Clan wars should encourage people to stay and fight, not be a "just in case my BSOE doesn't work".
I like the new interface, having a system message box and a chat box, but it's really going to take some time to get used to.
I LOVE having a timer on buffs, that way I don't pull some huge group mob 1 minute before my buffs run out. This is probably my favorite thing about C4.
I think the Hero Chat is going to get annoying after people start winning and use it to sell items or trash talk.
I HATE the new Solar Flare animation. They took away all the cool swirly things and made it look like Aura Flare followed by a lightning bolt. It looks ******ed.
I really like the fact that we can increase the amount of storage in our WH and inventory and how much we can sell at one time. However, I so far suck at fishing so it's going to take a while for me to get any of those.
I don't really like the way the new towns look. They definitely create atmosphere - they remind me of LOTR: Return of the King. But I prefer towns like Elven Village and Heine. Just my preference.
I think they added some good things. Is every new area 70+? Some of the new quests in Valley of the Saints and Rune Castle town start as low as level 60, so are there areas there with level 60-70 mobs? I think they need some new solo areas, because basically all there is for 60-70 right now is DC, FG and BS.
I have mixed feelings about the new war system. On the one hand, there will be more overall PvP - meaning that your PvP count will rise yay! On the other hand, you will not be able to cause someone as much pain as before. It is, in essence, as if we were having server-wide consensual wars = more actual pvp, but only 1% or .5% loss. A good thing is that there will be no out-of-war healing/buffing/dancing. However, getting ganked while xping is still getting ganked, even if it is for little xp loss, you're still not happy that you got ganked.
I also like the cheaper AA port prices. However, porting fees, quest item fees, and fishing costs are RIDICULOUS. I mean, millions for a fishing pole? 1/10 of a million just to port to certain places? NCSoft claims to want to curb the ebaying but how can you take that policy seriously when you have to spend an arm and a leg just to do anything new that C4 offers?
The new places are cool, the way theRBs are set up now is AWESOME and as far as i can tell, the drops from them are MUCH better.
I do feel overall, though that C4 rewards those of the highest levels with INSANE benefits, especially since many fo those who are 75/75 got that high by using 3rd party programs, etc. I feel that those who are least deserving will reap the rewards of the hero/noble system and i don't like that. add that to the fact that the heroes's skills during sieges and raids can literally turn the tide of battle, it is regrettable that the biggest botters will have the most influence over a castle siege.
the new clan hall stuff is great. they should have added new port spots to the aden ones, instead of having to buff in there and then spend 100K+ to get anywhere to hunt, but i suppose that's the clan's choice to pick where they want their CH to be. the ++xp from hunting and the buff pets also make it a lot easier for ordinary mortals to get to 75, which is nice.
fishing is fun, rewards are good, but what is needed to reap the benefits is INSANE. but i suppose that is what you get in L2 - BIG rewards, but even bigger sacrifices. more of the same in the end. we'll see how long the novelty lasts before ppl get bored and start quitting again :(
The more overall pvp, only time will tell, I know alot of people have just lost the urge to go gank for .5. But at the same time it makes people try to go after a group they wouldnt go after so maybe more motivation. I dunno but i do agree only a test of time until the novelties wear out and your back to the grind same stuff each day.
So far in a few diff hunting spots 76 grind seems like about 1% - 1.4% a hour in a mixed melee/ranged group for me.
Im gonna test out some new spots tonight and see if its better or worse.
I too did not play on the PTS server. I only played for couple hours last evening after the download. I havent been too involved in the PvP on the server so I have no comment on that.
I did attempt to find some new hunting grounds immediately around goddard. I did like the new animal animations as they seem smoother. I wish there was some good hunting immediately outside Goddard but they were all 1/2 HP mobs. To the east of Goddard were some 2x antelopes and other animals that gave reasonable exp and I did get a tallum blade drop (nice to see A grade weapon parts).
To the north of Goddard I tried the orc camp but the mob that I encountered was deep red (Im 68) 4x that aggroed on me. I was lucky to survive that encounter. Also noted these seemed to be pack oriented, but I didnt check it out too well.
I also ported to the Vilanos town to the West of Goddard and saw some deep red mobs that I decided were probably too much. I think these were 2x type mobs. In a nutshell, I will agree with you GMB that mellees will be needed for alot of hunting and most of these mobs will probably be good in 3-4 man parties. Which will probably be a nice change of pace as compared to forming 9 man party to hunt upper floors of ToI or deep DVC.
Continuing west, I headed towards the town of Rune and checked out the undead area. These mobs were 1x type and yellow to me and gave surprisingly good exp. I was duel boxing and typical mob kills were 9K for me and duel box. Seemed to be comperable to killing Marsh Predators and Orc Snipers from Blazing Swamp, but better exp. I will warn though these mobs have unreal poison that was doing about 400HP per click it seemed, so your healer better pay attention.
I wanted to hunt north of Rune to see if this hunting confirms my belief that lower level hunting will be around Rune and higher level hunting will be around Goddard. I too am looking to target good solo exp areas.
The Xp is pretty ridiculous for 70+ people even 76+ people in C4.
Also heros on the private server blew nuts.
They tried ganking our group of 4 with 6 heros. IF they weren't so [censored] glowy we could have known they had two healers. But even with us having only 1 healer we managed to kill one make one run away we rooted one then we noticed he was getting healed to late and hte other ran back and we all died.
So i imagine the Hero isn't going to be some sort of ridiculous class. If you know the players and who to target they are easy to pvp against. Exspecially since they will mainly be non legit players who have botted and suck at pvp anyway.

So far I really like what I saw last night. Really pleased that alot of A recipes and Parts that were quest only are now drops and spoils. Was fun for me to go the imperial tomb and come out with 3 soul bow staves after a short hunt - 2 spoil, and 1 drop.
Probably not good for those who have only recently acquired an A weapon, but for the rest of us prices should hopefully be falling fast.
The monster AI seems a little better - the soulshot using mobs hurt - a green dagger using mob hitting me for 400+ on crits and critted a lot... ouch.
The other thing I tried was: I went to the beast farm and tamed a buffalo there. He buffed with me with haste and was healing me for 809HP - NICE! He ran away when I left the area though :(
As for the clan war I'm pretty new to the pvp side of things. I understand why most of you don't like it - as others said only time will tell - I hope it will encourage people to fight back and encourage lower levels to engage in more pvp. But probably like many other things in L2 it will backfire.
Is it true btw that bsoe now take a full second to cast? allowing them to be interrupted?
This is a good thread. i will post tomorrow on what places I hunted at. i did find last night that the Wall of Argon or something like that had wind-weak and archer-weak mobs for GREAT xp. this is a good chronicle for SHs. i also went to the orc camp and almost died to 3 blood-red orcs but i eventually got out alive. great xp, but i dumped a lot of my mana.
i also quickly got addicted to fishing. it's really fun and looks cool. the seamonsters are fun too and they drop good lures so that's good. what does suck is that even if u do catch a fish, when u go to "open" them, they might fail and u might get nothing anyway :(
i also hunted inside a dungeon with beetles and scropions and things. those mobs were HARD and 4x HP. ouch. we also ended up in some lava place - we creep up on some mobs at the entrance - FULL party mind you - and we start killing the mobs. XP was good. as soon as we kill the last mob, THREE MORE spawned in its place, killed our buffbot and we had to PR lol. FIRST ROOM OF MOBS!! I felt like my first day in CT when i ended up playing backup healer for a group in CT2. that was the highlight of my night i think.
Oh, and killing raid bosses with a tank group and a SH group for 750K+ xp :)

is the tomb place the dungeon with the beetles and scarabs? i think that's where the dorf who posted here from Noob got those soul bow staves. someone told me about a fat guy down at the bottom there but i could barely sleep the mobs in there!! killing those bugs was annoying b/c they had so much HP so we got tired and left but i heard about the fat guy. i'mma try that tho.
oh, we also helped Setech kill a boss you need for the hero quest. it was in some valley behind a yellow hologram doorway. it was a female angel who had HUGE male angels as minions. super easy, great xp, A weap parts drop and a blessed EAA drop. oh and i love the voice that comes on after you kill a raid boss.
btw, has anyone gotten one of those blessed EWAs?

yeah the imperial tomb is the place where the "fat boys" are. Those are wild and look cool as well. The Scorpion Skeleton looking mobs are what I got the soul bow staves from - the Fat Boys were spoiling S grade Jewelery mats. You defintely get a big surprise if you kill a roomful of them!

Very true. Im too lazy to read the other 14 posts. L30N got me today. Saw him flag and was just gonna let him go red as I ressed someone....I die...lose 1%...he still purple? Gah! Stupid new war system. :confused: Oh well. Was still good good fun. ^^
overall it's a good chronicle so far. i'm bit disappointed that rangees > melees still. A "rush" skill for melees could have balanced the game a bit.
the war system is exactly what we expected: more pvp but less "pain" like plague says.
the new hunting areas seem more challenging which is good. no more brainless grind.

Well, as someone that's not even level 60, most of the chronicle's pretty pointless for me. But the bug that causes my computers to always crash in shop mode will bankrupt me if not fixed. So, I hate C4. Too many serious bugs.

Third class transfer 1-3 days depending on luck
S Grade Armor, lol 1-2 month we will start seeing sets like a fair amount

I gm'd against GMB last night for taking my clan title privileges away. I was gonna tell on him. And they responded it was not the time for "frivilous" petitions then hung up on me.
Valley of saints will be full of farmers within a few days, some awesome spoils in there(Mith Ore, Met Thread/Fiber, Ori, Enria, Asofe, and more) plus the quest gives you a choice of materials or cash after 300 gems. It is also the new Forsaken Plains for nukers to solo at, and takes you higher in levels(You can solo grind into the 70s there).
Raid Bosses dont seem worth the effort anymore. We killed a 75, got 40 Tateossian ring wires and a Brezz. We killed a 65 and got an EAA(Admittedly, we had high levels killing it). I dont see raiding being profitable anymore for some reason. But that was only 2 bosses, maybe my view will change if we can get some raids in BEFORE Beyond or 2/1 kill them all(thanks NCSoft for not even putting in a gameguard update so the bots would get shut down for a few days so we can see C4 in peace).
I can already see the fights between Chaos and Inv while they are killing mobs for 3rd class(if most people do the 700 mob part which seems likely) should be interesting to watch.
Wall of Argos will be farmed to death, thus killing the prices on A grade weapons.
Fishing will make XP groups harder to form as people will be addicted to fishing(Us non-hardcore players <3 fishing).
Swamp of Screams will kill a LOT of people at first till they figure out how to safely hunt there.
Valakas will die before march 6 and the teleports going away.
You will see many hardcore players creating alts to kill Ant Queen, Core and Orfen for the special jewlery(Core's Ring is the same as Maj Ring, and at +3 the same as clean Tateossian).
A grade prices will crash, but 11-12 crystal prices will rise as more people have access to the weapons and want crystals.
Spoil rates appear to be increased somewhat. Expect prices to drop across the board.
You dont think you could get that organized GMB? I guess other servers will beat us to the punch again. With the noblesse ports available, getting through forge of gods isnt exactly hard, so I would assume you folks would find a way to get it done. Everything I've read says that Valakas is easier overall than Antharas, just getting to him is stupid hard. But I have no interest in doing either of them, so I could be wrong. Besides, I dont think Prophian will be able to sneak in and % heal valakas on ya.
But Yes, I stand by my statement. A server WILL Kill Valakas before the general noblesse ports disapear. If I actually had cash in game, I'd bet on it, but my measly 4 mil isnt much of a bet.
Its not about being organized atm, he was meant to be killed by heros and 78's not 70-75's that have no idea what they are getting into. Cap is 200 players, there isnt 200 players 75 on lionna even if all the alliances came together not gonna happen. 200 players at the same time coming together, hard enough to get 150 to log on for siege or antharas. And those are from 60-75...
25 Days, I will take ur bet, ill make it 1 sided also, if another server slays it before your deadline ill give u 10 million adena and a pet ticket =P and no u dont have to give me anthing on your end it will be all win win for you.

Stuff to do for the next two weeks before going back to the grind.

Great new hunting grounds. Rainday was two-shotting stuff for a lot of exp. I was getting 5k in a 4 man group. so my guess is 8k+
AoE did not die. just takes a little more thought.
New useful chat system.
The Bad:
Lamer pvp.
New worthless pets. 1 patk, 2 matk, 4 pdef and 6 mdef ...
Overly expensive and time consuming quests for crappy rewards.
No wedding. or I haven't seen any evidence of one.
Chat system however useful is limiting. and actually works against proper coordination.
Next to worthless passive bonus from A jewels for non-mdef mastery types. (mdef mastery types get 2-3x the stated mdef on items)
Non-functional Gameguard.
All in all a decent Expansion.
Plague's right in that this was meant mostly for higher level players, pet quest = 450k, fishing rod = 8m (S grade). Formal wear = Artisan mold and Oriharukon 10 each. I forget the price but those are expensive. don't get me started on the noblesse quests.
well i didn't visit many new spots last nite so i cannot update.
however, i have seen MORE overall pvp. yes, ganking mostly, or calling a full party to retaliate for an earlier gank, but pvp is pvp. i fear that the only time we will have full-on open group(s) vs. group(s) pvp will be for special events like raids, sieges, CH battles or MAYBE a side will start camping or "dominating" a certain +++Xp or ++++drop area and so the other side will bring some players to try to take it back for a little bit. i am just guessing here tho, but i HAVE seen more ppl dying due to pvp.
also, it will be very easy for xp groups from the opposing sides to not even be able to find themselves while xping or even if they're looking to pvp. there is just SO much land and the dungeons are BIG and complex. in time tho, the world will seem much smaller too.
C4 offered changes for all levels, not just the higher ones. All levels can fish, benefit from the new raid bosses, take advantage of improved manor system, customize their char more with eye patches, etc.
Sure the new hunting grounds are for the higher levels, but those were very much needed. A lvl 50 can choose a dozen places to solo, where a lvl 75 could really only solo in BS.
As always we are just passengers on the ride. NC Soft drives the train as they see fit. I have my complaints, so I looked at all the other MMOs coming out this year and it looks like I am going to be stuck with L2 until L3 comes out. No game offers the graphics + the pvp system that L2 does. And even though I personally don't like the war system, there isn't a better game out there.
Just want to make the point that you can solo in the new areas at about Level 60. At 62 I can head up to the beast farm, buy my crystal spice (hmm must have been the 6th spice girl) train a buffalo and have it throw VR3, regen etc on me and heal me for 800hp a pop while I smack the mobs in the area. C4 has made it possible for Level 60's to solo without a 2nd PC, I'm bloody happy about that.
Truelies, who are you kidding with the comment "Enjoy the new raid bosses" I cant enjoy crap with Beyond around..oh..wait..its WelcomeBeyond now after they got mass banned once. Its a good thing the GMs are intelligent enough to spot somthing that easy.

While it sucks that RB are farmed and theres so few left for players....I still have to kinda laugh at how beyond is getting slowly kicked to the curb

I stunned thier tank, all thier nukers popped onto me, and STILL didnt kill me before I was out of distance and the raid boss was chasing them(to be fair, I had over 10k HP at the time). They are stupid easy to stop. Besides, Happylife can talk to them for us and they'll leave a raid boss alone(Happy joined AI! w00t for him, he's awesome). And thier spies like giving free PvP points, they flag on us now and then.
When I stunned a tank on Beyond, I was dropped before I had time to run, so I dont mess with them anymore.
From what Im hearing, Beyond is still taking 90% of the raid bosses, 2/1 is hardly as organized so they are getting very few. I'll see them camped at a spawn point for 30+ minutes.
Regardless, the GMs have banned BOTH of these crews before, and they are BOTH back with similar names and that doesnt raise any red flags.

2over1 is much more organized than beyond
1. boss spawns
2. 5 mins goes by
3. 2over1 ia there and buffed
4. boss dies
5. beyond just porting to the closest town to get prep for the dead boss
ive seen it happen alot lately

Clans still find and kill raid bosses every day, perhaps not Chaos clans but others do. To use a recent non-Invin/Chaos example I watched Rising Blades kill Orfen recently, but this applies to higher lvl bosses as well. And "regular" Invincible players see plentyyyyy of benefits to having Beyond in the ally. The entertainment value ALONE of you guys talking about them is wonderful. But there are numerous very tangible values they see also, and many members are quite aware of them. Our members have received PLENTY of xp going raiding with Beyond, who otherwise doesn't care about XP. Beyond has been very generous even providing A weapons to people who help them. They go red so our other members who value xp more don't have to. Helping at Antharas is a big deal, and they take very little in the way of drops. I could go on with several more things but golly gee I really don't see the need to educate you. Believe what you want.
As far as Beyond vs 2over1 these clans may fight due to contention over mobs, but that's about it. Each clan functions the same way. No one clan is significantly better then the other. Each of these groups perform their functions on multiple servers. If one clan beats the other to a boss on Lionna, then the other clan is beating them to a boss on a different server.

As far as Beyond vs 2over1 these clans may fight due to contention over mobs, but that's about it. Each clan functions the same way. No one clan is significantly better then the other. Each of these groups perform their functions on multiple servers. If one clan beats the other to a boss on Lionna, then the other clan is beating them to a boss on a different server.

In C4 if you crash in Valakas' lair, Antharas's Lair or Lilith/Anakims Chamber, you are supposed to be able to reconnect within 30 minutes without being ported back to town, all members that crashed were sent back to town(Due to lag and other things, there were constant DC's). So not cool. Its ok though, Maybe they'll make another run at it this weekend. Oh, and its happened on 2 servers. I still stand by my statement, Valakas will fall "soon" but with the disconnect bug in place, it will not fall till the bug is fixed.
