How do fishing levels work? I've trained up 2 levels so far but donno what they do and whey there are different levels. Ingame directions are not cutting it for me. I'm using a C grade warsmith with c grade pole and I have some c grade shots. So, what's the levels for?
the higher the levels ... the harder the fish get, the AI gets better, and they are harder to catch. and remember...you fish skills can't be more than 2 lvls apart...if they are you won't catch anything
Thanks for the answers, so the better I get personally then higher level I should get my abilities set to. Do the rewards get better with the higher levels?
I recomend going slowly up in levels, try a level at a time and you notice when it start to be to hard, that meens you need an higher grade fish rod. Spam shot is not the way to go.
Also for best result make sure your pumping and reeling is 2 levels abow fishing expertise, more then 2 and you get penelised but you gain more damage having them 2 levels abow.
Also there is some quest's that you can't do if you have to high fishing lv, the first one requires lv 8 fishing.
Also the +76 quest you need lv 24 fishing if you learned 26 you won't be able to catch the fish on your own for the quest.
Fishing skill level 1 is your active skill, which basically allows you to cast. When you level up Fishing expertise, that is a Passive skill, like all other weapons expertise.
DON'T MAX out your skills. You'll be elminating some quests along the way (unless you use an alt). Some of the special bait quests require a certain level to get the item (e.g. purple chest). Sure, you can get them from players, but still, maxing out fishing skill levels just "cuz u got da cash" isn't the best course of action IMHO.

But those lower lvl quests have really low value prizes i think. Like the lvl 12 skill "Special bait quest" just gives some D grade jewelry! I'm hoping the one in Aden (when they activate it) has better prize.

you have to kill 100 Tarlk Basilisks.
he gives you 4 special "BAIT OF LAND" lures that only catch treasure chests and not fish. He says bait is best used by skill lvl 16 fishermen, unlike the skill lvl 12 of the Giran quest.
if you catch the right kind of treasure chest, i think you can return it to him for another quest or get a special item.
The next quest he offers sez he needs a "small purple treasure box" caught using the special land bait.
