since yesterday evening a lot of the German players are not able to log into the game or open the lineage2.com webpages. We all get the message that there is no response from lineage2.com and the game comes up with a gameguard error.
I managed it now to reach this forum by using a proxy server but I'm still not able to open Lineage 2 because of a gameguard error again. Unfortunately I can't see the error code because the 'OK' button hides the code.
I tried a tracert to see where the problem is and found out that I was able to reach a routing server in Washington but that's it - the routing stops there with a timeout.
NCsoft please help us here in Germany to go on playing L2.
OK, maybe I get kicked after this posting but I want to tell you what the result of contancting the L2 support was:
(It's a copy of what I posted in our ally forum.)
Sometimes I could cry when I have to contact a support department because of problems.
...like I did Saturday evening as I contacted the Lineage 2 support because of the connection problems many of the German users have. I told them everything. I told them that a lot of Germans have that problem. I told them that I tried every possible standard solution including f.e. deleting the gameguard folder. I told them that the tracert stops in Washington. I told them that I'm someone who knows what he's doing because it's my job for about 15 years to repair computers and many more, but what are they doing?
They ask me to delete the gameguard folder. Wow! Great! Didn't I tell them that I already did this?
So I wrote back and asked if they are not able to read my mails (ok, it was not so nice but I'm getting angry by supporters who are sending standard mails to make their job easier). And I told them again every single point of what I've done to get L2 running.
The reply was again as I expected: They told me to check my ports (although it worked two days before and I didn't change anything), to check my firewall, to check my whatever - everything I already did and they already knew. Hey, I told them that many of the German players (see the technical thread on lineage2.de) have that problem from the same time on. Do they all have blocked their ports, have the same spyware and have closed their firewalls at the same time Friday night?
That's not what a support has to be. Asking the L2 support is like talking to walls. It only comes back what you shout - nothing more. It's impossible to give a good support by only sending standard replies but that's what they're only doing.
So if you ever have any problems with L2, don't try to ask them anything. They can't help you. Asking some other players in any community is much more helpful.
I'm glad that L2 is running again (although it took a few few hours of my time and a slow proxy connection) so I don't have to contact these ignorant people again, but I'm thinking about telling them how ignorant I feel they are.
Sorry but I had to tell you my anger in view of that outrageous incompetence and customer unfriendly behavior.
I know it's gonna make you fume; but check if you are replying within the dotted lines they provide you after every mail they send back to you; I found out the hard way that they do indeed IGNORE everything that is outside said dotted lines (maybe using a batch processor to earse whatever is before and after) and be patient; it took them 3 dyas to clarify that my prepaid card wasn't capable of activating an account on its own, so I had to buy a new CD case for this account :P
And all beacuse I forgot to reply as they ask you to :(
but check if you are replying within the dotted lines they provide you after every mail they send back to you
That's also a bit strange but yes I wrote my answers exactly between these lines every time.
If it's you and others to then it's probably a router that's gone down between you and the lineage2 servers.
Meanwhile I found out that a routing server on the way to the L2 server crashed but that's not really the point. I'm annoyed about the way how a user who pays for playing the game is been treated. I have absolutely no problem to pay for it because I like the game but then I want to be taken serious.
If it's you and others to then it's probably a router that's gone down between you and the lineage2 servers.
yes that's all possible.. but it frankly doesn't make any sence... as where the saposed router is down... other connections are made to other sites through the same pipe.... it's kinda like ncsofts ISP is the culprit mostly....
