No the drop rate if you hunt mobs listed for the quest is very high, close to 100% in my experience.
You can't just hunt any old mob for that quest. You must hunt a mob listed as being part of that quest (the fishing NPC will give you a full list).
So, you must not be hunting a mob listed as being a mob for that quest. Either that, or the list is inaccurate and NC needs to fix it. Either way - try a different mob on the list of killable mobs :)
Could the drop rate be level dependant? In other words if i was a level 25 character killing level 10 mobs that are on the list, would the drop rate be less?
Being it's listed as a quests, the mobs level shouldn't come into the drop rate.
I'm tempted to ask support if the quest is bugged, and what the ratio is for this quest. But i know they will just tell me that they cann't tell me that... :)
If a person is going to burn through fishing shots as fast as soulshots, the drop rates have to be higher then this.
I think this is it. I did this quest on the pts in Elmore, and I got 4 sweet fluids in 40 minutes, killing maraku warewolves, where I get much more sweet fluids on live. I think this is because the higher level shots you need, the less you get per sweet fluid.
It was, but to land a fish you usually use 1-2 shots unless you havent trainded the pumping/reeling skills or are using an inferior rod for fishing. Say, you're using NG rod at lvl 20 of expertise >.> Then you will burn alot of those, but otherwise, no probs.
For the drop rate, I got them too with my hatchling killing mobs, and in ToI I got hundreds of them, 3-4 per mob. Antharas Lair seemed to be a place where mobs dont give those(didnt check the npc list for mobs) since I got 0 there. Might be the same thing with you, you're just killing mobs that dont give it. Check the NPC and look at the mobs in Orc village area that drop it.
Lowe lv mobs drops at lower rate, higher lv mobs drop at higher rate, As you get a TON of shots for the eg NG shots.... and theos last like 3-4 hours fishing.
And I know by fact at TOI you can get as much as 11 at a time :P, GC I get 1-2 at a time almost all the time 1 hour there and I got about 100, I have over 1k sweat fluid by now, and yeah made em all Shot B grade, sadly only used up 50-100 or so, and ben fishing for hours ^^.
At level 58, I went at forest of outlaws to solo basilisks there for the lvl 48 bait quest at the same time. In an hour, I got 2 sweet fluids and 1 out of the 100 quest items. Mobs were light blue to me.
I got bored and I went to hunt matriachs with 2 clannies and got 15 sweet fluids in under 20 minutes, sometime getting 2 per mob. Those were green and 2xHP.
Right after that, we moved to giants cave with 2 more clannies. It wasn't great in XP, but I got 2 sweet fluids per mobs 75% of the time and I jumped to 100 sweet fluids in under 2 hours. Those mobs were white to me.
I believe that you get more sweet fluid if you hunt the mobs that are at near or higher your level. Even more if mobs have HP multipliers (2xHP, 3xHP, etc.)
