Beast shots have RADICALLY changed the game for me. Sure, I'm missing out in new skills - but new skills aren't useable on DEAD mobs. ;)
With the double in damage potential, how many of ye are considering raising wolves now? I'm sure a few of ye will still stick to the "wolves suck" mantra - but me own has 499p.atk... and she hits HARD for the low low cost of 48a per hit. (Cheaper then BSS!!!) ;)
Hint hint NCSoft, Kiranya wants to PvP. Make collars no drop (soul binding?) and give wolves CP. ;)
I'm worried about, how I'm supposed to keep aggro, with the wolf hitting so hard now. Without shots one or two windshackles did the job, but I'm not so sure it's gonna be enough, if I want it to use shots  And I do.

Ive raised my wolf a couple levels using wind shackle, If they have good gear, are buffed, and fight mobs a couple levels below, They steal aggro about 3/4 through the mob, but at the end with VR they do alright. :)
i tried levelling a wolf ages ago but found him to be too much of an aggro magnet. Too many times I get a random respawn aggro and 2 shot the poor guy :(
The other pets are a diff story tho, I've got myself a baby couger now :D the little guy is so helpful in reducing downtime. The range on his heal is HUGE, i can hide him in the trees, make him stay, hit mobs and get some nice healing happening. If the range is too far to heal he jumps out gets within range does a heal and runs back. The heal range makes it so much easier for him to survive. When my health is really low, i just plop down next to him.
I got it fairly well balanced that the wolf never took focus. What I did on PTS was keep a cheaper weapon for the wolf so that it stayed balanced even with shots.
On Sieg I invested in fang of salty dog already (not the tip top, but up there).
I guess I'll try it with using beast shots only some of the hits, but that takes another slot on the active tool-bar, plus babysitting. Has anyone had trouble keeping mobs from turnin on the wolf?
Well, I already had one that I levelled a little, but as soon as I heard beast SS were coming in C4, I put his collar into storage to wait it out...once I've finished a few more-pressing issues, I'm going to be training a puppy.
Close enough, Kiranya?
I dun think I will start on Wolf, but I am currently lvling a Hatchling. It is fun with his new spell and it is a ranged attack. So my pet is safe while i root the mob.
BTW what is the Pet SP for? Are they able to learn new skills?
While I haven't given beast shots a try yet (I'm poor), I am working on two separate pets.
The first is Nahoa (http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c33/koster_jay/Nahoa.jpg), my wolf. I've just started him, using my warrior alt as the tank. I'm hesitant to break him out, given my inability to hold hate for any period of time.

Lol, I've used my Hatchling with a new batch of Steroids, err, i mean Shots in CoA, quite a few times, the Hatchling was getting slept by mobs, for over stretching it's little muscle :p That never happened before to me.
sorry no doggie here, still working on my rideable chicken(almost there), but i have a wolf collar all ready to go. but my clanie has a wolf....and man is he powerful....309patk....**** thing hurts....yours much reallly hurt :)...i think his is lvl 49 now or 50 can't remember....but hes almost to "Bgrade" :)
Nope had some wolfs since prelude already.
My first i dismissed to wild by mistake in prelude
Actually i use all of my Wolfs on alt chars only so they only lvl when i got bored of my main char.
As for the soulshots i dont use them on my wolfs. That maybe change when my Paladin hit 52. But the wolf lvls without ss twice as fast as my Paladin so i dont think i need some.
Oh yes wolf lvl 48 has 271 patk.
still got the same wolf ive had since c1 took him out to dvc died a bit too fast for my taste so going to try to take him to around PG hes low tho only 26
Not a new one but I may be breaking out Walllace and Gromit here soon (need to get my AW to 52 and my SO to 40 first). I've been playing with the baby pets, too. Oh, and what to do with all of my hatchlings...
