Why am I getting this error? [mscorlib.dll]

General Technical Issues Started Last reply 19 posts
It says, failed to delay load mscorlib.dll(win32 error:998)
I can't fix it, I saw people saying that they got this when hacking but I'm not using hacks. I just came back to play after i quit for a few monthes and i installed the new update and it says this. I also reinstalled microsoft network 1.1 2 times.
now when you stay you reinstalled microsoft network 1.1 you mean the framework? i would check the microsoft knowledge base to make sure there isnt any specific steps needed for reinstalling, not just overwriting everything
yeah i meant framework, anyone else have any suggestions?
Maby a LONG shot, but google up that dll you can easely find it, put it in your L2 system dir and try to start L2.

I can't prommese it works, but it may ^^.
i just check the microsoft site and now they put out 2.0, im gonna try it and right now im resintalling lineage2, well updating this long patch and ill try it then then update this. thanks again. you two play on devianne by any chance?
also, that file that isn't loading is in the framework and it pops up with an ati icon but its for lineage...and some people say it happens to some gun game too
I know this error. Just off hand what version of the ATI drivers are you running?
This is an issue that you will need to make ATI aware of. Our best suggestion is to try uninstalling your drivers and Catalyst Control Center utility completely. The best method of doing this is their CATALYST Uninstaller located in their CATALYST - ATI Maintenance Utilities download section.

Allow your computer to reboot and then install the latest ATI drivers and CCC. If you still receive the error, I suggest repeating the steps above but in instead install the driver version that does not come with the CCC as a temporary workaround. Afterwards. contact ATI Support (http://www.ati.com/support/).
i still need to try out the new version of framework, still waiting for lineage to finish dling before i can restart computer, if resinstalling lineage and the framework does not work ill try what you suggested. ty for all the help
Thats the error I get when I improperly make a shortcut for L2.exe(you know, drag the exe out isntead of making it a shortcut first, hehe).
wow, if that was the reason ill be so mad. im still reinstalling lol
If you still get the error, i have a few things you can try.
Some players are having better luck with the 6.2 drivers + CCC. You may want to give these a shot.
Your post to yourself is confusing at best... :)

The only three options at present is use the 6.2 CCC drivers with .NET 1.1..... Use the 6.2 CCC drivers with ONLY .NET 2.0 installed...Or to use the 6.2 Only driver.
I actually had this error on all of my computers at one point. Here is one thing you can try that fixed mine. Navigate to your LineageII.exe, usually in C:Program FilesLineage IILineageII.exe. Right click on it and go to properties--->select the Compatibility Tab--->put a checkbox in the box that says, Run this program in compatiblity mode for:-----> and select Windows NT 4.0 first, then run it. If that doesn't work select Windows 2000.

There are no articles regarding this issue anywhere on any forum. I have posted everywhere regarding this and no one responded. I actually found this solution for another bug, and it worked for this one. This fixed my issue for 2 of my computers and not for one. The other one disappeared with a driver update. All I can say is it is definitely a ATI specific error, and drove me bananas, because it would always Alt-Tab you out. If this doesn't fix it, the other thing I did, was just leave the first error window open (don't close it), so you don't get Alt-Tabbed out any more. Let me know how it worked for you.

Thats weird, as i've responded to several people about this issue. I had to trouble this issue for the past 6 months when i finally found the answer that fixed it.
I guess a better question is, why hasn't NCSoft fixed this yet?
When i first talked to the head support person they tryed to duplicate it, but couldn't at that time. And as you know a person cann't fix something when it doesn't go wrong for themselfs.

Right now it's an on going process.
i got 3 comps here and my laptop has this error to
be aware that if you swap ati drivers on your laptop it can become really hot and shutdown your laptop all the time.
