Okay...so in C3 my sorc used his Star hatchling to hold agro while he nuked. We were a team, like Chico and the Man. Now, my little Uchuu has 1/3 of his normal hp's and casts spells. I need a new strategy not involving root or wind shackle. Do you have any suggstions?
yup was playing the same combo now you have to tank for the dragon.
I also use the dragon for quest like the wish pot quest where the mobs are blue to me but not to the dragon he gains about .1xp or more /mob you just suport him with you serv heal also be ready to step in with your af and have a bless pet rez handy :p
I know you're not going to be a fan of it, but...the new Wind Hatchling is good for what you used to use a Star for. Lower HP, of course, but significantly better PDef and it now has UD (pretty nice, too). Just have it attack while you start casting, if it gains aggro first you probably won't steal it back before normal, no-HP-multiplier monsters are dead.
As a bonus, if you happen to have lv30 SO buffs, a Wind Hatchling can solo blue-green monsters without any intervention  I left mine killing monsters on one part of the field while I worked another, and he was actually doing a respectable job.
I wasn't impressed with the land rate. It does work now and then, but it's nothing to get excited over. The Wind is a decent DD, so it doesn't need to be tanking for you to be effective, but if you want something different from you then go for a Star.
Star can self-heal, that might be nice if you try to solo it. Not sure how fast it would run out of MP if you did.
Star hatchling or Wind hatchling: truly, if you had one in C3 and leveled it up, you likely did so for its THEN specific skill. But don't let C4 scare you into dumping your baby beastie!!!!!!!!!!! *faint*
*wakes up*
LordVaako HAD about 7800 HP WITH BTB/BTS 6. I'm at work so I can't check right now, but I can assure you THAT'S NO LONGER the case. Am I mad? Not really. :)
So, will I retire my dragon? Um, not a chance in Hell. He has offensive skills now. In C3 he had Hate and that's it. Now he can do damage with Bright Burst and his normal attack, plus self heal. Just hit him wil Empower, Acumen, Zerk....well, all the buffs a mage wants and booyah! Darn, did I mention Beast Soul Shots (aka manna from Heaven *shush Kiranya*)
The next few days I'm hoping to complete the Spectral Dancer class change quest. Since I don't know any of the high-level hunting grounds well (or at all) I won't risk hunting with him there. But he'll soon get a chance to benefit from a Lvl76 BD, and a Lvl 76 Sword Muse!
Moral of this post: Give your baby beastie a chance. You may find that having a second "Mage" around isn't all bad!
I dont know if any1 noticed, but even tho the HP on my wind hatchling were halved, it seems to be able to take a LOT more punishment than before. It used to be like 4 hits, now it can tank like 15 vs the same mobs.
