Yes, this is another newbie post. If this has been answered somewhere else, I don't mind a link to such.
First, I've had the game about 2 weeks now, and I'm still clueless about what class I'd like to play. I come from a MMO background, so i'm not new to the game type at all, just the classes and such here, and how they play out higher end. In EQ, i played a Shaman till 68, and in WoW, i've played Rogue, Druid, Priest and Hunter to 60, druid and rogue being my favs. As you can tell with the shaman and the druid, support healers, buffers, that can take care of themselves seems to be my major style. What I'm looking for is somewhat the equivilant to these types of classes, as i had the most fun with them.
So far in this game, i've gotten a human warrior to level 21 and a DE Mystic to level 16. The warrior, while it seems like fun for beating on things, I'm not sure if it would hold my interest for a main character at the higher levels. The mystic, I get frustrated with her and trying to solo with her, but i do love the fact that i can heal and nuke. I'm also not sure where to end up taking either of these characters in the class changes. I'm also alot more PvE minded than PvP.
So, knowing all this blather about me, what would you recommend? What class(s) in Lineage seem more my type of play?
First of all.. are you kiting mobs with the mystic when you hunt? I've found several people who have come from Wow who stand there trying to cast while the mob is beating on you.
That is really not the "L2 caster" way. Unless of course you are fast enough to kill the mob without needing to kite.
You have so many choices. However... if you are interested in a buffer/healer that can take care of themselves... either a Blade Dancer (warrior) which is a buffing fighter class or perhaps one of the orc mystic classes. Though I hear they are hard too level.
No, I've been kiting. Friend taught me that early on in this game. I also may be trying mobs that i could easily blow thru with my warrior, that i just can't take down yet with my mystic. I may have to just rethink how i play her.
I thought about Blade Dancer, as it tosses in the whole dps aspect as well. Started one, she's only level 11 atm, so i may just stick with that.
I would definitely love more input on the orc mystics if anyone out there has more of a player insight about them.
Orc mystics are probably the only mystics in the game that can actually do support and be adequate damage dealers/soloers as well... having a few offensive magic attacks, a very good drain, an awesome dot, stun attack, good physical stats and survivability - and still decent (OL) or awesome (WC) buffers with a heal-ot... highly recommended ^^
well... from i gather you want to be a support class that can hurt people...
warcryer or overlord are your best bet...
however I have to warn you... THESE ARE TERRIBLE CLASSES AT LOW LVLS!
You wont get all your needed buffs until fairly high lvls... This hurts the party aspects of the two classes... However once you have them you are a great buffer...
WC: Buffs an entire party at once. Has good damage. Has all the needed melee buffs.
OL: Can only buff clan members. They are a beast in pvp. You will need to rely on the love of your clan to lvl though, as their buffs wont help most people.
I love my OL, started a shaman for fun one day, and I haven't rerolled from it yet :) (I characteristically reroll about once a month =/ ) It is a very versitile(sp?) class, I can tank a bit, or go the way of caster...has a bit of everything and I love it that way.
Also which server are you on, starting some buffer characters to help some friends level...could help you if you are on Lionna :)
At your lvl you should be hunting mobs (with the mystic) that you can 2 or 3 shot. that's it.
Also.. mobs that are white or green are better. Too often players will be looking for mobs that give better experience per kill as opposed to better experience over time.
so... if you are getting 600 experience but it takes you twice as long to kill it in comparison to killing 2 mobs that only give you 345 experience, the 345 are better.
This is a grind game.. idea is to blow through them using the least resources needed.
Blade Dancer starts at 40 so you won't experience the type of gameplay that a BD offers until then.
Appreciate the input guys. Definitely making me feel less like a fish out of water in trying to decide. It's also making me want to try and start an orc. *ponderponder*
Again, thanks for the input, love hearing other's opinions about their classes, especially since i'm so clueless about classes at this point.
Thanks for the mystic advice, Sov, will definitely use those tips. :)
