Hey guys, I just want to know your positions on this matter.
Say you lend something to a friend (A set of duals or whatever), and while your friend has your equipment, he does something (that you have no affiliation in) and he gets banned.
Is it right that you lose your equipment out of this deal? According to NCSOFT it is your fault for lending your friend the equipment, which I can understand.
However, how can you be responsible for what your friend does? Sure I lent him some duals, but did i know that he wasn't going to obay the user agreement somehow? Personally, if a close clannie asked you to borrow something for a couple days, who wouldn't lend it to him if he really needed it. But say he gets banned while he is using something of yours, then you end up getting screwed out of the deal?
Does that sound right?
I can understand how NCSOFT would never believe you if you said "Oh, that guy you just banned... well thats all my equipment, could i please have it back". But if that is the case, maybe we should all stop being such good friends because we'll end up getting screwed in the end.
I think NCSoft's position that all the gear gets banned with the account is appropriate. I'm sorry for anyone who unknowingly loses stuff for this. But otherwise everyone who's ever banned will have their gear preserved and passed on.
I understand your dilemma, but don't really sympathize with it. First, and probably foremost, L2 doesn't recognize any sort of "lending"--once you give something to someone, it's theirs forever as far as the game (and GM's) are concerned. More basic, however, is the adage: don't lend anything to anyone you can't punch in the nose.
Of course, if you run into that situation and are following the adage, feel free to carry it through to its logical conclusion.
Yeah thats exactly right. A guy could just restart an account and still get all his equipment back. I agree with you on that.
Well then, I guess those are the downsides to having friends. Just like having a girlfriend costs money and time.. Having friends on lineage2 will cost you your equipment.

The cold hard truth is that possession is 10/10ths of the law in L2. It was *not* your gear. It was his.

Thanks.
Uh no...
that is the downside for having "friends" who do questionable things while your equipment is in their possession. A "real" friend would never take the chance of doing something that "might" get him/her banned while your equipment is in their possession because they want to avoid the exact predicament you are in.
Quite frankly you were beyond nice in lending your equipment, and perhaps in some ways you were the "truer" friend.
Your gear is your responsibility. Part of that is being responsible in who you lend it to (if you trust anyone enough to lend it to them at all). I lend out my gear but really only to people I either know in real life, or have trusted me enough to lend me their gear at some point or another. Who you lend to is up to you but the posession system in Lineage is quite realistic. Anytime you give anything to anyone, you should know that there is a chance that you will never posess it again. Unfortunately, it can at times be harsh to good natured people who believe that the world is full of good people. I'm sorry you lost your items. If your friend ends up getting a new account, perhaps they will find you a way of paying you back.
gotta agree with that if you lend gear just assume you will never see it again
what about all those banned bot accounts that could just hand their equipment to the next account they open?
