Can we have names of toons and mobs show up on the ingame recorder? It's more fun watching a pvp video when you can see who got owned instead of just some random toons. Also with so many mobs looking alike, it would be nice to see mob names so we can see what mob that was actually killed. Of course there's a few boss mobs that can't be mistaken for another mob. Anyway, names on the videos would be nice. Nothing like having a video of someone sneaking up on on another for a fast pk then you can show it to your friends or just rub it in someone else's face. Until names show in the ingame recorder then I think fraps will still be nice because you can see who's owning who.
The ingame recorder is an excellent and unique addition in the mmorpg genre. This method of lag free recording of all your favourite moments with next to no HDD usage is unbeatable.
It's one of those things that can make people decide that this is the game for them, just another great feature that once you start using is hard to do without.
However, for it to be seen in all the light it deserves it needs more configuration options. Due to the nature of the way it records, configuration is extremely easy for the developers to add.
Options for adding names, tags, chat, party bars etc. and allowing people to playback the recording at varying speeds, both backwards and forwards are all easy additions that make this feature supreme.
It would then become an excellent selling point, and yet another draw to the game for those without it.
Let's not forget most people do not run high end machines that can handle Fraps for 2hours during an intensive siege.
This feature already allows everyone to play low detail for speed in PvP and then play it back at high detail when any possible lag no longer matters as it is a replay.
If NC can expand on this feature it would truely be good for everyone.
Well, it seems the L2 videos lag for the viewer, if you don't have a super-duper computer, while fraps lag if the person who recoded it doesn't have a super-duper computer (thinking of sieges/raids/videos with lots of people)
Makes sense, I guess.
BTW, it wasn't a complaint, I was just pointing it out. I watched a Baium raid in the new L2 replay utility, and I got as much lag as I would have gotten, had I been there myself.
As a summoner I've watched my lil attempt to test this replay function.
It's utterly useless for summoners: I just saw me, 2 shotting mobs and spending most of the time waiting for.. nothing, between 2 mobs who all happened to die for no reasons. An absolute horror, funny to watch but pointless to use. I mean not only our Servitor doesn't appear, not only the Cubic is invisible.. but I can't even see my Servitor buff/heal animations...
Silly... but hey, I'm used to such silly situations (clan hall buff, alliance buff, sin eater, C cryst costs.. )
