Just reactivated my account and I read somewhere there was a reduction in Xp loss.Does this apply in only seiges or in general hunting when pked.Good to be back as well,I see Sovrath is still around :)
There is no reduction in xp loss. I think the xp loss for higher lvl players is less than lower lvl players and of course there is only 1% xp loss from sieges but otherwise it is business as usual.
Welcome back. ;)
edit: yeah... I'm still here... clawing my way toward 75 and my subclass which I will be very thankful for since I've been nuking since lvl 1

In percent, yes. In actual xp lost, more
But you knew that :)
Nay, lady. The Sovrath does not die.
lol.. Sir E. is actually correct... sort of.
I rarely die.
I did however die twice since C4 came out.
First time I learned that BSOE Clan Hall does not work like regular SOE clan hall... clicking that thing until my finger almost broke.
Second time?
I have been in the new haunted forest area... apparently at night you can get a spawn of ghost mobs that suddenly appear around you... surrounding you.. when you are very ver low on mp and have been B2M your head off to squeeze every last drop of lvling out of you.
yeah... wow... I die ATLEAST 3 times a day... ususally closer to 5 or 6... I was actually considering starting a bishop and boxing that instead of my SE...
Where exp loss has been reduced is in relation to clan wars. Now if you declare war on another clan then your members will only take 1% exp loss for deaths due to the clan war. Mob and pk (outside of clan war) are still the normal exp loss (like 10% prior to first class change think about 6% before second class change and 4% after second class change).
Clan wars were not used much before but now are a safety net of sorts. If a clan declares war on your clan you would be stupid not to accept. If you dont accept then their clan takes 1% and yours takes normal exp losses...but if you accept the war then your clan will only lose 1% from deaths related to the war.
So if you have a clan that is constantly pking your members its in your best intrest to declare war on them to reduce your members exp loss. If they accept then both sides only deal with 1% if they are stupid and dont accept then they take full exp loss while your clan only takes 1%.

How do they differ? I haven't used one.

Actually it's not a spawn, it's a teleport. It's also seen in Valley of Saints, and possibly other new areas. Certain aggro/social mobs now have a sort of tele-aggro and tele-social.
Basically they have a small probability of, even at extended ranges (600-900 range), teleporting into melee with you and attacking. Oddly enough I've even had non-social/non-aggro mobs tele-social onto me...
Luckily due to the low chance of occurance it's usually only one mob at a time and not very often. But we you get "lucky" and have several tele onto you at once...it can make for a bad day.
Oh god no... not ever. Chances of dying and dropping something expensive is too great.
I actuall think of CDL as a last gasp attack to try to overwhelm your opponent. It makes my bowels weak to hear about people running around with 140 hit points and gathering aggro.

The SOE Clan hall, if used, will bring you back to town if you don't have a clan hall.
The BSOE Clan Hall will cause yoru finger to break off and much colorful language to ensue when you realize that you might as well have put a pice of coal in your quick bar.
I have seen the teleporting thing in the Haunted Forest... sort of neat.
However.. at night there are these mobs that fade in slowly, in a circle, and then fade out. You can just watch them do it. It means that the field you are fighting on can be empty one minute and then you are surrounded the next.
So, when night comes I move to this cool beach area and just hit the closest part of the circle so I don't get surrounded.
Yea on my SH I rarely use CDL. Sometimes if bored will play with it in group but usually drives the healers nuts seeing me that low on health and they heal me.
About only time I will use it is against raid bosses. Will use up my MP on huricanes till low...then BTM to rebuild mp and start using CDL from that point on. Dangerous since you hit the raid boss pretty hard but thats what the lucky charms are for. Gotten nailed pretty hard by a few raid bosses doing that so now when I do raid bosses I get a couple lucky charms in case....but get 3 or more SH all doing CDL on a raid boss and boy they drop quickly its just very risky to do. Usually figure if I get to the point of spamming CDL that I am going to die so want to do as much dmg as I can before then.
Sov,since your here,Ijust rolled a De mystic going SH and this is a new account any tips please?
uh... well.. let's see...
At lower lvls only hunt greens or whites.. .essentially mobs you can 2 or 3 hit. I actually didn't use shots at all until D grade and then only regular (so I 3 shot mobs... I've since learned that the 2 shot is the "zone").
If you are actually going SH don't wast sp on summons once you hit D grade unless you really want to play around with them. Otherwise you don't use them.
Same with poison funny enough. You used to be able to poison a lot of mobs and just keep poisoning them as they spawned. I just don't see mobs that you can do this with anymore. If you find some slow mobs then sure.
Don't get the Mithril set. Get the Knowledge and take off the gloves when you rest.
Always upgrade your weapon first.
You will learn to love body to mind.
I would say, as you hit questions either pm me or ask a friend ingame as there is so much.
If you've never played a dark elf before know that DEV has a lot of great quests such as the fungus quest (vollodos) the zombie quest (woman next to vollodos.. also.. the zombies are magic resistant so know that before hand.. having good jewels, for ng, should help).
There is also the spider sac quest that you can get from the guy outside of the store where vollodos is.
In any case, feel free to pm as you get questions.
Under level 40 you lose 8% of your current level on death.
Above level 40 you lose 4% of your current level on death.
Note that both of these values can appear to be more % lost if you delevel as the level you are deleveling into requires less XP it will seem as though you have lost a greater % when infact it is still 4% of the level you were at on the time of death.
Sieges and Clan War's cause exception to these rules and under the right circumstances allow a 1% loss upon death.
The XP loss in this game may appear harsh initially but it's merely a way of forcing teamplay with Bishops and Elven Elders who have the power to recover almost all that you might lose on a death.
This game is, in part, but not wholly as some people would claim, pvp based.
Any game which has open PvP MUST have some kind of penalty built-in for death. So that when people get out of hand, and others come to enforce the "law" that that person is INDEED punished.
The Red system, however unpopular, and in some case ineffective, and other cases too harsh, is the flipside of this coin. There must be a penalty built in for rampant pking.
There have actually been full phsycological studies on the effects of open PvP on gameplay in MMOs, and the result is that if people can kill people without penalty EVEN IF THERE IS NOT A REWARD, they will do it. Wether this in-game virtual truth says anything about out-of-game human morals or psychology in general remains to be seen...but in-game that's how it is.
There has to be punishment and penalty, or the game WILL devolve into chaos.
What he described in the new haunted forest area is not the mobs teleporting. That area has a different set of mobs for ingame night and day. If I remember correctly from the pts, what Sovrath described was the night mobs spawning.

Do you have any link, or any source info for these, cause it seems really interesting to read about.
