I was just looking at the castle control and noticed that there's no link from Aden to Goddard. Does this mean Goddard is independent of the taxes from Aden castle? Then this would make Goddard a separate kingdom and maybe in the future it will control Rune? Just curious.
Might be, or then they've yet to implement it. But I'd go for the Goddard is not part of Aden theory since there's those border stations and all when you run from Aden to Goddard. Now then, if there is a borded it implies that they are 2 different nations entirely.
Goddard and Rune are part of Elmore, which is different kingdom. If you look on Elmore part of map you will see two blank areas between orc and dwarf lands. I believe we'll see at least two new castles there along with their towns. Oh. and that small island west of Rune will *definitely* hold a castle in future (when the bridge is fixed)

Correct. Elmore is a different kingdom, and is taxed separately from Aden. If you go up to a shopkeeper in Rune or Goddard and ask to see the tax information, it says, "Kingdom of Elmore" instead of "Kingdom of Aden". (or something like that :p ) Hurray! Now we can buy goods tax free...for a little while, at least :p They sell (second to) top D gear there....

Until this weekend is over then the castle owner will max out the taxes again.

What's Goddard's markup rate? You might be paying more than Giran's taxed price ;)

Even if the markup is 10%, and 15% taxes on top of that, it's still less than 5+15+15% :p
I think there's a little misunderstanding about how Aden taxes work...it taxes Aden Town, Hunter's Village, and other castles. It does not tax every city in the nation of Aden directly. The tax from Aden Castle to Giran Castle is a deduction from Giran's tax profit, not an increase in the cost to the buyer.
An example might help. Let's say an item had a base price of 1M. You're buying it in Giran. The city of Giran has a 10% markup. Giran Castle's tax is set to 15%. Aden Castle's tax is set to 15%.
You pay 1.25M.
100k is lost to the markup.
Giran Castle gets 127500a in taxes. (85% of 150k)
Aden Castle gets 22500a in taxes. (15% of 150k)
Thus, the buyer need only concern himself with the markup and the tax from the local castle lord. The Aden tax is between the lord of the castle and the king of Aden.
That's how I understood it, but feel free to prove me wrong :)
All you would need to do is post how much a SoR costs in Giran, what the castle tax is, and what the Aden tax is. Right now, I can only check my own server, which doesn't give a basis for comparison (although it does agree with my projection).
