Opinions on new PVP system.

Ok, I don't mind the flagging system in pvp now, but I have found many more glitches and problems with it.

Firstly - Assisting seems to be glitched so that even if at two way war you hold CTRL and right click to assist you will not attack the target or sometimes not even target it for ages.

Secondly - Holding CTRL to attack all the time is totally lame, especially for those who use the F keys to hit CP / Heal pots and skills. My fingers are big, but not that big to spread all over the keyboard to play a **** game. VERY clumsy IMO and totally ruins the fluidity of the gameplay. Force attack macros people say? Great, if you want all your bars to be green so you forget which skills are wich, or attack friendly people. Even worse for those who have one bar for pvp and pve, making them attack party members in pve. I personally find it much easier to look at skill symbols to tell which ones to use rather than all green icons.

Thirdly - Now enemies have to be constaltly re-attacked as you will hit them for a hit or two and then have to re-hit them. If a dagger uses a skill he will stop hitting or say a dwarf stuns it will stop hitting.
This also brings with it the moving target glitch where melee won't be able to hit even a walking / slowed nuker untill they stop and all skills will say "target is too far" as the target is moving.

These all hapen too often in even Two-way wars. I had a dwarf and my silenced OL chasing after a walking nuker who we couldn't hit or stun because we were told the target was too far even though we were right next to her.

Thanks alot for making the pvp system the clumsiest ever... oh wait it's not much different for nuykers / archers......
...another reason not to play melee.
Modified keyboard with one of the control keys wired to a foot pedal. When you need to push control just push the foot pedal and it leaves your hands free. Go bug your radio shack people or find EE (not elven elder).
I just want to have Alt Gr back. Remember when it used work like a held down ctrl key? Good times.
My thoughts exactly. Holding down control during pvp on people that have flaged is lame. My way around that is to hold down the control key with a tooth pick or a piece of a straw.

Also, if you are going to PvP you really need a PvP bar. I have a PvP Bar, Buff Bar, PvE Bar, and Various Useage Bar.

Make it like it was in C3 on the PvP flagged player attack thingy.
I say 2 way wars should use exactly the same system as C3 exept you flag when you attck. How hard would that be to implement?

The movement glitch is aweful for melee and the CTRL system is severely clumsy.

as for the pvp / pve bars I have one bar for all as we pvp daily so switching can be a nightmare. In fast pvp you need to be ready whenever.
Agree's with OP. I think we need just one button to toggle pvp on/off. So that if we activate it on we attack all targets without need of the baby features to hold down the control key. This would keep things in oder so when grinding with friends you dont hit them by mistake.
We need a PvP toggle switch, it's a very simple thing the developers could add and is one of the single best ideas for the game right now.

If you don't want to accidentally kill someone, keep the toggle off... if you want the protection ctrl gives you over such accidents, keep the toggle off..

If you see an enemy and want to engage you hit your toggle and off you go PvPing without having to keep an additional key held down.

There is no drawback to adding a toggle.
The pvp toggle is a good Idea, but will still retain the melee problems wich stop them attacking a moving player (even walking) with skills and forces them to repeatedly have to click to attack the target.

I say use the same system that was used in C3 for not having to CTRL attack flagged or two way warred players and simply making players that attack in war flag.
For example, player A is at two way war with player B, he attacks player B without having to hold control and flags. Now any player who goes to click on player A will be able to attack him without holding CTRL as he is flagged, unless they are in party / alliance with player A.

The system worked fine before, why should it be changed now?

My thoughts exactly. Holding down control during pvp on people that have flaged is lame.

Once they flag back, you don't need to hold down ctrl.
it appears that you do now.
Yeah it's lame...

...but as always, the solution is a nostromo speedpad. Force-attack is easy, and you don't have to have ugly green macro-icons on your hotbar - but your actualy skill icons... it works. In fact, I run with constant force attack these days - the inherent easiness to hit on pvp targets makes it a preference of mine, and the risk for friendly fire, or buff a mob, is negliable to me. Just be cautious... :)

(who needs the safety on anyway!)
Get a mouse with a button on the side. I have a Logitech and a MS one like that. In the mouse setup program you can tell the side button to be the ctrl button. Then when you want to pvp just hang onto the side button with your thumb.

You can still use the other mouse buttons normally and your other hand is free for the F keys.

um.
how about they make it so you dont flag in a 2 way war? As ive said in a previous post, it just invites outside trouble and is a horrible addition, gg.
My question is what was wrong with the old war/pvp system that they felt it needed changing? IMO they finally had it all figured out in C3 and then they went and messed it up.
Was there anything wrong with the old system? No

Is holding ctrl a big deal? No.

I mean seriously.. how can u not hold control and use skills at the same time...

and if your complaint is you can't reach f5 through f12... well... you can try this setup (I've done it for a bit... haven't mastered it yet but it seems to be working.)

Hot bar 1:
DeathSpike
Gloom
Sleep
Drain HP

Hotbar 2:
Deathspike
gloom
anchor
silence

Hotbar 3:
Deathspike
gloom
sleep
transferpain

Then what you do is rest the palm of your hand on Ctrl. place 3 fingers over f1 through f4, and keep your thumb resting on alt. You can then switch between hotbars 1-4 quite quickly (alt+f3 gives u hotbar 3). I have my main spells (deathspike gloom) always in the same place, so I can hit them fast no matter what hot bar (less mistakes). but even with that it gives u quick acces to 8 others skills real quick... practice it in the arena until you learn to use it.

People who say pvp takes no skill have never truly pvped.

how did you do this if I may ask. I had made it so that when the red button was pressed it held down the ctrl. However... then I tried to speak and couldn't figure out why nothgin was being "printed" on the screen.

I figured there had to be another way.

With the nostromo, you can set it so pressing a key is like a toggle. I have button 15 set as 'ctrl'. Press it once, ctrl goes down. Press it again, it comes up. Easy!

Or, like I"ve also done, get a mouse (such as the logitech 518 optical gaming mouse) and make one of the buttons (mouse 5 on mine) be bound to ctrl.

As an aside, once someone's flagged, control is no longer needed. :)

PS, I LOVE THIS NEW SYSTEM!! Practically all of my important skills were non-forceable on enemies. Since we've declared war against almost everyone on the server, that's no longer an issue. :D

I was just thinking of putting my Razor game mouse back on my computer. Now seems like a good time.
Worst and stupiest additionn to C4. There's no reason war tags should have to hold control to attack each other.

It's hard to do, usually causes people to lag and attack their own side, and is totally uneccessary to fix the problem they thought they were addressing which was not being able to see enemy buy/sell shops and forcing players purple in fights so outside healers turned purple.

The only thing they should have done, and still should do, is make it so you go purple when attacking a war tag. No control attack needed. They can also easily make it so you can look at war tagged buy/sell shops, or cripes, use an alt to buy, like we did for 3 other chrocnicles. No big deal.

There's also a huge problems and bugs with AOE attacks from Destroyer and Warlord classes. Like they needed to make both of these weak classes even worse.

Ok.. that's sort of what I have too.. I just need to remember to take it off. I thought there was some more complex programming that might have been used.. thx.
I don't see why the heck people should have to buy new equipment, software or struggle over the keyboard which is not really popssible for all people just because NC have broken a perfectly working system.

The fact is that the war system used to work fine, now they've changed it so that it is clumsy and a real pain to use. Thus making the game far worse for it.
I still don't see the big problem. It's just like flagging PVP now. EXACTLY like it, except you can use your non-force skills on enemies.

PS: Once they're flagged, you don't have to hold ctrl down anymore! If they're not fighting back, what's the problem with having to hold down ctrl?

actually there is. scine you now flag when you attack a wartaged you might not want to flag in the middle of other ppl when theres only 1 wartagged with several other friendlies to your wartaged. so that you need to hold down ctrl is sort of safety that you wont flag unless you really want to.

but i do agree that the forceattack "lock" with "alt gr" button that used to be in C1 (and c2?) should be implemented again.

so, there's no problem? no one's having a problem? the wth is there so many post about it?

Go to the back of the line.
