Suggestion: PK clean slate

Game Suggestions Started Last reply 32 posts
Now aden and elmore are two seperat lands divided by border outposts. They do not follow the same king. I think that it would be nice if Karma and PK count did not transfer from kingdom to kindom.

This could be done by changing it to:

PK Aden: 12
PK Elmore: 0

Karma Aden: 3500
Karma Elmore: 0

In the above example, if the player died in aden it would be treated as a death with 12 pks and 3500 karma, but if the player died in elmore he would only drop as if he had 0 pks and 0 karma.

This could be a nice feature. If a clan pked another clan in FG they could run N to elmore, where they could wait until the other clan dispersed. Of course they would have to fight the aden border patrol to get in, but it could be a nice addition to the game.

This in NO way will add additional pkers in starter towns. Afterall how many people do you think could run from Elven village to elmore without dieing.

Anyway that's just my pk suggestion of the week.

/edit: Idea changed a little. All karma received in Aden and PKs in aden must be worked off there. (including sin eaters) Thus truely spliting Aden and Elmore karma/pks.

what do you have against it? what would it hurt?
So you want to PK to your heart's content in newb-lands and then be unfettered by them when you get back to "the big boys"?

No.
This is an ok idea imo except for this bit:

This could be a nice feature. If a clan pked another clan in FG they could run N to elmore to work of the karma in peace

You should not be allowed to work off Karma gained in one country by running to another country. So if you went red in Aden you will be red in Aden until you work off your Karma -in Aden-.

So you want to PK to your heart's content in newb-lands and then be unfettered by them when you get back to "the big boys"?

No.

No... I want the laws of the two lands to be seperate... A crime in one doesn't have to equal a crim int the other...

Have you ever been in a clan war? Have you ever been red in FG/BS/DC?

This is hardly a practicle thing for some lvl 50 pking in AC. He would never make it to elmore a live... also there would be the border guard to contend with, and I imagine high lvls would hang out at the border patrol stations to gank reds...

I think it would be a fun addition to the game... Something like in the western movies... rob a bank and high tail it to mexico. It would be fun, and I hardly see it hurting anything.
I think this would be a bad idea, however I will only add this suggestion to the original post: you can only work off the karma/PK for a kingdom with that kingdom. Why would Elmore care if you've been a good citizen in Aden any more than they care if you're a wanted criminal there? The inconsistency doesn't help your case ;)
While I don't think that such a system in regards to karma should exist, I do think it would be a little interesting if your clan/alliance could declare a side (much like Dusk/Dawn) between Aden and Elmore, and have a bit of "realm vs. realm" mechanic in PvP. However, I don't know how feasible this is in regards to L2's back-story, mythos, etc.

This is an ok idea imo except for this bit:

You are right. The karma should have to be worked off in aden. It goes much better with the idea than working it off in elmore. I will edit my post to reflect this. :)

Any further ideas are welcome. :)

I edited it already :)

I like this.

Deal with the consequences of your actions, Grieferboy.

Quoted and bolded for the points you seem to have conveniently skipped over despite my brevity.

and in the now edited version if you return to aden you once again have karma/pk points as they can no longer be worked off in elmore... hence you do have to deal with the consequences...

anyother complaints?
With that change, I think the idea at least has potential. I would like it with one major addition: in reality, a mass murderer couldn't merely "hop the border" and expect the receiving country to do nothing. Odds are, people would be looking for him, and the receiving country might consider some crimes just too major for them to look the other way...

I'd love to see...

Foreign Agents: fairly strong NPC's that are randomly, but very sparsely, spawned in the country opposite to their allegiance. They should also randomly respawn on an hourly basis. There might only be a dozen Elmore agents across the entirety of Aden, but you should never truly feel safe.
These are the best of the best that a country had to offer, specially trained and very deadly. Running into one should be a close fight for a decent-sized party. Facing an agent one-on-one should be a breath away from suicide.

Thus, "skipping the country" allows you to interact with NPC's again, but you always have to be looking over your shoulder for the "CIA"...and if they ever catch you, it's all over...

Mass Murders / Crimes Against Humanity: If your PK count exceeds a certain number (5 sounds good), your crimes are too horrific to ignore. While you are not as wanted in foreign countries, you still have an international reputation for wanton homicide. In effect, if your PK count goes too high in Aden, part of it counts in Elmore too--for example, if you had a PK count of 7 in Aden, you would have 2 of that carry over to Elmore. Also, all karma gained after that point will add equally to their rating in both countries (but also be subtracted equally).

This would give people who go a little too far (over 5 but under 11) the opportunity to lower their PK count in a foreign land, then come back to try to "set things right" in their homeland as well...but also mean that, if your crimes are just too much to ignore, they won't be left behind.
I like the agent idea... I think towns should still be safe from them though, but by all means spawn them in the countryside...

as to crimes of great number... 5 I think is too low a number. It is fine for the no drop rule, but it is quite easy to get over 5pks real fast. I was at 0 pks and had 8 in under 60 sec once... maybe make the number 20 as it is hard to get 20 pks without time inbetween. But 5 is just too low.

P.S. The 8 were in a PK war. Not random griefing...
I dunno...5 is basically killing a whole family...I know 10 in most countries will make international press, anything more than that is really just giving freebies.

Edit: adding...

I like the agent idea... I think towns should still be safe from them though, but by all means spawn them in the countryside...

Nah, they should be able to show up anywhere without warning. Naturally, however, they should ignore anyone in town in shop mode.

lol... well... when you are fighting 6 parties and you only have 3.5... (as was my situation) you tend to end up with a lot of pks fast... especially if they ONLY target reds... and most don't actually flag...
Ok, so.... random lownie griefer A... let's call him Grieferboy, decides it is high comedy to hang around Gludin, Dion, EV, AC, OB, maybe even Giran PKing people and behaving like a general assnugget.

His clan owns a hall in, oh, let's say, Goddard. Grieferboy has escape to hardins soes, lands bright red goes about griefing or killing his "war targets" or whatever lofty deeds have him turning crimson in Aden. Then *poof* clan hall soe, back in Elmore safe and sound, no karma, he can xp, shop and do everything non-chaotic players can do.

Yeah.

Even if I liked the idea, it's too complicated.

I can see me sitting in my clan hall for hours trying to figure out where I have to go to work off karma, and figuring out if i can get there.

But then again, I'm an SE, I don't get many pks. People get bored and fight back.
No don't like it. If anything make penalites for going red even more severe. Going red shouldnt be something you do for kicks and giggles (I understand sometimes you have to pk or do it accidentally or just had a really bad day) if you do then let your head be the price...make it Perma Death if you have XX amount of pks.

But another twist in your PVP fantasy.. Elmore and Aden are at war. If you go red killing Aden citizens then that could reduce Elmore Karma and vise versa. PK in aden to reduce Elmore karma, pk in Elmore to reduce Aden karma.

But as said before No to the whole theme.

Yes they could. They could not return to Aden without regaining their karma though. This means they can't siege most of the castles. THey can't do Aden quests. They can't directly shop in giran. There are still punishments in place.

As to this name calling... I find it quite funny that you, a person who is quick to call somebody childish, acts in such childish behavior. It is quite pathetic really.
Namecalling? pffft. For someone who is Red so often you seem a bit fragile.

You have openly championed the cause of the PK and the griefer on these boards. But really, I am a caring gentle guy. If the name Grieferboy hurts your feelings I'll gladly refrain.

I can tell from the way you espouse playing the game, the feelings of others is high on your priority list. I'll be sure to return the consideration.

ps. I doubt I'm "quick" to call someone childish, however I have been known to see the error of my ways when shown them. Please provide an example of such quick judgement so that I might strive to better myself.

Have a great day.

Still /unsigned for the on-topic reasons I provided before the conversation took a different (and if I didn't know better, I'd suspect diversionary) turn.

I thank you for your consideration. It was not that the names offended me, but that it came from you. A person who has repeatedly looked down on others should never step down to their level. For if they do they will see eye to eye, and we could never have you agreeing with me.

I have championed pkers. I do so without apology and without shame. I am red a lot. I have done the sin eater quest this past month more times than most will do it in their L2 career. I am niether ashamed nor proud of this. This is how I play, and I would like to see changes to accomodate this type of playstyle.
You'll have to pardon those of us who recognize your efforts to adjust the game to meet your playstyle and voice our disagreement with methods to remove the intended penalties for that playstyle.

Play victim if it suits you and cast me in any light that may aid in sympathy to your cause. It doesn't strengthen your case. I refer you back to the griefing opportunities highlighted in my example above.

I hope you have a great day.

Okay, now that made me laugh.

As long as we're making Aden and Elmore completely separate, make it so that chat doesn't not extend between the two either. Or friendlist or any notifications of friends or clanmates signing on. No communication whatsoever.

Still hate this idea. EQ's got this right. It's merely another griefing too.
Karma is universal
Elmore is part of Aden anyways... When we get rid of those pesky orcs and deal with those treacherous over charging good for nothing dwarves; the Kingdom shall be cleansed!

*Was RPed for those quick to spray flames of disgust* :p

Satan want to gank up on God
wow a god argument? well de bow to shilien so if they kill a light elf, their karma should decrease because their god would be happy. and dwarves are godless and don't even have souls (darkcop can vouch for this), so they should have no karma. Ligh elves are a lot like EQ and all high and mighty, so they should gain karma if they don't say please and thank you. Orcs aren't intelligent enough to know what karma is, so they don't have karma either. Humans worship the wrong god, so they should all have perma karma.

There... we can base karma off the god system then... but I'm rerolling an orc.
