I do wish I could sell stuff while im out grinding but I dont like the idea of something staying ingame when you disconnect for an undetermined amount of time. If you think giran is crouded now it would be just ugly if this was implemented.
Plus everyone has already found a way around this. Its called AFK selling while you sleep. For me it works pretty good except for the times it disconnects right after I go to bed.

AFK selling while sleeping can be quite dangerous. I would
not recommend anyone leaving their computer online.
Leaving your computer online and all alone doesn't make him
feel unwanted, but can be really ugly if it starts to burn and
you find yourself in a warm and coudly room, just because
it's on fire. Not to mention the extra costs on electricity...
I really really would like to see a 'offline sales' system.

Okay stop what your smoking is really that bad.....and computers dont use that much electricity
Okay stop what your smoking is really that bad.....and computers dont use that much electricity
Yeah sure, I stopped smoking right after my PC burned my Desk
and half of the clothes in my closet...
So actually tell me, how much electricity do they use?
With having 2 Computer doing the afk-shop-thing for a year
we had to pay an extra 250$, which for me is not that funny.
lol, the average computer uses like $30.00 a year in electricity costs. Google average household utility electrical costs.
Turn your computer off.
You could be spending well over £100 per year on electricity by always leaving your computer on! Turn it off when it's not in use.
A typical desktop computer uses about 65 to 150 watts.
let's just say while "afk-shopping" it uses like 90 Watts.
90 Watts * 16 hours (sleep + work) * 365 (every day) / 1000 = 525,6 kWh
In January 1998, the national average was 8.3 cents/kWh.
So this will turn out to be 526,5 kWh * 8.3 cents/kWh = 4362,48 cents
that's like 43,50 $ for an average AMERICAN afk-shopper.
If you are willing to throw away 44$ plz send them to my paypal
and I will happily accept this, after they implemented an offline-
sell-system...
In 2003 the average price for 1 kWh was 13,61 Euro-Cent each.
What leads to a price of 71,65 Euros, which is about 85 US $.
Now two PCs which are online about 16 hours longer each day
meaning an average increase of 170 US $ for afk shopping...
So much talking about "cheap prices" and with the average not
applying for everyone and some even got higher prices...
Yeah, it is a lot of money and I don't want to have to spend it,
just to make more profit ingame.
If I'd just have used the 250 Euros last year for doing some illegal
stuff with them I'd be able to make a lot more Adena then I made
with my little afk-shops...
The biggest electricity drain on your machine is the screen.
Your sources don't state whether or not the statistics include the screen, as far as I can see - having the screen and all other noteworthy peripheral drains off makes a huge difference.
Having an older or newer computer also makes a big difference - it's quite possible to build a machine for low consumption.
So you would advise that I invest something like about 500$ to get
a low energy PC so I can keep my costs low?
They don't include the screen, as you can ready by the bold text
in about the middle of the site, stating something like "If you use
a TFT add XXX ..."
Well anyway, would it hurt to have an offline shopping system?
May it be an Auction House, or somethings like "Trading Summons"
both would make the game easier for those not willing to keep
their machines up 24/7 just to be able to use the shopping features.
Also, if you know much about computer care and maintenance, leaving your computer running is better for the computer. Startup is the most stressful time for a computer as all the motors have to work extra to get everything spinning again.
However...I'd like to be able to defrag at night or something, rather than afk stores at night, especially since the peak hours are when the best store setup times are and I'd rather be playing during those times.
I'm still down for the idea of an NPC consignment store. ^^
Or a shop-summon.
Or an auction house.
but if any of these ARE implemented, I think we should keep the option to AFK sell as well. And to keep it a viable option, all the others should cost some kind of money. Consignment/Auction would cost a tax/%fee, and the summon would cost crystals I'm guessing.
You could even have the NPC sell shop work like a pet. Go to a consigment NPC and buy a "seller agent" pet. The pet would have a special skill that lets them set up as a buy/sell shop.

Only usable by dwarfs, and the number of sell/buy slots is determined by level. Level 45 = 2 slots, level 52 = 3 slots, level 62 = 4 slots, and level 7x = 5 slots.
Just an idea, but only dwarfs should get this function. Why only dwarfs? The BountyHunter and Warsmith's skills revolve around aquiring goods and manufactoring items - those two classes revolve around buying and selling. Other classes have no skills that directly relate to causing the need for setting up stores.

How about weapon mastery or armor mastery? Those skill directly result in me needing to buy some **** gear, which directly results in me eventually needing to set up a sell shop to be able to afford gear.
Every character needs to be able to buy and sell. If this feature was added, I'd say make it so that dwarves could set up more than one at a time, based on level, where normal players could only have 1 active at a time.
Or just give dwarves' summoned shops more buy/sell slots like the current system.
Or something like that. But don't make the rest of us suffer through AFk shopping if you don't have to any more. The only thing that would do is make everyone roll a dwarf alt...most people already do anyway...but if this happened EVERYONE would basically HAVE TO. :(
When I can beat a dwarf in PvP you get to say you don't have sufficient battle skills, fair, no? :p
Seriously though, even skipping the debate over whether or not dwarves are gimp, and if gimp, to what degree, why would you want to gimp every other class, rather than create balance?
I didn't say "need". It's not like, as you pointed out, they can't fight either. The fact is that they were cut short on battle skills specifically in order to acquire commerce skills - and thus specific commerce-related skills should stay their domain.
And no, don't bring your nerfed class into this: It was nerfed because it was considered too powerful in comparison to other fighters. If you lose to a dwarf, it's not because something is wrong with the dwarven classes, but because NCSoft did something wrong with your class.
Ok, then how about going with a class that everyone considers overpowered, archers or nukers? I've seen dwarves kill archers, and I've seen lucky dwarves kill nukers.
Dwarves are not gimp in PvP/E. They don't have all the specialty fighter skills like other classes, but their raw stat balance pretty much makes up for it.
Besides which, adding in a shop summon/pet/NPC and only allow it's use to dwarves wouldn't just be making dwarves a bit better at commerce than other characters, it would be basically making them the only characters ABLE to do commerce.
Why not just make dwarv summon/pet/NPC shops BETTER than other peoples? I.E: multiple shops/more shop slots, like it is now?
Seriously how fair would it be if ONLY dwarves could set up AFK shops now? As it is everyone can, dwarf shops are just bigger.
I'm in favor of being able to setup a buy/sell shop and then have a logout option where the shop will remain up while I'm offline.
Opening a private shop is a skill everyone already has so it avoids the whole 'dwarves should have this' debate.
As far as electricity is concerned, yeah it can possibly save some electricity and some hours on the life of the power supply but I don't think that's a major concern for the general playerbase.
Why is this a great benefit to all players?
Concurrent Connections
The servers can handle a limited number of concurrent connections and this is why so many of the servers say 'full'.
With this option, more active players could connect to the server of their choice when they want because most of the shops would be running in offline mode.
Praytell, then, if dwarves are not gimped in PvE/PvP, why must bounty hunters share their spoils in PvE groups? Why do warsmiths not even get them outside of a clan, or friends, or people trying to mooch a favour?
I'm all in favour of a log-off option, but a shop left in town while levelling for anyone but possibly dwarves just irks me.

I dunno, why do I have to share my DD with PvE groups? Lord knows when I stab stuff and it dies it drops stuff...so I should get 100% of the stuff cuz the group wasn't helping me or anything, right?
Why do warsmiths not even get them outside of a clan, or friends, or people trying to mooch a favour?
I dunno, how come you don't group them? I do.

Meh, lots of things will irk you, in life. You should learn to cope.
No, the group did help you. The whole point is that a BH who is just contributing his DD to the group (i.e. not paying extra) will not find a group on most servers. Same for warsmiths.
I do group, but just look around a little - there are very very few dwarf mains, for a good reason.
And yes, there are many things that irk me - and that's exactly why I will leave here before this goes not so pretty. Have fun with your ignorance.

The group is not there just to help you spoil things, any more than it's just there to help me stab things. You want help from people, they want help from you. Cooperate or don't. Your choice.
First you say BH isn't weaker out side of making money. Then you say they are - make up you mind. Why should the BH not receive priviledges in money skills, while you receive priviledges in damage skills, if that's her contribution to the group?

Where did I say that??
And BTW, even if I had said that, it'd be double-talk, self-contradiction and lies, not hypocrisy.
Sorry, lies then. :D I've picked up most of my words from context on the internet, so I'm often off on the exact meaning (oh, the embarrassment when I found out that 'bish' is not a term of endearment...).
Either way, grabbing quote.

Ok, that I remember saying, could you please point out where I said that they're weak after that? I remember saying no such thing.
And, seriously, I had no idea English was a second language for you. Lots of respect for you there, English is a really screwed up language to try to learn. BTW Hypocrisy = trying to enforce a standard that you, yourself cannot, or will not, uphold.
Like the guy who won't let his g/f or wife smoke because it's bad for them, but smokes a pack a day himself.
Offline mode helps reduce lag on the servers and assures that people that actually want to play can connect.
On the whole Dwarf vs Dagger thing.
Bounty Hunters contribute money to their group via spoils. They can thus contribute less damage overall and since the entire group is benefiting (including them) then its kinda balanced.
Warsmiths have a bit tougher time justifying their existence in groups but y'know what would really help their case? Cheap shots.
Dwarves sacrifice fighting ability for the ability to generate more adena. If they choose to share their abilities with others then they have an easier time finding groups. A bounty hunter which doesn't share spoils is like a tank that won't take a hit, a dagger which won't attack anything and a warcryer that won't buff.
I don't see the debate here honestly.
Offline mode should be more then enough... if you want to go hunt then you can't sell but there's no reason to force people to remain connected for 8 hours straight while they're afk.
The idea is just great to get rid of
1: freaking computer noise (while sleeping it's especially bad).
2: having dual box for selling/buying stuff while playing the game.
3: To 4x times reduce number of dummy active, but afk-trade connections.
Actually, Auction house will solve the problem too, but... I kinda like a crowd of ppl sitting in Giran :)
Just allow them to sit only besides the walking way?

Or you could just add an auction house and triple or quaruple the number of standing and wandering NPCs. BLAM! Problem solved.

I can tell that you have never played a dwarf at higher levels. It cost a fortune (in healing potions - or I could sit down for a while) to try to level against green mobs. Cannot get a decent party because it is a Warsmith, how many Warsmiths have you partied with?

!bah, how is commerce being handled now? is there none?
Why not just make dwarv summon/pet/NPC shops BETTER than other peoples?
Warsmith's had a powerful summon for leveling until C4 arrived. Now the cost of the summon does not even come close to being worth the XP.
Seriously how fair would it be if ONLY dwarves could set up AFK shops now? As it is everyone can, dwarf shops are just bigger.
Fairness? Where's my Dwarf skill "heal" or "focus" or "anything PvP related" or "spoil at a level that will work"? But hey, if you want to craft/buy some css at a decent price no problem, let my dwarf buy the css recipe for 500+k and make 1 adean off of each css sold. Lets see, I'd have to sell 500,000 css before the adena evens out - but still in the hole with the time spent making css instead of using that time XPing against green mobs - everyone should be so lucky; but, Dwarfs were not made for PvP/PvE they were made for commerce and gadgets (i.e. golems).

If you just go back a page or two you can probably still find my answers to this.
Read the whole thread before you reply. Kthx.

Stop your whining. We've heard all that already in that thread and it's already been discussed. Bring some new content or go away.
