Screen Resolution resets to 320x240

It happens after random crashes, 3 times on the PTS and now 2 times on the live. I had to go in and change a file C:\Program Files\Lineage II\system\option (GamePlayViewportX=320) to (GamePlayViewportX=1024) and (GamePlayViewportY=240) to (GamePlayViewportY=768).
This is faster than uninstall, reinstall the resolution is so small you cant reset it in game. (cant move box up to hit OK on the option tab) I am running Windows XP pro, P4 2.0, ATI Radion 9800 Pro, Driver 8.203.0.0,

No it doesn't because the file is editable....If the file was encoded like how the rest was then i would say yes, but it isn't.

Wrong thread....This isn't i get lag.

I get bad lag then crash and when I log in screen res is 320x240.

for some reason ALT + ENTER dosent work to me...

close it, ( alt tab or ctrl alt del, etc) go in system folder, delete the option ( option ini ) start game back up and tataaa done..

We have 3 PC's in our house and the only one this hasn't happened on is running Win 64x Maybe just cooincidence.

The alt-enter window mode and resetting the desired resolution seems to be the quickest and easiest way to fix it.

I've had this happen as well but I noticed it only occures if I use Ctrl+Alt+Del and End Task to close L2. Happened 3 times on PTS and hasn't happened yet on Live probably becasue when I freeze up I just reboot the whole computer instead of using Ctrl+Alt+Del. Hope the info helps ;)

Instead open option.ini (edit) and edit the resolution fields. Save and exit and you re done.

This happnes to me anytime I Lock up in any way and have to Ctr/alt/del and end task to close game. I have no idea why doing this would alter your opt file. Make no sense why this would accur. It doesn't only happen when on the live server. Happens also when using a private server which is bogus, because everytime a private server restarts and you dont log out, the game freezes for me. This fix would be greatly appreciated.

you can also go to the system folder, open the options symbol, Alter these two, GamePlayViewportX=(to)1024 GamePlayViewportY=(to)768 or whatever resolution you play at, when you start up again things will be in your old res.

Most of the times, when you have to shut down like this, none of the changed you made are saved. Most of the times, it shuts down just fine this way but, some times I get the windows message "Unable to end task". That's when it seems resolution settings are lost.

When you play windowed, there are no resolutions set in the options. Seems to me, when widows is unable to close the task, L2 has a chance to save your settings as if you were playing windowed (ie: no resolution set).

Or you can just go to C:\Program Files\Lineage II\System then Right Click the Option.dll (or just Option) and click at the Read Only ;)

Just got this myself after Franz lagged out.
Thought it was me but atleast you guys have offered a few fixes. Worrying that it should change it on a crash out at all.

It's one of thousand bags LA2. NC developers are lamers!
Just when you recive this screen resolution close la2. Open file:
[lineage2_directory]/system/options.ini on any text editor and wrote your normal screen resolution. Or if it be often make copy normal options.ini and write bat file that copy's normal option ini to current (to the /system/options.ini).

Wierd... When I got this problem all I would need to do is go into window mode and resize the window and go back to fullscreen. Easy fix.

i made a copy of this file at its proper settings and saved it on my desktop
when when my resolution resizes i just replace the bad file w/ my good 1... this is the long way of doing it but i like it because if i reinstal lineage i can just paste the file in and not have to set my graphic preference up

I am having similar screen res issues, so I'm posting this here to see if any of you guys can give me insight?

I'm having a screen res issue similar to the one in the stickied thread, however this doesn't occur when L2 crashes.

Basically, the res is way too large (I'm assuming), so I can't find a lot of windows. I actually lost my hot bar for a while, and the other bar on the bottom is completely lost.

Any resizing, editing of the options.ini, whatever, has not helped. Pressing ALT+X and then clicking options does nothing--I actually think the window is just popping up somewhere I can't get to, but I absolutely cannot find it. The other windows, such as Community, Macro, Help, etc. all pop up, except Options. The System Menu darkens like it has popped up, but I can't find it...

I tried reinstalling. I tried resizing in windowed view. Everything. I am at a loss now, so please help?

If you can bring up the game options window ...Click the ReInitialize button, this will reset all game windows to the default locations.

And they told me this game dose not Re-write its files. No wonder why many have to keep checking files and altering ini ones.

I would like to bring up.... If you make the file READ ONLY... A crash won't mess up your settings.

what happens in the game if you change something in your settings with a read-only file? Would it just make a new one? or would the game crash with a read error?

The change won't stick...Next time you start the game it will just load the file from when you made it read only.

Example: I have limited video mode on and the file read only. So no matter if i turned limited mode off before it will always be on when i start the game.

Are the screen res changes etc. account specific, char/toon specific, client specific or pc specific ?
I play many chars on 3 a/c on 2 different pcs. Any combination.
Sometimes changes seem to carry and sometimes not.

Ncsoft doesn't hold PC configurations in the accounts.... it's strickly PC related only.

this is what happens to me if i turn the file read-only , and in the game i hit apply after lol. i kinda figured this would be the outcome. Most games will have a random fit when you lock files that need to be allowed access to. pay attention to what the error says in the top line lol. " please delete your file" i wonder why could it be because i locked it to only read only lol.

it did not prevent me from starting the game it poped up in the game when i hit apply in the settings lol. So tread lightly on that option. when i put the read only file back to normal no more of this error.
