Guys (and gals, and various states of post op trannies), this is really just a game, isn't it? When you're killed and you lose your weapon that you spent months crafting, you do realize its only a game, don't you?
When your entire party gets pked before doing a raid, or you get trained out of the Lair, you don't honestly harbor any ill will toward the people behind the computers who did it, do you?
Please take my advice, if this starts to happen, just stop playing for a while, the game will still be here. I let people in this game color my real life and expended energy in feelings that bordered on hatred toward my "enemies".
But you know, you aren't my enemies. We are all friends, even the ones on opposite sides. We are all players, we may be rivals, but it must end there.
Please tell me that you all understand, because I've read the forums during my time in EAA, and I knew people didn't get it. I read them after EAA broke up, and I knew people didn't get it. And I'm reading them today, and I'm still not sure people get it.
This goes for people on all sides, in all clans, on this and any other NC server.
I am not speaking to anyone directly, I just want to say, when someone "does something" to "you", it should be because they dislike your avatar, not you behind the keyboard.
And don't worry if someone causes you grief by... oh, I don't now, killing you in a pvp game, buying out cheap soulshots only seconds before you do, or god forbid, showing off his orc manhood in a formal dress in front of your eyes... The gustin care police will stop at nothing to bring the guilty individual to justice.
So if I happen to train you and steal your armor that took you a month of playing to get then you will think.. boy that guys avatar is a real *****??
Hell no.. I'm gonna think... the guy behind that avatar is an [censored] for playing that way.

I take responsibility for the way my avatar behaves in the game. Sure maybe I RP him a bit, but nonetheless, I am in FULL CONTROL of him, he does what I tell him to do.
Now, there is such a thing as taking it too far.. ie.. taking a gun to the guy's house who trained you is crossing the line. Putting that guy on KoS to your clan however, is not only acceptable, it's recommended.
You have to know where to draw the line, and not to cross it once it is drawn.
So far I have never heard of a single instance of someone who plays on Gustin going outside the game to seek actual revenge for something that happened in game.
I have however heard of people dragging RL BS into the game, which in my mind is almost as bad. (but not quite..)
I saw a perfect example of taking things above and beyond just today, as a matter of fact. What resulted was just as good as going and taking a real life stick to someone, in my opinion.
I didn't mean to come off as self righteous, anyone who knows me in real life, know that I am anything but that.
lol I probably sound a little harsh, but I have no intention of beating you with a stick. Thicken that skin up a bit, or L2 will drive you crazy my friend.
Keep in mind while you are reading all the junk in here that a good many of us have thousands of hours of play time invested in our characters. It goes beyond that though, we have relationships in the game, friends, enemies, acquaintances, etc, etc. So to us our accounts and our toons have value.
That's why people react a funny way in here sometimes. Other times it's because people have a long history, and it's not always good.
So when you're reading the forums, take it all with a grain of salt. Take your time to actually get to know the people posting, instead of just taking thier words at face value. It will make your experience much more enjoyable and satisfying. :)

For someone that really doesnt give a crap about games maybe they should find a different hobby. My two cents.
It's only a game until a wallet hits the table. Because noone's ever been killed over a game of poker, and noone's ever dropped $300 to 'play at the next level'.
As for the rest, it just keeps getting weirder & weirder these days.
well all bets are off if Johnny gamer misses a car payment so he can have a "sword of t3h w1n". Then when he drops it, its serious, but only because he realizes how stupid he was to put real life money into something he can't touch. Same is true of someone who bought an account only to have the original account owner forcibly take it back without giving back the money, I could see feelings of real anger, but there again, it would be mainly because the person plunked down cash for something they didn't really own.
I personally would always return an item if someone dropped it in front of me, I might give them a few smart alek remarks if they were on the opposite side, but keeping it would never be an option.
Though I did once try to heal a farmer's mobs so that I could get his duals, and I did once grab an elven earring from one of the Dion bots. In retrospect, the farmer probably had more to lose than any of us, if that was his job.
All that aside, since my crystal ball is broken, I really have no way of knowing who is botting or cheating in some other way, so I suppose my policy will be to just give everything back. (in all fairness to me, I tried for hours to pm the bot to give the earring back, but she just lay there)
Here's the thing G4b, what happens in the game stays in the game lol. I'm sure I could meet anyone out of game and drink a beer with them. But in game it's a game, everyone's playing to win. Anything goes. You set your own challenges/goals to achieve to win, and your own rules for achieving victory. Everyone's definition of winning is different.
What makes this game interesting, is that although you may have your goal, ANYONE can interfere lol
I think everyone has a gaming "reality", but I don't think they would be willing to take their anger/frustations outside the game.
The game is one of my hobbies. To a certain extent, I take it as seriously as any of my other hobbies, and more seriously than some since I do indeed invest time into it.
I'm with Beer.. what happens in game stays in game. Someone trains me and jacks my armor, I never think to go over to the guys house and do a drive by. I do however think that everytime I see the guy I'm gonna make an effort to either get my [censored] back or beat him down.

This is true. This is my first MMORPG, I normally played fps shooters competively like Quake 3, UT and CoD. I like to play online games because quite frankly I like killing people. Nothing makes the game more enjoyable to me then being good at killing the other guy. This game is all about time to me. You put alot of time in your character so your more effective at killing the other guy. When you kill the other guy, you have just taken some time from him. You know how long it takes for him to get his xp back. When I first started this game I chose SH because of highest dmg output and LindaTran chose PR for same reason, we knew nothing about these types of games other then playing Diablo 2. If I knew how this game worked at that time I would have done a couple things differently, I will know for the next MMORPG I play, if I ever play another one. Quite simply, I love PvP type games and would never play anything else. I think this game is great due to there is so many aspects of playing this game and can be tailored to individuals tastes in what they want in a game.

Ok I read all the responses. I think the main thing for me in this post was that what I'm seeing on these boards is not something that is kept to "I'm going to kick this guy's butt in Lineage". What I'm seeing is delving into personal things, racial comments, posting pictures to try and prove that someone's RP consitutes an extramartial affair. Those things just don't belong here.
Your opinion is they dont belong here, nor would they have been brought here had people not tried to take advantage of certain people who dont come here.

Clearly your ability to ‘see’ depends on what suits you at the moment. I don’t play Lineage, so what’s my motivation in this?

MSB and donchop I think. Rock petitoned gm about it and they changed the names and gave them a slap on the wrist for it if I recall correctly.

So Lickn’ while you’re digging up that old gem you may as well ask me to come over to vent so you can scream about beating my head in and killing me with a baseball bat for 5 or 6 hours before passing out drunk while all your buddies make characters with names like cokksolid. Or maybe you can call my brother in the middle of the night on his cell phone just to tell him how much I use him. That one is always funny. Hell you should one-up those guys and call my grandma or something.
Stop living under the illusion every one of you is a good, normal person irl, many of you are not. The fact is you cannot excuse all abusive behavior under the guise ‘it’s just a game’. I’m not perfect, but I atleast will stand up and say something when someone flaunts his or her abuse.
