Ok I am a noob. I have been playing for 3 weeks now and have a nice lvl32 DE assassin (i am going PR). I play for fun and do not mind the leveling. I do love the game.
Yesterday my friends and I got ganked for no reason (or PK'd). We did not fight back for fear of dropping something. Later on, we ran across the same dude. He was a bit obnoxious but funny at the same time. Anyway, he ganked us again but not without a fight. Yes we fought back. But, we where of course no match. We where ganked again.
I am not crying about being PK'd. My questoin is, I want to put a nice little squad of 4 togethor.
My 3 friends and I have agreed to do this. We want to know what race/classes would make the best Nuker,Healer, Tank and Damage Dealer.
To be clear, we know it will take months to level these 4 new toons to high levels, but we r gonna do it. We r dead set on it.
Second, the only purpose of these toons is to simply overpower, to be elite, and to hunt down these PK'ers and other like them.
Yes, we will have fun doing it to.
Thanks all
Megalark
Elven Elder: Great for gank parties as they have return 2. Also provides 3 of you with a high rez if things go wrong.
SilverRanger x 3: People say mages are overpowered. People are makeing the HE the prefered archer. None of this matters though. There is nothing better for a gank squad than a silver ranger.
You might want to have 1 of your 4 go SwS for song of wind/song of life/song of hunter...
I would like to note that if you lvl 4 toons to a high enough lvl to be elite... it is a waist of time go hunting reds in ev.... join a major clan and war people who can fight back... much more fun.
Or make an SH. ^.^ they can 2 hit level 60+ pretty easily if that appeals to you.
SH are great at sieges and mass pvp when u run in a swarm of people. If you are running around with just 4 people you want to be able to move fast. Nukers can't kill melee on the open field unless the melee aren't paying attention or want to die.
SH can take down any melee class. ^.~ when I was playing as a high level SH the only ones that gave me any real trouble where the archers...but they too shared the same fate. Anyways it is really more of what you will enjoy doing. If you are leveling characters specifically just to kill a red that killed you...then you may find yourself nolonger enjoying the game. Play whats fun, don't play necessarily for revenge.
To compile some of my experience along with the stuff already posted here, I think the best 4-man gank-squad would look something like this:
Elven Elder: got some decent buffs for pvp, some good heals, and the all important PR2 (which is an instant return to town spell for your entire party).
2 Archers: Some say nukers would be better, but archers, either Hawkeye or Silver Ranger (probably Silver Ranger would be better, speed is an issue) make for a very good damage output, and can also take a hit. Stun shot and huge criticals are benefits of the archer classes, and silver rangers get sprint and entangle, which will allow you to catch up to your prey.
Last character: some kind of support class, either a Bladedancer (with a bow as a secondary weapon) for offensive buffs, or a swordsinger, also with a bow. Bladedancers give some **** good buffs for archers, increasing damage from criticals, etc. Swordsinger would be my choice though. Why you ask? PKers will run from a high level gank-squad, mostly because death can cause pkers to drop their gear like candy. SWS will increase party run speed, which will already be mad fast, and PKers will find it pretty hard to get away from you. Add Windwalk 2 from the Elven Elder and Sprint from the Silver Ranger and you have 2 very fast archers. Entangle your target with one of the Silver Rangers or root him/her with the elven elder and there is no way they are getting away short of forcelogging.
Keep in mind, any sort of PVP requires tactics, and if you are going up against a high lvl pker, be aware that your stuns may fail, your entangle may not land, and your archers may miss. Make some macros to help with your strategy.
Anyways, this seems like the ideal 4-man gank squad to me. Good luck and happy hunting.
Oh by the way, way to not be a whiney n00b. Go after the PKers if you get pked. Besides, the drop rate on red characters is much higher than any mobs you will ever find. ;)

You are absolutely right... a sh can own a melee class IF the melee class wants to fight... a lvl 40 red dagger is going to fight a SH... he will run away... no way a SH can catch him... and any red that is any good at being a red wont let the SH get within 900 range ever... so in this situation a SH is absolutely worthless... on the walls of a castle... a SH is a god.

we think a like :)
when you are ganking reds or war tags or whoever with small parties... speed is everything...

Sprint IS windwalk 2 - they don't stack. Elven Elders don't get root. But other than that, setup would work but... without crit buffs like focus and death whiper, the SRs won't really do the awesome damage archers are acknowlegded for. But probably good enough.
Question is are you making a hard core hunting group or pvp party? Probably don't need a tank either way but if you do want a tank i suggest DA/SK DA are nice because with their summons now using SS they can equate to another DD and themselves being able to hamstring and drain life from the enemy is tight too. However SK has a few more offensive abilities for pvp and the anchor skill is always nice if it lands your opponent is dead 2 minutes of being froze unable to fight back there is no way you shouldn't be able to kill em probablyhave time to traina mob on him use confuse and have it kill him for a chance at his gear too! Although forgoing the tank for a 2nd regen char might not be bad if you are all arcehrs and have one healer and one mp regen guy you will never need to rest. One final choice to look at for a tank/buffer type is a OL yes they are slow but with their buffs they often have better P defense then most tanks! Also aoe silence and aoe root are nice to cripple an enemy group.
I'd replace the EE with a prophet, or more likely a warcryer, for all the offensive buffs that helps increase damage output... Party Recall 2 is nice and all, but - questionable if it's worth it in this case... perhaps the best solution would be Elven Elder, Warcryer, SR, SR... that way there's both a buffer, who can soak it up and help with some real damage, a healer/rezzer/recaller and then the two DDs... ?
yeah I thought a wc would be good in the mix, but WC are quite slow for ganking (run speed). I would deffinately get SoES with the focus SA for the EE. This would allow them to crit more, and stacked with hunter they don't need many other buffs... 2 SR will drop a person fast with EE buffs + focus +sws.

I agree.. melee are really not a huge inconvenience provided we can land a sleep or slow at some point.

preferably the sleep first.
but sov have you ever ran down a red that saw you comeing?
I used to have this really cool way of dealing with reds.
Most reds (at least the ones that hang out near noobish levelling places) are poorly equipped. This means no jewels.
Level 9 sleep.. the best my SE gets.. doesn't hit very much in normal pve/pvp situations. HOWEVER.. add in a red with no mdef.. and instant sleep.
There was a red on hinde that used to bother my alts occasionally.. I'd sleep him, thus placing him in combat. Can't log during combat. He got bored with it much faster than i did ^^

My bad, I dont play either class. Unless I'm wrong again (possible) EE do get sleep, which can help in the same way. Didnt know that about sprint, maybe HE would be the best choice then? Entangle on the SR is still nice though...
I would go with a SE, a BD, and 2 SHs. With empower, dance of mystic, dance of concentration, and acumen 3 pots. 2 spellhowlers can take almost anyone down with 2 volleys. Not to mention its a decent group to level as.
Personally, I would take EE heals, high rez, resist shock, adv block, wild magic, and party recall over empower/zerk/acumen from any other buffer for PVP. This is from a mages perspective though.
Without a good buffer you're toast. Archers are excellent PVP'ers, and pretty fast too, especially SRs and PRs. 2 Archers, BD or SWS and one prophet (Prophet > Warcrier for archers). Unless you want to make an extra boxed prophet to keep you buffed, then an EE is very nice too for above mentioned reasons. For leveling you won't need much healing with a BD or SWS in the group, so the prophet will do just fine in most cases, but in pvp their heals aren't good enough and he will be drained already from buffing you.
SE, BD and 2x nukers is a good team too. Try to make a diverse team, SH + SPS for example, then your'e very balanced and can handle most small group pvp encounters, and you level fast as hell as either nukers or archers. So it depends on what you prefer.
You see the red thread in this, uh, thread? Yes, long range > melee in pvp. BD or SWS is essential to any good pvp group.
When I pair up with another Silver Ranger and a Prophet, the 3 of us together are unstoppable. Add either a 3rd Silver Ranger or a Blade dancer and it's even better.
