I just got my second profesion and got my 1337 skillz (:P) but as i saw backstab and deadly blow have the same power but backstab needs 30mp more!!! I thought that's because there's a smaller chance of missing but when i tried i saw that there's not so much differnce... So why the 30 more mp?? Why would someone use backstab instead of deadly blow?? If the chance is the same i think it would be fair to reduce the mp...
as far as i know, Backstab works all or almost all the time, but only from the back or the sides. Deadly blow works from all sides at about the same rate as the lower level Mortal Blow. So backstab costs more i guess since it has a better chance of landing as long as you are in the right position.
I don't actually have a dagger char, so someone correct me if im wrong.
They both have the same land rate, except BS wont land from the front anymore. (though if you ask me, BS has a lower land rate, but thats from my personal bad luck :))
I've got a 41 PW, from what i use her for, BS does a lot more damage than deadly blow. Generally around 800-900 damage if i use it right, while deadly blow only does 500-600.
back in time backstab was 100%. backstab deal EXACTLY the same dmg as deadly blow provided they are the same lvl.
the only one option to use backstab is pvp and you are behind the victim so u can do backstab/deadly blow/mortal blow (make use vicious stance is on)...
I think the only reason to use BS is when you want to consume all your mp...
I really think that when it was 100% chance it was fair because:
Pros: a) 100% chance, b) high dmg
Cons: a) you have to go from behind, b) high mp
Now it's completely useless skill and if they cant make it 100% chance they should reduce the mp... I am going to make a petition!!!! ARGGHH
Ummm I have never seen my BS do more damage then DB. This skill is nerfed so bad that I removed it from my shortcut bar. I do however have it in my PVP bar, where I use it for a 3rd attempt to strike.
It really doesn't make any sense, you have a skill that misses more often then DB, even though you are RIGHT behind the enemy, does the same damage as DB, and you have to get behind the person. I think they should either make the hit rate ALOT higher from behind, or drop the MP to less then that of DB, due to the need to get behind the enemy for it to work.
Backstab is a surprise attack, and generally just used for PvP. I've had backstab do way more damage to me than deadly blow. Can you crit with Backstab?

BS and DB do the same damage. If you removed BS from your hot bar means you dont PVP. BS is a very effective PVP skill. I always spam both. If youre always in front of your enemy and cant use BS then obviously you dont know how to play a dagger...
When you attack your opponent, 95% of the time they will run or try to kite. In both situations, BS is great if you know hwo to use it. I admit it does take some PVP practice to know when your target is going to turn around/kite, etc.. Since kiting is so easy and fast in this game, BS must be timed perfectly if youre being kited.
