Ok, so i was reading thru various posts this morning and i saw someone talkin about triple boxing. And i was just wondering...how strong must your computer be to do this? I've been thinking about it for while and would really like to try duel boxing, but i wasnt sure if my computer could handle it. Sooo...yea if anyone could just give me sum info on duel boxing that would be great. Thanks.
I think he meant he had 3 computers. I can't think of anything that could handle 3 clients well at one time. I used to run 2 on 1 computer, but the second was just a buffer/healer I would sit in the corner when i wasn't using him.
Please someone delete all the posts in this thread, terrible info!
You want to run multiple l2's on one computer in windows mode. A clannie of mine runs 4 at some points. His main, prophet, se and a BD.
I run 2, never tried or needed to run 3. Try this:
1.) Run l2. Alt + Enter to go into windows mode. Resize it so it takes up about 75% or 70% of the screen. Minimize that window.
2.) Start a new l2. Let it load completly. Alt + enter again and resize to same size/location as first screen.
You now are running 2 l2's with hardly no lag. The reason you have to alt + enter this time is because its not loaded into l2's memory. But next time you do it, you will load up in windows mode.
You have to minimize the first l2 to load the 2nd l2 completly or it will give you a GG error.

Actually, I know that mine can, and I don't even have that good of a computer (around $1k, 4 years ago, seriously nothing special now). I haven't tried to actively play three, no point really, but I've had Anna's account on a sell shop while I played two, once or twice before. Had to put two of them on the lowest detail but it was ok, other than long load times when using a gatekeeper.
L2 in windowed mode is surprisingly good at releasing its stranglehold on the processor. I wouldn't even try it with minimizing each one.

I don't minimize my 1st client and the 2nd loads just fine.
The only thing I find with running two clients on one PC is that the non-active client doesn't refresh the graphics smoothly at all, and that's with a 7800GTX. It's no big issue tho coz it'll be fine as soon as you make it the active window. And you just watch the AF character via you main window and switch to it if/when it loses AF.
I might have to put another monitor on my PC and drag one L2 to that and see what happens.
Yep I run 3 clients on one PC, and there is no lag at all..... except when I use Skype at the same time, some how it makes my L2 lag a lot??.
I have a Athlon 3400+, 1024mb ram, GForce 6800GE and a 2048/512 Down/up connection
Only the main client(the one with my SH'er) has the gfx details set to high, long distance view and so on. The other 2 clients are on low details, low distance view, no sound, really put to the minimum.
It's not hard to control 3 clients at the same time, by using macros and overlay windows, that way I can quickly change between screens. IF i do minimize window, each time I change, I have to target that exact little icon on top, and when I bring it back up, it takes a long time for L2 to create the window again.
By using overlay windows, all windows does not fit the complete screen and at the same time they are shifted i posistion from letf to right.
That way I simply click on the right/left side to change clients.
But watch out, if you are not concentrated, you might mixe them up...... I did that for 2 days ago, so instead of sending my Prophet to melee, I was sending my SH'er into melee......
and yes, my SH'er got wacked, as it's kind a glass-cannon, **** good power, but **** lousy defence :(
I might have to put another monitor on my PC and drag one L2 to that and see what happens.
Nothing special, it will run as a slideshow on another monitor and loose focus from time to time too.
And I did not manage how to force clients run fullscreen on each of the monitors. Everytime you maximize one, it occupies only the primary one.
