While playing Lineage, my framerate rarely ever gets above 30fps. In places like the upper level of Enchanted Valley and Cruma Marshlands, it stays between 15-20 fps. I tried installing different video cards (5700LE, 6600GT, 9800 Pro), and they didn't affect my framerate (at least I couldn't notice a difference). Also, lowering the detail only raises my framerate by +5 fps. I just upgraded my motherboard (from an Asus P4S800), and it helped a little, but not much. I've tried everything that I could think of, including re-formatting my hard-drive. Before I go any further, I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice. Thanks.
Current System Specs:
- Motherboard: AOpen AX4SQ-UN
- Processor: Pentium 4 3.2 GHz
- Memory: 2 GB DDR400
- Video Card: ATI X850XT
most probably you have set up some gfrx features too high.
my best tip for performance is to disable shadows and even more important is Terrain Range to narrow or very narrow. i know game doesnt look that nice anymore with terrain range set like this, but it helps.
but better to have less fps than that many crashes like they are now since c4 update..
I have a suggestion that MIGHT help. I do not know the reason but it helped me with my previous computer.
Just lower the screen refresh rate inside the game !
And if this doesn't help, try messing with parameters carefuly. You might find some things out. Try switching to 16 bit mode instead of 32 maybe ?
And ofcourse, having the most recent drivers (desirably WHQL signed)
In general, using 6600GT should allow you to run with full graphics.
Also such things might happen if you do not have enough RAM.
With full graphics and sounds enabled game takes around 350-450 Mb of RAM (you can watch this from the task manager) so if you have around 512 RAM total - think of upgrading.
Also, this is not a suggestion but AMD computers in general are better for gaming.
One more important thing - check if your game runs real smooth when you turn graphics off (use lower detail).
Well, set the PC/NPC range to narrow and ur dead :) (if not killed by mobs, then by an enemy group u just dont seen coming ^_^) But yes, to improve performance, set the Terrain range to narrow. Maybe u wont like it to see mobs in the nowhere, but ur game runs faster with it.
Okay, I tried everything you suggested, and nothing seems to help much. Even selecting the lower detail option (with 1024x768 16-bit) only gives me a framerate of between 20-30 fps (sometimes PEAKING at 40).
I have 2 GB of Ram (2x512 + 1x1024, all three sticks are DDR400), so I should have enough.
Well, anyway, I'd like to thank everyone for their help.
