Having a problem deciding what's the best gear for an A grade dorf? I've experimented around, but I can't quite pinpoint what I'm looking for.
I'm willing to carry multiple weapons, and multiple armors. I have:
DC heavy and DC light
Halberd with Haste
Elysian with Health
full Majestic jewels.
+4 STR -4 CON
+5 DEX - 5 CON
I'm torn between focusing on defense + HP, or focusing 100% on P.ATTK + crit rate.
Can anyone think of a good mix for the two for a dorf? I'm willing to go back to B grade armor if I can see the benefit, and I'm willing to change weapons and/or tatoos.
To eliminate the "what if" factor of pvp, I'm looking to 1v1 a CDL mage starting from a distance and closing the gap to get within stun range, and take it from there.
Maybe there is just a strategy you've found success with?
Here are some the three options for dwarf pvp (I don't troll much)
1) Take some of that adena and pay a broke nuker, who is stuck in B grade, to pk people, a few thousand bsps will get it done.
2) Bow down before the opponent (set up sell shop with half price soul shot) and beg for mercy.
3) +4 CON and +4 WIT and carry a health blunt, then force-log the instant that someone flags, and with CP and all that HP you'll last enough to log. (and hit a macro just before you flip that pc switch that chants The Dwarian Battle Cry " Whaa, I'm going to get my main ")
Me? I'm still running my factory default stats, using a tallum heavy set, and an elysian w/ health as well as a carnage w/ crit bleed. I've found that dwarve are pretty balanced, and that if you mess with your stats you either find yourself a pure tank w/o dd capability or a DD with the inability to take much damage at all.
As a Maestro it's also nice to have my full buffed golem actually de-nerfed pvp-wise when using pet ss. Though the golem doesnt have much defense, but I guess thats why I'm there to make sure the guy is stunned :p

This is the sentence that I dont' understand.
What it suggests is that you have a particular target in mind who you know uses CDL while leveling. That's the only think I can think of.
I went diffrently on the pts. Say what you will about one month's worth of experiance... buteveryone was in top gear and skills, and outside of mages, I usually came out on top.
Anyways, my setup was~
Tallum Heavy
Haste Polearm
Health Blunt
Bow of your choice ( optional )
+5 str
+4 con
-9 Dex
Now about dex.... dex is to Dorf's, what men is to Mages. Contrary to popular beleif, raising it or decreasing it doesn't make a dramatic change to attack speed, crit rate, run rate, and accuracy. When weighed against Con and Str, there was no contest. It was obvious that one of the three stats had to be gimped, so I went with what was their weakest point. I do suggest not to use this build if you plan on using duals or fists... XD.
I pvped on the pts without the golem ( to be fair.. everyone cried when I had it out ) and most melees went down easily in 1v1. Kiters are annoying, but very possible, and mages where next to impossible if stun doesn't land. The only real problems where fighting against destroyers, glads, and tyrants. It's very hard to go against meat shield DDs with a dorf. You might be similarly statted... but they have more skills than you, and that cannot be ignored.
The bow is there mainly for kiters/ nukers/ people who attempt to run. Accuracy is a bit on the low side when you compare the shooting/ preperation time for bows on a dorf... but it served it's purpose. Running circles around your golem
s target while shooting at your opponent worked nicely.
Again, this was only one month's worth of experiance. Think what you will... this is what build I observed to be the best for a dorf.
I strongly suspect -9 Con is going to be a problem when you're being nuked as you attempt to close to melee range...
May be a problem yeah, but remember the first 76 levels as a dwarf you really should aim to lv fast, in teh end in open PvP fields dwarfs RARLY get targeted at all, and if they are everything else is dead, the only thing you truly need to do 1vs1 is the olympiad and to reach that yeah you need to grind hard, and to do so it's beter to do it fast.
NM light for mages, dorfs get light armour mastery dont they? + it has like a 4-5% m def bonus aswell as sleep resistance. Use a pole arm to stun and crit with, against a mage you'll want anything other then haste as you dont usually get to stand up close for long enough peroid of time. The extra range a pole arm has really helps when fighting a kiteing mage. so Pole + NM light for Mage pvp. Try not to nerf DEX or CON as you'll need it to surive nukes and keep up with them, you need all the run speed you can get as mages use DC robes with its speed bonus.
This is ridiculous, almost all of you are pretty much wrong on saying that a dwarf cant take a nuker, give me a fully buffed Dwarf vs a fully buffed Nuker and the Dwarf will win hands down if he has an Hp blunt.

Me, HP blunt vs a nuker 14 levels below, who won? the nuker, I didnt manage to scratch the nuker more then once, and yeah stun attack failed that time, he just resleept and continue attack from distance, oh yeah even slow me so no point trying to catch up and so on. So I duno what your talking about, maby works in siege area when it's so many around so they have beter target to nuke befor you.
T.T that just hurts to hear you need all that to standa chance... oh well at least Ill make money on my BH ^_^ guess illl just forget about pvping altogether heh
I have:
Tallum Glaive (HP)
Meteor Shower
Emi Bow
DC Light Armor
+5 DEX +4WIT
The +5 Dex is really nice.. 119 EVA at lvl 76
Attack first with Polearm (Wrath, Wirlwind), then HammerCrush with Blunt (depends on class). If its a mage I try go get close first and use AOE skills then the Bow. With the +DEX the chance to land few crits is not bad (even higher if they try to run away ^^)
Maxed for damage ^^ as thats what I belive is the best option, nobody really target dwarfs first :P we got quite crappy damage, ok maby not in my case but LOL most rangers still got more damage then me.
Got an DELongBow if target runs away able to leash out quite good damage with that to, blunt to stun but ^^ mostly I don't need to. Sure not a lot of HP but whatever ^^ as I said, I have never ever ben targeted first as a dwarf ^^.
Last mass PvP I did was in the arena and well yeah I was the last one of my group to die :P
Since Warsmith can summon a bunch of robots, can any of the summon help u in pvp or killing a red pker? those seige golem are huge would be nice, but I think the lil robot that go boom should help right?
I am curious as to how many of us posting here about dwarf PvP are WS and how many are BH. I myself am a WS lvl 55, my mechanical golem is lvl 57.
Here is my setup currently
Zubei heavy unenchanted
full set of BO jewels also unenchanted
+4 aoba with health SA
+4 dex -4 con tat
I did a little PvP with a friend of mine who is a spellhowler. He is lvl 57 wearing Avadon and with full BO jewel set as well, not sureon his enchants etc. also no idea which sword he is using.
So round 1
Me using BSS, no pet shot for the golem
Him no shots
winner...Me
Round 2 same conditions
winner....Me
Round 3
Me BSS and pet ss for golem
Him Cbsps for his sword
winner.....spellhowler, barely.
mechanic golem is essential in pvp since it has about double the average ws pattack
big boom is somewhat of a sick joke now (no good in pvp or pve)
cant summon siege golems anywhere but a siege (although at a million a summon i doubt youd want to)
also i hear a siege golem does less damage to a player than the average melee
Didn't read too much...pretty much just the OP's post.
I dunno what gear would be good, but from my experience in being a nuker, the most deadly dwarves I come across are ones with blunts and heavy armor that adds con and whatnot.
Dwarves have INSANE amounts of HP, and they can stun me before I get through it. So when I pvp a dwarf it usually goes like this:
Me: Ouchie dwarf...what you doing?
Dwarf: MWHAHAHAH
Me: ::Cast Sleep:: Fail >< RUN
Dwarf: ::Use Stun::
Me: phhew didn't land...run, ::Cast Sleep:: >< Dammit!
Dwarf: ::Use Stun:: MWHAHAHAHAH
Me: Ouchie, tooo much hurtie....bang bang bang bang bang :(
I think dwarves strong point is their CON and HP, so if you raise that, and land stun..you pvp good...esspecially against us robes and light armor wearers.
Or this has happened too:
Dwarf: ::Use Stun::
Me: ><
Dwarf: BANG bang bang bang bang
Me: Dammit!
Red Dwarf: MWHAHAHAHA!
truth is stun rarely lands on +con nukers
if it does we usually do a few hits and it breaks
now if a dwarf goes +con (pretty dumb pve choice if you ask me) they would have to go -dex or str
with lower attack or run speed/attack speed they do even less damage
even with high lvl jewles against a nuker 20 lvls lower than me sleep rate is still pretty good
funny in the arena the other day a nuker 30+ lvls lower had no trouble landing sleep while i spent 15 seconds summoning my golem
of course he couldnt kill me
not because of my high hp/cp just because at 30+ lvls spells fail almost 50% of the time
BTW i tryed to stun him 7 times and they all failed (4 hammer crush 3 stun attacks)
how he survived that many stuns? well thx to the kiteing bug as long as the guy is moving you cant hit him ^^
big boom is somewhat of a sick joke now (no good in pvp or pve)
Yeah I was figuring Big Boom would be useless in PvP, as long as the target can avoid it anyway. If they managed to not notice the suicide bomber coming though it could have it's uses, but thats not likely.

its funny when you use it in the arena and everyone scatters lol
second someone gets hit theyre like "oh that wasnt so bad"
at point blank range (remember it does less damage the further away the target is) it does considerably less damage than the average mage/archer/gladiator/possibly bd
keep in mind it takes 7 seconds to trigger and cost 99 sps per hit (5-10k worth of sps)
its also easier to sleep/stun/root/para than prolly any other summon
so why use it?
you dont, simple as that
mecanic golem is a must though
