Quick question regarding seeding. I have a (now) level 21 human warrior, and successfully seeded a ton of chilly codas when I was level 20 through level 21 near gludio. When I hit 21, I had to stop seeding the Shield Skeletons and stick with Ruin Imps, Scavenger Bats, and Skeleton Infantry. But it always worked if I did it to those guys, and harvesting always worked too.
Now I'm trying Golden Coda's, and I'm in Oren, trying to use them on Lirein Elders (which are "white" to me at 21), and I fail probably 20% of the time or more seeding them. They're in the range of the seed, as am I... so what's wrong?
The profit on these isn't so great that I can afford all the failures.
Also, on my server, Gludio and Oren seem to either have zero's for buyback (Gludio) even though they sell seeds, or the list is blank (Oren)... and those were the two places that bought Chilly Codas... what is the deal?
Thanks in advance.
I am a newb in L2, played for a month after release, just now coming back. Everything is wildly different.
They may have 0 for buy back because all was already bought. Try looking and crop reward status for next week. And manor restarts at 11pm east.
Dont know about everything being blank, could be some kind of lag.
what server are you playing on? i found that any seeds above blue coda don't have 100% success chance if you're fighting 1x mobs. if the your region has a [censored] manor deal it's best not to do it at all.
And now both Gludio and Oren are "blank", not even zeros (gludio was zeros across the board).
They need to fix their text about seeding then if it isn't guaranteed, they should say so even if you are in the range...
I was getting about 60% success rate seeding white con monsters at 21 for the level 22 seed. Totally not worth while when you factor in the buy back (one was 250, this *almost* was worth it, the other is 120.... unacceptable lol).
As far as sellback, you can sell back to ANY town. You can buy seeds in Oren, farm them in Oren, then you can (and should) sell them back to the highest bidder! When you go to sell the seeds you will see a list of all the towns buying your seeds and how much they are paying when you select Tally Indigineous Product.
As far as your original question, if you and the mob are both within the correct level range for the seed it should never fail. If it does you can report it as a bug. There are some bugs with the seeding. For example "Alternative" crops are supposed to succeed 50% of the time if you and the mobs are in the correct range for the seed. I tried and the success rate was less then 10%. I would suggest trying a different seed or mob.
Your last question was regarding the 0 buyback. The manor system resets everyday at 6pm PST. There are often many players and farmers waiting to sell their seeds back right when the system resets. They all want to sell to the highest bidding town. If you really want to sell back you need to be at the npc right at 6pm PST. You can also select VIEW THE MANOR STATUS and choose the CURRENT CROPS tab to see what each town is buying back that day. If you change the drop down from CURRENT to NEXT it will show you the next day's buyback. Lastly a town can choose to sell a seed but not buy them back and vice-versa.

This is false. Seeds are not on a "1seed, 1fruit" ratio. (Haven't been since C2 left us.) For example Blue Coda (14-24 level) has about a 120% return rate on 1x hp Mobs. Lute Coda (20-30 level) however only averages a 65% return rate on 1x hp mobs in it's level range.
The thing to remember though is that not all 1x hp mobs have the same HP. Seeding a mob with more HP (But not necessarily a 2x or higher mob) will give you a better return ratio.
And for Alternative Seeds, the actual effective rate IS ~10% on 1x hp mobs. Remember however that these seeds are not designed to be used on 1x HP mobs! You are expected to use them in big parties fighting 4x or higher mobs, where losing the drops can be a bigger deal than if your fighting crappy drop 1x mobs yourself.
The easiest way to get a better seed % is to 1) Seed a higher multiplier mob. Like seeding 2x hp mobs or go to a catacomb where 4x mobs are. 2) Seed ABOVE the seeds level. As long as YOU are fighting white or green mobs, seeding above the seeds level doesn't necessarily reduce the amount of Fruit you get. (And in many cases acutally raises it.) You can usually seed for 5-10 levels above the seed level safely. Eventually the seed will 'wear out' if you keep leveling, but as long as you get a good return (Total Fruit gained versus Seed bought) the actual sow/harvest rates are secondary to the #of fruit harvested per successful sow.
Thank you all for the information. I wish they'd update the mechanics of this, because the game seems to imply that you can't fail both seeding and harvesting if you are within +/- 5 levels of the seed (and the monster as well).
BTW, when I mean "blank", I mean, no zeros, no nothing showing up at all. I select "Oren" and all the values of whatever town I was previously looking at poof, not replaced with zeros or whatever, but emptiness. Gludio *was* that way for a couple days too, but I guess someone took over the castle this weekend and started to sell seeds/buy them back. Too bad they are cheapskates and with seeding not being 100%, there's no profit to be made from them. I will try seeding sometime on higher hp mobs.
I have yet to see "alternate" seeds for sale from any town as well.
