After recent events many people are VERY upset about the recent bannings of LEGIT players from the lineage2 community. Many of these players have been around since beta, and play a huge role in gustin history.
Our alliance is at a cut throat war with another alliance. We pvp daily. Sometimes people take this game to serious, and actually want there enemy to quit the game. I personally dont share that view, as my enemies are also my friends. HOWEVER, some individuals on both sides (neither is innocent) have been using the GM PETITION to seek revenge on there enemies. IF a gm is careless, he might make a mistake and find an infraction of the EULA on a legit player. In this case, they might even go as far as banning an entire pvp group, because of the actions of one player. These actions could be a half broken conversation from vent to party chat, which might have one meaning if you are in the ventrilo and another if you are just a gm reading through logs.
My question is this. Why must we police ourselfs in this community. We pay 15 dollars a month to NCSOFT to play there software. Shouldnt NCSOFT design a way to prevent botters at the start, instead of relying on its player base to police it. If for some reason hypotheticaly there was a glitch where you hit alt ctrl T or something where you automaticaly hit max level and were given 10 billion adena and NCSOFT took the role saying "HEY WE KNOW THERE IS A PROBLEM, BUT WE ARE GOING TO RELY ON THE COMMUNITY TO DO THE RIGHT THING AND NOT EXPLOIT IT". I think ncsoft should take this serious or they will loose there clients. We already have a placebo of a fix lol, GAMEGUARD. Why not make that POS software do something. Is it exist just to make us feel better? this is not a dooms day post or anything else so plz dont delete it. I am curious in the response of the wants of other players, and of the response of NCSOFT.

its exremely unreasonable that they ban so easily when the ppl behind these toons have put thousands of hours into that character, and just banning without a serious explanation or even trying to explain to the customer why it happened is horrible.

i agree. i feel like i/m being talked to like a child when i contact ncsoft customer support, wether through email or phone. this is not acceptable.

Don't expect to get your accounts unbanned, from what i've heard from people and read so far once your account is banned, theres no way to get it unbanned. You can send emails to support every day or even every hour on the hour, and they will just close the petition ticket and give you the same bs email saying that your banned and it is a permanent ban. You can ask for proof but they won't give it to you. Honestly, once you've been banned, you can try sending one email in and get the same generic reponse after that you'll just get the same reponse and get frusterated. Better off just buying another account and rerolling. just my 2 cents though. Oh, and another thing how come they make you send emails? Wouldn't it be easier to just talk to them over the phone? Guess that would solve problems much too fast.
Not to mention that, sadly, most of time the banned players DO contact customer support, who in return, tells them that :
1. There's nothing they can do about their case
or
2. They should not send another e-mail their case being closed, else their e-mail adress would be banned.
And all of us Euro customers can just rot in hell, since there's no other way to get in touch through phone but to call over atlantic (which has a huge cost). And if we do call, what do we get ? "we can't help you on your case, you should contact support team via E-mail". See response 1 or 2 above.
Way to go.
I'm still ****** at their way of taking care of things since the wrong bannings of some clanmates. Seems that things didn't really changed.
for people that have had there chars/accounts since beta.....its not an acceptable solution to tell them to buy new chars. Why would they even wanna continue doing business with ncsoft...
I do not understand NCs logic in their bannings. Serveral account, that have been open since beta, get reported for boting, get perma baned. They have been open since bloody beta. Why would they start boting now? Why did they not start way back in prelude, or OB? They havent been boting. They have just been a victim of a 10 year old kid going on a rant about be pked by an enemy clan member(s).
lets keep this thread focused on the orginal post....not on debating if someone should be banned or not. My intention of this thread was to poll the public, if we feel we should have to police ourselfs....by petitioning each other...or if ncsoft should rely on there own resources to stop cheaters

which btw anyone else notice how when u report a bot group like clintons group that i have reported botting for a few weeks now is still around yet honest players who have never been reported but once just suddenly get banned with just one petition?
I reported the RoylesRoyce people and LightSword many times, yet they say, we want all the names of the clan.... ok, how about this... BAN THE WHOLE FREAKIN' CLAN! There's a new idea. Come on NCsoft, I don't pay $15 a month to sit around and be run out of areas by KSing bots. Also, I would LOVE to have a raid boss that hasn't been taken by the bot farmers!
its not just one petition, its when your group says hey LETS ALL PETITION xxxxx, and you have 9 people petition the same innocnet person...but yes wth is wrong with this server....

The gms stance on botting shouldnt be revovled around having players report each other. They should have there own methods of keeping the community safe. It should be a 2ndary option to assist the gms, not otheir primary weapon to fight it. We shouldnt have to do there jobs for them. it's nice to have the petition system, for when it's needed, but the gm's should be out looking at bots themselves. we now have lightsword/rollsroyce doing raids 24/7, aescetics and patriots chockful when not too long ago it was a nice quiet place to exp...
get rid of the actual farmer botters, then worry abotu everythign else. from whati understand na has a wider customer base than korea and gets much worse support both customer technical eula enforcement and hardware side.
This is true, but it is rarely needed, I don't want anyone banned unless they deserve it, God.... This has gotten horrible. We pay NCsoft for a game we're supposed to enjoy and if they keep giving low standard service, I can see Lineage 2 being put to the bargin bin. Deleting posts, locking threads of discussion, and never giving us a straight answer... Are you asking us to leave? I mean to tell the truth, we pay them to do this stuff for us, if we have to petition bots for them, then why aren't we getting paid?

GM's showed on PTS that they can make RED's and just kill evrything .. why dont thei run 24/7 toi, catas ++ ... its not hard to see if (f.e) 9 ppl doing exact same ....
and just ban evry1 who dont connect over update server, like [censored]...
its not players job to waste time on petitions .. cuz nothing ever happens...

You had a good post talking about the issues of one clan using the petition system against another clan. You had rock solid issues, looking for answers from NC about this.
Then you strayed the path and started a bot rant. You know where this thread is going "The golden padlock award"
Why didn't you just stick to the issues of clan petition abuse against the GM's?
I didnt think anyone was making up stories PPC. I found out about Peppe awhile after it had happened. The people who knew were pretty quiet about it. Most of my guys dont dislike Peppe anyway.

have been a bot there since, I never had characters on Bartz.

Here's another little nugget of wisdom:
It takes more than petitions, even alot of petitions to get banned.
And one last and final bit of wisdom:
If you lay with dogs you might get fleas. So, if you are legit, but everyone else in the party is botting, you might get banned. If you are a member of a pro-farmer clan, yup, you might get banned. If you are an enforcer for a pro-farmer clan, you might get banned.
I've noticed recently that cheating has become so common place in some circles that the people don't even think of it as cheating any more, it's just "how they play the game." If this is how it is in your circle of friends, you should be aware that your account may be at risk.
The OP said that players that have had a large say in the servers history got banned. Seeing as ive been here since OB aswell, im naturally curious to hear who got banned? Tell me to mind my own business if you want, but i hate to see people who have been playing this long and are renown on our server just get banned like that.
Please Bighands take your ignorant holier-than-thou preaching elsewhere. These people were not botting. This group was not botting. Many of the people posting in this thread shared your same blind faith of the system and that is what this thread is about...
THE SYSTEM - IS - BROKEN.
People who aren't botting, people who aren't in groups with bots, people who have played this game since open beta are getting banned.
There was a group of players, all active, in TOI. Three days after this group, everyone who was in it (prior to a certain random point) was banned. Players who joined the group later were somehow not banned. Are you telling me that a group of people were botting or had a bot in it, and then 2 new people showed up... and everyone turned their bots off? That is rediculous.
This group was petitioned, and then watched by an outsourced nobrain GM, determined to be a bot without any petitions, and banned. For people who have paid for this game for 2 years, this is a mistake that cannot be tolerated.

This thread focuses on the banning of specific accounts, which cannot be discussed on the official message board. Also, any discussion about actions taken against accounts can only be held with the account holder, even if you petition or send in a ticket on their behalf. I understand your concern for your friends, but additional threads to discuss a ban will also be closed. Thanks!
