I'm just curious about the weapon-types in this game. Some weapons are pretty easy to figure out wich class uses them, like staff and one-handed swords for instance.
But what about great swords that are double-handed? Wich weapons are optimized for each class? I really wanna know cuz I'm thinkin of getting mehself a double-handed sword someday, think they rock! Do Shillien Knights and Templars use them? ^^
Each class gets certain weapon masteries, its in your best interests to stick to the weapon type you learn masteries of and have skills for. Knight classes learn sword/blunt mastery, which allows them to use any sword and any blunt, however as a knight you need a shield dont you, so using two handed swords is usually out of the question.
Pre-40 most fighters can use any weapon they want and still justify it. Its actually more efficient for an Shillien Knight to have a two-handed pre-40 than a sword and shield.
However, after 40, one should stick to their masteries. Generic masteries allow classes such as healers, summoners, and orc mages to use almost any weapon they want and still be effective.
Oh I see, thx for the update. Was kinda hoping that some class had double-handed swords as an optimized weapon, but you can't have everything in the world :)
Lol, my friend is asking me about great katanas, I've seen one or two pictures of em. I suspect that they're kinda rare and expensive?
great katana? There is a katana but its a C grade lvl 40 single handed sword. Orcs destroyers are the best class to go if you wish to use two handed giant swords, as they have two masteries for them.

And with Great Katanas, did you mean dual katanas? As in 2? If so, then yes, dual Katanas are top C grade, cost about 11-13.5 million on most servers. By the time you get to the level, that price won't seem so high ^.^
I've known lots of sword singers to use them as well. their regular wsord mastery works on them and with their buffs the crits and whatnot get to be prety nice.
I dont really understand why SwS sacrifise their shield and damage takeing abilities for the sake of a few p atk. the difference between DLE and dragon slayer is about 50 p atk, imo i wouldnt lose a shield for the sake of 50 p atk, you hit slower and cant take the damage as well as you could with sword/shield.
i beleave dorfs should use duels or 2 handed swords till about 55
really doesnt pay to have a few extra pattack and accuracy
most other classes should stick to their masteries after about 45ish
If you really wanna blast away with a 2-handed, go Destroyer. They are probably the only class that is proficient at doing damage with those huge swords. If you think Dual Swords (wielding 2 swords at once) would be any cool, then try Gladiator, or Bladedancer if you prefer to be more group oriented. The Katana is a single handed sword and is lower to mid C grade weapon. If you go to a blacksmith and pair it with another Katana then you receive Dual Katanas, which are a top C grade weapon and are decently powerful up through the mid 50 lvl range.
Finally, most healer classes use whichever weapon they want as their mastery is for any weapon in general. You can even use your own buffs to up your damage with it, however healers will never recieve weapon specific special attacks as other classes do. It's all a playstyle choice. Good luck!
