ok I decided to try my 14 days free trial ticket I got from City of Villain to try Lineage 2. This is not my firts mmo (FFXI, WOW, For-ever Quest- lol - ) but I am a little lost. Is there a place I can get a instruction manual ( with the trial you dont have any) in pdf format so I can figure what CP is? you know the usual basic stuff.
how is teamplay and clans in this game on this server?
There is a Help thingy built into the game if you press Alt-X it will bring it up, or there's an icon in the bottom right corner of the HUD that will open the system menu.. help is on there.
Beyond that, there is an in game tutorial that talks to you as you play to help you get the basics.
You can check the Library here on this site for some other info that will help you with getting started.
Then you can also pm me in game.. use quotes, and then the name.. like this:
"dukeofhonor Hey man, I have a quick question.
I play evenings mostly, on eastern time.
Welcome to L2, this game is unlike any other!
Ya, if u play a mage soon u will buy a 2nd account, then the 3rd......
But i'll tell u, u have to play more than 14 days... i found about soulshots after i finished my lvl 20 transfer quest
Now it's easyer... NC made a great ingame tutorial for starters.
CP= extra HP when ur pvping basically... but when fighting mobs it doesnt matter.
there are so many quest and extra things to help out new players now though. they have newbie guides in all the starter villages so if its ur frist character on that account u can start getting free buffs at lvl 8.

what class did u make?
my first character is a Darkelf mystic : Norafatalis
so far I like her a lot. I just got to level 14 and the newbie bonus are really cool.
Then I did a female dwarf named Roselyne. They look sooo cute! but unfortunatly they take foreever to level and they really need some love from the NC staff or I am missing something.
now I just need to see what it looks like in team.
youre right, I will probably need more than 14 days.
Who knows. Unfortunatly I saw two thing that pushed me away from FFXI, the farmers and from what I saw teamplay is mandatory after level 24.
My spare time is very wild so its hard to find people to play with... and lets not get into clans. Oh well.

well they prolly do need some love and you wont find 1 dwarf who doesnt complain about the class
but the fact is it takes a certain type of person to play one
i suggest you spend this time to work out what you want cause at 60+ you really dont wanna change your mind

I was in the same boat. My work, wife, kids, travel etc. schedule rarely allowed me time to level in parties, and often i would have 25 minutes only and needed to get some xp and log off (stll true). I went Spellhowler because 95% of my xp has been gained solo, since I began.
It's also pretty fun to play solo, and can be as complex or simple as you make it. MP rests are the only break in the action. The old rule of thumb was to use a de mystic and kill the hardest thing you could with 2 hits. Keep doing the math: mp used vs xp gained.
Find someone to help you a little with loaner gear, and a little adena for sps or bsps. Personally I never took a shot without blessed sps, but I had some help from more established/wealthier characters. You should be able to race fairly quickly to c-grade.
Sooooooo....it is possible to play L2 and mostly solo, if you choose a path that works that way. Spellhowler worked ok for me. That said, you really do have to put the time in if you want to elevate your toon to 7x; without real powerleveling, botting or just shocking amounts of time, it is hard to reach the levels that some toons have.
The music in this game is fantastic. I know you can listen on the web site but is there any way to get them in mp3 or a reader that can read them fom the music folder in the L2 program? I really want that music!
BTW, anything else I should watch out as a lv 14 beginner?
Also, make friends with some higher level players in game, that seem to play at times when you play. They can help you find the right places to hunt, techniques for max speed, and pick the right gear...
We could all re-roll and get to level 30 really quick, just because we've done it before...so don't be afraid to ask people for help.

BigHands=biggest noob on teh server. Ask me any questions you got that dont relate to my location :D

The files in the music folder are ogg vorbis files. All you need is an ogg player (something you can Google for I'm sure). The format is open source and there are plenty of free players out there.
yeah I am a role-player veterant (you know the real pen and paper thing?) and that music is perfect in background when we play any fantasy RPG.
Darn takes forever to go from one place to another... I wish I could toggle superspeed and zip my way from A to Z like we do in Paragon City. oh well...
But I really love the quest system with the adventure guild were you can see all quest, their level, who gives it... man that really saves a lot of trouble! And the quest are actually worth something (unlike many in FFXI). And no frikking skill to raise by using them 0.1 point at a time. Man I wasted half my time in other MMO using skills to raise them. in L2 you pay the SP and bang, its done.
The interface is a million years haead WOW and FF too. The command seems simple and I dont need a zillion macro to get something done.
dam I really like this game so far. Unfortunatly I dont have time to play both L2 and City of Villain. I guess I will finish my 6 month COV before I jump into L2. How long do they keep inactive account before they erase it?
A funny one. Comming from a friendly community of Player VS environnment like City Of Heroes, I was a little naive today. A very brave Dark Elf named Pistoliero asked me my lvl. Thinking he might want to form party (I told you I am naive and pretty new to lineage 2) I told him I am lv 9 with my dwarf cutie. Gues what? The guy proceed to backstab me just like that. No warning no nothing. Then I start running hell PK is a little against my religion (at leat when it comes to totally random acts of violence that serves no purpose wathsoever) and then since I run away he say : Sorry! ok I ran so I did not die so no harm done. Maybe he pushed the wrong button or something. I keep doing my quest (killing wolves and gobs) then the sonova picks my drop! ok maybe he got that one wrong too (told ya I am naive). Then He gets behind me again (gues we waited for his move to recharge again) then he backstab me again!.
Ok I ran. (I did not want to be killed so far from home yet) so he dint kill me but still. At least have the decency of challenging me properly!
So if you see my good backstabbing frien Pistoliero, give him a good stab heuh slap in the back for me thank you. :)
anyway what the ethic and general policy of pk ing? what is a good PK and what is a wrong PK? And what do you do when an honorless bullie just ruin your day for nothing? Any guidelines?
ROFL. welcome to L2. Glad to hear you didn't die this time.
Yeah, there are quite a few pricks out there, a good many of whom hang out around the lower level areas.
It's never a good idea to tell a stranger your exact level, always be vague about it. At the level you are at now, it's ok to lie a bit too, chances are, if you had said 17 he would have run off like a little girl.
Anyhow, happy hunting. Just so you know, it's only a matter of time until one of these pricks PK's you. Don't let it get you down, it's not that bad, and later on there will be plenty of time for revenge!
one more thing. When you die you return to village. What happens when you travel? do you return to the initial village or the last village visited? do you have to do something to change your home point?
if you type /loc it'll tell you which village you are closest to, it'll bring you to that village when you die... this also goes for when you use a scroll of escape
